Just to remind everyone that he also claims to have also paid attention to the ecological movement in the 80s. (Y'know, like how I protested the Iraq War in Kindergarten.) So either he was politically active while one could still count his age on two hands, or he's so preoccupied with trying to be in the right that he makes up complete and utter bullshit that falls apart when you consider how old he was at the time.
I have a hunch that it's the latter.
Oh that's a laugh. The only ecological movement going on in the 80's was bitching about James Watt. There were a small number of eco enthusiasts on colleges, but the bulk of the student populations ignored them. They were just some holdout 70's activists looking for something anything to protest. Even the lefties on campus viewed them as kind of sad and pathetic. They mostly protested about the dining halls. The only other real eco stuff in the 80's were Greenpeace mounting their "Save the Whales" crusade, until France sank the Rainbow Warrior out from under them. The 80's was not a good time to be an Eco Avenger. They were a small, rare and much belittled breed. Who by and large smelled heavily of bad weed and a lack of soap products.
