Not just that, I am willing to bet that no Marvel film has yet matched TDK's amazing cinematography and direction (seriously, the opening bank heist is still amazing after all those years). I like a lot of Marvel films, but they're all basically giant toy commercials. Hell, Marvel still can't color grade their movies properly.
If a bunch of "film critics" can't see that, then we have a clear reason why they are completely disconnected from the fans.
While TDK trilogy is good, I never really liked the realistic approach to Batman, who is a guy who dresses up as a bat, just to beat up bad people that use over the top gadgets and overly-contrived schemes just to kill him, Burton’s films understood, and portrayed Batman exactly as that, a comic book (call me a hypocrite since I enjoyed Homecoming more than the Rami Trilogy). Another thing I didn’t like, which could be blamed more on WB, is the standard it set for the DC movies after it; all heroes need to be dark and brooding throughout whole movie, and heaven forbid they make a single wisecrack.
Heck, I tend to view the lack of color-grading in the MCU, could be interpreted as a means of showing these movies take place in a world not too different from our own, seeing as how the real world lacks many dynamic colors that a lot of other superhero films have. The only actual difference between the MCU, and the real world, I that the MCU, has superheroes in it.
Marvel movies that take place on Earth, tend to take themselves more seriosly, since Earth is a place we actually care about what happens to it, since we live here, while movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, and Thor Ragnarok tend to be more silly and comical, we don’t know much about these places, and don’t care as much about what happens to these places.
As for critics, they tend to judge movies far differently than how fans judge movies; cinematography, directing, effects, story, acting etc. That’s why people unanimously hate the Star Wars Prequels, and enjoy the Sequel Trilogy. The only redeeming quality the Prequels actually had was the story, at least from episodes 2 and 3, which was incredibly hindered due to the poorly executed dialogue, and the bad acting of said dialogue.
Plus, Thanos and Loki, despite well acted performances from Tom Hiddleston and Josh Brolin, will NEVER top Heath Ledger’s Joker.
I’m gonna be honest, Jack Nicholson’s Joker was far more creepy, he killed thousands of Gotham citizens in a single parade, all to get a good laugh. A villain that does horrible things just because they enjoy being evil, is far more scarier (albeit not a very relatable one), than a villain with an philosophy that didn’t make much since.
Though we all know that the only reason Bob hates TDK is because of a completely made-up “Conservative Nazi” theme the film didn’t actually have.
