So Bob’s complaining about how miserable his life is and crass remarks about lower-class whites has got me thinking about their respective earnings and living situations, so I thought I’d do some math to illustrate the differences.

The average retail or service worker working 40 hours minimum wage in Massachusetts makes $23,040 a year before taxes (and keep in mind Massachusetts has very high taxes and minimum wage compared to most states). His boss has control over what hours he works and he is at his beck and call if they’re understaffed or someone calls in sick.

Bob makes $4,159 a month off of Patreon, and this isn’t even taking into account his other gigs at places like Geek.com or Screerant. So even using that conservative figure, his annual earnings come out to $49,908 before taxes. He also has complete control over his schedule and can work as much or as little each day as he pleases, and I guarantee you that the aforementioned worker would kill for that luxury in addition to those earnings.

So yeah, Bob’s living like a king compared to the people he berates and ridicules on a regular basis, and is absolutely punching down in a lot of cases.

And that's not even taking into consideration how difficult it is to find minimum wage work that's full-time. Making ends meet on minimum wage can often mean taking two jobs and dealing with double the bullshit. The fact that Bob makes more money than someone that actually does something useful like unloading trucks or washing cars is a prime example of income inequality, and Bob should be heavily taxed in the superior future.
