If Bob wanted to move to goddamn China, the odds are incredibly stacked AGAINST him. Very few people have become naturalized citizens of China, that you can count how many there are on your fingers and toes. Just take a look at the people who managed to do so and what they did for a living.

The problem with post-scarcity stuff is people will always want more, all you did was just raise the baseline. It's like how some people think we'd be living in some kind of communist utopia if we figured out a way to meet everyone's needs. If anything, trading will still happen but on a grander scale and with less people starving. There are no magic quotas to hit that'll result in a society with zero conflict and be eternally content. Life is all about growth and expansion.Just saying, the fundamental basis of the Star Trek society is that scarcity is a thing of the long past. I guess the idea is that humans would progress past materialism once everybody could in theory own anything, and move into an era of generosity if they knew they would never need anything.
But that is never going to happen, and it doesn't help anyone to pretend that it has happened already.
I hate to use this argument, but why Is GamerGate a thing in the CURRENT YEAR. I am sure people would have move on by now, but no, every six fucking months, with clockworth precision It comes back to smack me right on my Lithuanian-Paraguayan face to bore the shit out of me. I had never, fucking ever seen people this much manufactured outrage until those dark days in 2015, at no point did It seem like there was any legitemate concern over the subject from either side. Hey, asshole, IGN lies to you, Gaming Press was never unbiased, It was always shit, one of It's first publications was called "Nintendo Power" I doubt It had much of an objective perspective. I mean, sure the reviewers got paid to lie, but that has always been a joke with movie and game reviews. There was a TV Show, The Critic, all about that, even then there were always independent reviewers like Yahtzee and Totalbiscuit (Or whoever you personally like, that's not the point I am triying to make) Not to bash too much just one side, but the other is just the typical Feminist lolcascade, to which I can't add anything more, execpt confirm that yes, It's fucking exceptional. Look, there's always going to be someone, left or right, who will try to undermind freedom of expression, radicalism is just an aspect to any ideology, one which you must try to distance yourself as much as possible, and push forward as those extremes start to fade, even If there are short resurgences. Also, Bob sucks. Sorry for the rant I love you all.

You might as well put the world in a bottle and figure out how to freeze time. It'll always be an uphill battle where the little victories are what counts as it's all we can ever have.
I was speaking from the optimistic point of view that someone invents some magic box that gives you anything you want with absolutely no draw back. Eventually someone is going to go "Dude, what if I had TWO magic boxes?" followed by "What if I had a planet of my junk?" and "What if I had a solar system?". It'll just keep getting bigger. Of course, that scenario is still going to hit the issue of space and people will fight over that but there's no "peaceful communist utopia" ending.I'd like to note that The Orville actually worked around this in a slightly more realistic way: they're a post-scarcity society as well, but it's explicitly noted in-universe that being post-scarcity doesn't mean being post-competition. People just compete over different things (specifically reputation) when all their material desires have been made moot.
But I agree, a real post-scarcity society would look something like Calhoun's rat experiment, right before everything went to hell and scarcity reasserted itself with a vengeance. One of the problems that Bob has is not only an inability to distinguish fact from fiction, but a fanatical belief in Whig history that he feels justifies, well, anything. Not that he would describe it in those terms, of course- I would bet money he couldn't tell you what Whig history was without googling it.
Cause Nate Silver was so right last time.

He compensates by having the deepest gutBob has such poor grasp of history and political science that it’s physically painful to read his tweets.
I’ve seen puddles with more depth.
I'd love to see you try, fatty.

It's ironic how the left always thinks the right will enact some fascist dictatorship while it's them who want to take guns away and limit free speech.Fight? With what?
Oh wait. Maybe you'll want some... guns?
[This is where I would insert Bob making fun of gun owner's fantasies of fighting the government but I don't feel like searching through the thread.]
Something that Bob has probably never put thought into the Post-Scarcity Moon Wheat Utopia he has Austically dreamed up is, what is he going to do with all the trash and waste. It can be noted that once something becomes so plentiful it becomes taken for grant and we tend to waste it. So imagine the landfill and logistical nightmare it would be to have 7+ billion average Joes just going to throw away their tablets yearly because they will get a new one. That is simply just one item.
This is what Bob actually believes.
