You know, even though Linkara is a major cow, I never really thought he was a dumb human being. I always thought he was just a weirdo who behaved oddly, and while I don't agree with all his analysis's or criticisms, he still was able to comprehend things in a decent way.

Seeing him communicate with MovieBob and have an actual conversation with him makes me rethink him not being a moron in my eyes.

I'm really not surprised to see Bob defend OMD. He can't handle characters changing and moving beyond his preconceived notions. (See Mario.) I'm also not surprised he doesn't like Peter and MJ being married. His attitudes toward marriage and family are disturbing and it's far more mature than anything he could handle.

In his defense the marriage of Mary Jane and Peter Parker was never really handled all that well. Even Linkara who absolutely hates OMD has said that the marriage was never written well and that it's understandable how OMD ended up happening.

I repeat: Spider-Man is (or was) too mature for Bob. Spider-Man. That is simultaneously sad and hilarious.

He's one of the handful of people who can't get over teenage Spider-Man despite that only being the first 20-ish issues before he moved on to college and then adulthood. Realistically that's a footnote for a character who's main series is almost at issue 800 but adaptations covering the origin story have made some people think "teen hero" is all there is. Most of them seem to not get that "growing up" is one of the central themes of Spider-Man since Peter has to step up and become a man after Uncle Ben's death with no safety net to save him.

Somehow no one obsesses over the X-Men not being high school kids or Tony Stark not being a 20 something year old "baby with a mustache". In fact their movie counterparts are all older and middle aged instead of the late 20s/early 30s that most Marvel capes are in the comics. Heck, as the MCU works in real time and we're passing a decade, the movie versions have also been capes for longer in-universe.

Kevin Smith is at least a decade older than Bob. I would not be surprised if Bob had one himself in the next five years. Hell, Bob will probably die on the toilet.
