Slightly

fftopic:, but I’ve been reading
Hillbilly Elgy lately, which details the author’s experience growing up as part of a white working-class family in Appalachia, and what he describes sounds a lot like the problems that African American communities face. Yet Bob only thinks that the latter group is worth saving and seems to believe that the former is the way that they are by choice. I don’t know whether that’s racist in the sense that it implies that only white people have agency, Bob simply harbors an irrational hatred for them, or both.
