I've said it before but if he wants to fake being an expert on things, he need seriously cut back on fields he's claiming to be knowledgable in. There are no film critic, body builder, comic reader, astronaut, politician, bee keeper, champion boxer, skateboarding pro, fashion designer, marksman, brain surgeon, engineer, deep sea diver, sky diver, poet, pilot, race car drivers out there. Not that Bob has said all those, just a joke.

Like cut it down to like 4 or 5 topics and maybe it'd be believable compared to the man specialized in "everything".
Bob's not an expert in anything but demanding his tendies.

Yeah he's really got to get back to basics, pontificate on things he actually knows well. Like his :autism: encyclopedic knowledge of Mario and uhhh.....

Double-check me on this, but isn't Bob's only claim to the role of "movie critic" that he watched a lot of movies as a kid in lieu of socializing? From what I've seen, he doesn't have a grasp on movies from a technical or historical perspective, certainly not to the point where he could claim some kind of authoritative status.

(Hell, despite what's been theorized in this thread, his grasp of gay culture is almost cartoonishly superficial- pride parades and disco. You'd pick up a more nuanced take on teh gheys just by watching Will & Grace.)

A part of the vast tapestry of lols what is Bob that I think has gone unexamined for too long is the film critics' association he's a proud member of -- I think he was even on the board at some point. Who are these people? Do they have any serious credentials, or are they just a bunch of local movie autists who threw a website together? If they're a reputable outfit, how the hell did Bob snag a spot?

If nothing else I think it's worth looking into because on a couple occasions he's really lost his shit when people have badmouthed it or complained about him to them, and I'm curious why that would be.

IIRC isn't he a founding member of said association? I mean that's one way to avoid getting kicked out for lack of credibility.

He apparently has a degree in film studies even though that hardly means anything honestly. Whenever he deigns to give his opinion it still comes off as an autist who hastily google searched something and uses that to sound like some kind of authoritative expert.
Well, what's the background on this organization (name, location, whatever) so we can look into it? I have a few minutes to spare.

It's the Boston Online Film Critics' Association, he's not mentioned as a founding member but there's enough other writers on that list of his caliber (SJW bloggers writing for illustrious publications like TheMarySue) that he doesn't really stand out as particularly out of place.

I thought his degree was in "communications." Which is an even more BS degree.

According to them and La Wik, they were founded in 1981, so Bob isn't a founder. They seem like the smallest of potatoes- they have their own gay awards (which go to exactly the shit you'd expect) and only get coverage in local media. Scrolling through the members' page, I notice two things: 1) most of these people are small-time, usually having worked for the Boston Globe, a local TV station, or some blog and 2) Bob's not on the list. Is there some kind of "associate member" or other kids' table shit that he might have glommed onto in order to claim membership in this not-so-illustrious organization? I notice they have an internship (per their FAQ) but no list of people who've participated in it. The only thing people like IMDB notice is their awards- they don't even have a separate entry for the society itself.

Honestly, BOFCA seems like a kaffeeklatsch of bloggers in the Boston area as opposed to anything resembling a serious professional organization. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing- for Bob, participating in member functions would probably force him to get out of the house and interact with other people IRL.

DISREGARD THAT, I SUCK COCKS AT INTERNETTING

There are apparently (at least) two Boston-based film criticism societies and I got them mixed up. Both seem to be made up entirely of local personalities and bloggers, but one was founded in 1981 and is slightly more prominent ("has their own wikipedia page and an IMDB acknowledgement of their gay awards" prominent. It's a relative term here) and the other- BOFCA- was founded in 2012 and is less prominent.

Which I suppose prompts the question, "does Bob belong to The Asylum knock-off of the Boston Society of Film Critics?"

EDIT: Wait, this is fucking weird: there's two BOFCAs:

EDIT2: Ah, OK. I see La Wik doesn't have an entry on BOFCA, so Google kicked me over to BSoFC. Ignore most of what I wrote above. Yes, Bob Chipman is a member of BOFCA, and they have their OWN gay awards (what is it with these groups and awards?) Otherwise, they're so no-name they don't appear to exist outside random entries on various stars' wiki pages noting that they (the star) got an award from them (BOFCA.)

His Rotten Tomatoes critic profile says that it was in Multimedia Art and Film Studies from Salem State University. All in all nothing worth mockery (except in the lol everything non-STEM is a joke sense) but also nothing worth bragging about. It also mentions that at one point he was the chairman of the BOFCA. That being said the group founded in 1981 is the distinct Boston Society of Film Critics while the BOFCA was founded in 2012 so it's quite possible Bob was peripherally involved in that.

Thanks for the info. No, that last was a mix-up on my part, I need to have my coffee before trying to do anything other than shitpost.

“Multimedia Art Studies” that sounds like he did his undergraduate degree in fingerpainting and macaroni pictures. I’m thinking
Bob’s parents just sent him to one of those “Special Needs” adult day care facilities and just called it “college”.

Does he have an encyclopedic knowledge of Mario? Not a fan personally, so I can't judge, but I can't recall anyone citing him as an authority, however begrudgingly.
Enough that he wrote an incredibly :autism: book about Super Mario 3 and the 'personal Vietnam' that was the 90s Sega-Nintendo console wars for him.

This is one of Luty's guns.
I know I'm late but

Worth noting that 10% of all guns seized in Australia are home made and lots of them are automatic.

Bob can't fucking help but have an opinion on everything. If there's a conversation going on out there he must voice an opinion on it.
After all that, REEEEEEEEEpublican sperging feels quaint.

"Who cares if this person served his country honorably and was disabled because of it. He deserves to have that disability mocked on television because he's a member of a political party I don't like."

Fuck you Bob. I hope you get hit by a train. You are the most vile, hate filled and disrespectful person on this planet.

I can only assume he doesn't let his freak flag fly in meatspace the way he does on Twitter, because if he did somebody would have decked this smug sack of shit years ago.
