You're on the right track but I was thinking more about that one character in every King novel who is pretty much just the worst kind of nerd you can conceive. Usually their names are "Walter" or "Eugene" or "Melvin", and their most important characteristic is that they deserve every horror that's about to happen to them. The kind of bad person who, in a literary sense, needs bad things to happen to them.

Also I just have to shake my head at the poor soul trying to convince Bob that if you're trying to abolish the electoral college, it's probably not a good idea to say that it really IS because you don't want other people to have a voice.
