Nerds are not oppressed and I don't recall anyone seriously claiming they were. Fake "nerds" ie. late 30s troons with her alphabet soup sexuality and self-diagnosed metal problems are not oppressed either. Bob is not a blue collar worker clocking in for a grueling 9-5. It's all pretend. There's a reason people call groups like Antifa LARPers.

However, just because nerds aren't oppressed doesn't mean there aren't people trying to keep them down. Snobby critics still think they are above "low-brow" nerd entertainment. There's no shortage of examples, but look at any "high brow" walking simulator and shitty propaganda games critics jerk themselves over, and compare it to popular games that people actually like. Look at how movies like Black Panther and Ghostbusters 2016 are praised by critics despite being largely hated by the general public.

I'm not an evolutionary biologist either, so I actually looked it up, using that handy tool called Google, turns out, no, species becoming bigger is not a sign of the end times, in fact, its normal for a species to get larger as generations pass unless there is some sort of direct evolutionary advantage to being small. Bobs reasoning is flawed because because it overplays theshallow perception of geekdom being vogue because people like game of throne. Mainstreme critical success of fantasy/sci fi is not a counter culture domination. If anything the shunning of fantasy was an artificial product of the limitations of modern media, Anglican mythic culture being underdeveloped because of the Norman conquest and weird 20th century hang ups about art. Historically fiction stories are crammed pack full of magic and such. As our capacity to make such things has caught up in tv and cinema and it's natural the public would come back to their craving for high adventure. The resurgance of mainstreme fantasy has led to the idea that such things are inherantly linked with 'nerd' counter culture, but this is a mistake which will fade in time.
It also works on the faulty assumption that nerd culture is a monolithic entity distinct from everyone else rather than a series ofmiddle class niche sub-cultures which interact with each other. GoT and marvel may be producing blockbusters but nobody at work wants to here me talk about Vampire the masquerade PC's any more than they (or I) want to hear about my colleagues fondness for collecting transformers.
