You know, for someone whose Dad just died of cancer, you'd think he'd be more sympathetic for a family that's going all out to try every little thing to keep their relative alive. Also, going through official channels to get an expedited passport for a time-sensitive reason (giving money to the economy of the country you're going to in the process,) is a lot different from "sneaking into a country without a passport because the place you live is a shithole and the place you want to move to will give you free welfare and let you be a scab worker."

Bob's take is that the people getting outraged over this are misunderstanding how movies are made, and that they put auteur theory on too high of a pedestal (which is an argument he's often made to defend the MCU from people who criticize the films for being too producer-driven). In reality, he argues, the director is more often than not merely responsible for ensuring that all the different pieces of the movie crafted by various different teams form a cohesive whole.

Bobby is right for a change, and this is exactly why James Gunn is dispensable.

And of course Bob misses the meaning of the idiom, "Forgive and forget." The "forget" is not so much forgetting, but letting go of any past bitterness towards an individual or group. As long as he harbors resentment in his heart, his "forgiveness" is effectively meaningless because he will hold whatever perceived slight against them over them for the rest of his life. Unfortunately for Bob, past resentment towards others is practically the only thing that give his life meaning because it is what fuels his unfettered malice and unearned sense of superiority over vast swaths of the population. Case in point, the reason why he still keeps the #RehireJamesGunn in his Twitter handle because he cannot let go of that "transgression" against him. It does not matter that Disney is never, EVER going to bring James Gunn back to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Bob needs to feel powerful in his own mind to stave off the realization that he has no influence in his chosen field.

The irony of this is that his clinging on to past resentments makes him look flaccid (partly because of the beetus') and helpless. Hell, it has been twenty years since he graduated from high school and he never, ever let go of the resentment he held against his alleged "bullies." He simply transferred it towards "gamer bros" and the working class, but it goes to show that the people who tormented him still hold power over him long after they forgot who he was. Lord, it would be hilarious if Bob went to his class reunion and gloats about his "accomplishments" to his ex-bullies and their response would be, "Who the fuck are you?" Hell, most of his classmates would laugh at how he still obsesses over Nintendo as a single middle-aged man with no marriage or career prospects.

Honestly, I believe that Bob's recent admissions about anxiety are a subconscious realization that he knows that he wasted his life. He seems to have all but given up on having children of his own and seems to have now focused on his niece and nephew. All he has to show for it are the grudges he carried for a lifetime and the vacuous entertainment Disney spoon feeds him to assuage the pain of his pathetic existence.

And the biggest tragedy is he could have avoided it ALL OF IT if he simply let out all that hatred, and bitterness. He would have grown, found someone to settle down, create a healthy way, and even secured his legacy for the future. But instead he threw all chance of being happy away to the drain for a short term, petty revenge, and a quest of power with self righteousness that in the end will forget him once history books begin to be written. All of this COULD have been avoided. But he prefers the Chipman pride to die in a fiery explosion than to admit he was wrong.

Louis CK has done more in his career than Bob could ever hope to. Louis CK may be a pudge who needs to jerk off in front of women on a regular basis, (yechh) but he knows what's funny and what's not. The fact that the SJW mob is turning against him says more about the capricious viciousness of said mob than it does about Louis' ability to be funny.
