Bob has to know his opinions are horrible and indefensible. Otherwise he wouldn't bother with trying to backpedal.

Jesus Christ. Russ really is going to run the site to the ground. With the upcoming lawsuit, and Chipman's constant dehumanizing speeches. It's safer to say the site is utterly fucked.

So much for the a-political reboot returning the site to it's glory days.

...Was he seriously tweeting during the movie?

How can he call people subhuman when he has the nerve to tweet during a movie. Clearly there are no depths Bob will not sink to.

A bit :offtopic: but what is with lolcows and Twitter? It's like a drug to them. Are there any occasions or venues where they won't be tweeting constantly?

Bob is a defender of nobles. He doesn't seem to care about the sweatshop levels of pay and working conditions that went into Metroid Other M and The Last Jedi. Both for the underling developers and the outsourced cheap labor working on copies. Only that the feelings of Yoshio Sakamoto and Rian Johnson (two people who don't even know him BTW) might be hurt because their reception is less than glowing.

You gotta remember Bob thinks we're on the cusp of a post-scarcity economy and the only reason we don't have automated 3d printers manufacturing that shit out of chunks of rock is because factory workers are lobbying against it.

Well you know who would have to work and make those 3d printers, factory workers. Even in Bob's dumbass worldview he can't get rid of folks he hates which is very nice.

Reminds me of once arguing with Bob and he was telling me that I shouldn't take him saying certain humans aren't human seriously as he's in no position to change the definition despite his previous rants about how we need to study if there's some genetic marker than separates conservatives from "modern 21st century man".

And bare in mind: Bob truly thinks of himself as an insider with massive amounts of influence. He only argues he isn't when he has to be held accountable for his terrible opinions.

It seems to go back and forth. Sometimes he seems to think he's an influential figure, widely respected and admired; other times it's more like he thinks he deserves to be such a figure, and no doubt will be exactly that in the next few years (man, that Escapist gig is going to launch his cachet right into the stratosphere, huh?). I don't know which is more delusional.

Has Bob sperged about Venom yet? I asked this because the reviews should be dropping soon and I've heard mixed reactions so far.

I expect him to start sperging about it either today or tomorrow. I wouldn't give the reactions so far any weight. Most of the negative reactions to it so far that I'm seeing is people saying "It's ignoring all the trends that have been set with the MCU!"

I'll wait to see what the film holds myself. Maybe it won't be great-great but I'm sure the only reason people don't like it so far is because it isn't an MCU film.

Just remember: this was the critics reaction vs the fans reaction to The Last Jedi on Rotten Tomatoes.

I'll plan on seeing it the same weekend as A Star is Born, which looks good. I imagine Bob is going to hate is as The Amazing Spider Man.

Bob's boner for "Pop culture is the new world religion" confuses the fuck out of me. It's extremely pretentious.

Bob is clearly misinterpreting the devotion some fans have to certain franchises, which admittedly can come close to religious in their zeal. Nature abhors a vacuum and with Bob being a hard core secularist, it's pretty obvious that he was pop culture to become a new world religion to replace Christian traditions that he sees as being a relic of the "inferior" past. What is curious was how he views the Illiad as a blending history and mythology when the historicity of Homer is up to debate among scholars. A cursory glance at Wikipedia (use it for something other than looking up pop culture, Bob!) tells me that the Trojan War may have been remotely based on a conflict during the 12th century BC.

This is the thing Bob fails to realize: almost everyone in Homer's time were illiterate and people transmitted the tale of the Trojan War orally as written language was still in its infancy. Even most thinkers of Greek antiquity believed it to be a fable. What distinguishes the contemporary West from ancient Greece is that we have an extensive historical record and thus can see parallels between fiction and historical events. For example: the Galactic Empire from the Star Wars trilogy clearly took inspiration from Nazi Germany, which was still fresh in the public's memory thirty years after the Third Reich's defeat, and was still relevant as the Soviet Union took its place as the "evil empire" in the late seventies. Compare to the First Order from the sequel trilogy. It's supposed to be inspired by a supposed resurgence of nazism/fascist ideology in the West, but honestly better reflects the far-left's demented paranoia to the point where it borders on parody. When you peel it all back, it's easy to see Disney-era Star Wars and its embrace of Social Justice as cynical materialism.

If Bob wasn't such an insufferable clump of cells, I might feel sorry for how spiritually empty his life. He has to replace it with the shallowest pop-culture pablum his sausage fingers can grab onto.

But you don’t understand, it was the Russians!!

I wonder when Liberals are going to stop blaming Russia for every problem they have?
