Maybe it's a love letter in the sense of a psychotic person who talks about how they "love" you and wants to wear you as a suit? That's a bit too fitting of an analogy.

Also I love how are the spergs are getting very conflicting messages out of that movie like Bob saying it's "a love letter to fans" and Dobson going on about it being a deconstruction about the past which is awful and bigoted.

This is the same son of a bitch that fawns over Mario 3, yet had the gall to say that video games are toys that we need to share with dangerhairs who want to co-opt them. Also, what is it with these assholes trying to deconstruct everything?

In Bob We Trust that the Last Jedi is supposed to be a love letter to fans...ok. I honestly didn’t think TLJ was all that bad, but I’m pretty sure I wasn’t watching the same movie as Bob.

Decontructions make you look smarter because they're critical of a concept. The problem there is people who go with the most brain dead criticisms like "why doesn't the strong guy become a dictator?" and stop there. At that point you're not examining anything and just shitting your bed.

He argued this before. Basically Rey is great because she's just like the fans and represents them despite not knowing any of these people until like a week ago. Any time she randomly showed skill in anything is because she's some savant who obessed over stories that Bob would know she's unaware of if he payed attention. Luke being a failure is a lesson in how your heroes aren't always what they're said to be. Rey knows better because she's the next generation.

TL;DR In Bob's head, the sequel trilogy is some brilliant self-insert fanfic where a fangirl mastered the skills of her heroes after hearing of them as a child and succeed them.

I liked The Last Jedi more than... well, anybody else on this site from the looks of things. But Bob's attempts to defend it have had me facepalming so hard I'm pretty sure I'm permanently disfigured.

I have said many times before, I have no problems with folks that liked the movie. I do however have problems with folks acting like passive-aggressive dickheads acting like this movie is the smartest thing in generations and anyone who doesn't like it is some moron who hates women and minorities.

I liked the movie too and even I am rolling my eyes at Bob's shilling for the movie, because apparently Rei is the most perfect character ever.

(btw Kylo Ren is infinitely more interesting than Rei. Suck it Bob)

The best part is he'd likely go on some rant about Obsolete Inferiority if you bring up the possibility that the drugs are due to poor circumstance without seeing the irony. Meanwhile if they were black or at least Latino...
