I've met people who work in mines, I've worked with them on certain projects, none of them are stuck in their ways people who are too stupid to move on. They are intelligent people, the problem is many of them are trained specifically in mines, many won't be able to get another job without going back to college, and even going back to college, you really think most men have time to get a 4 year degree without pay at all? A lot of them are 30-40 and have kids to feed. And even if they did, you now expect them to then work at the wages most interns and fresh out of school kids tend to make? (Which means, that Bob was being even lazier than usual in that particular video...)

Also, if Bob is right about the Midwest being full of mayonnaise ghouls trying to preserve their obsolete way of life, then who is HE to judge them? Sure, Bob could argue that factory workers wanting tariffs on foreign goods and a secure border go against HIS interests, (as someone who wants to rely on cheap labor to build his superior future.) But where does Bob get off saying that his interests are objectively right and the Mayonnaise Ghoul's interests are objectively wrong? You could make all sorts of moral arguments as to why relying on local factory labor is more ethical and better for the planet than importing goods made by slaves in polluting factories in China and shipped half way across the world on oil burning tankers.
