bobs legacy is going to be of angry twitter triads and embarrassing video and photos on the internet. If bob would die in a week from now, I think that nobody except for us, would remember him a year from now.
The only legacy he’ll have though at least from my opinion will be his Pixels spergfest.

Breakdown because of pitts or is the midlife crisis finally hitting? Or maybe escapist 2.0 is about to go down?

Does this mean that Bob is tiring of his internet fan posse? His boosters do seem to be rather more rabid than I would have expected a balding, narcissistic diabetic to have, -- every video I see criticizing Bob has about a dozen comments attacking the vidmaker. Could it be there's a fanbase so annoying that even the object of its devotion is embarrassed by it?

Wow is he finally gaining some self awareness? That the worthless shitlords he clearly admires/looks up/or expects respect from don’t give a damn about him? Was he expecting Zoe and Anita to give him a gold star sticker and pat him on the head for being a “good boy”?

Self realization is powerful but Blobb has too many blinders and is a major stubborn asshole who won’t actually change.

Bob is watching his beloved brain damaged followers rampage and seek to burn down Bob’s own employer of last resort. Needless to say this is leaving Bob in a “conflicted” mental space. Perhaps the most hilarious thing about it is “ Gamergate” is destroying Bob’s career again, without the actual Gamergate, Gamergaters or Gamers being in any way involved. It’s like watching a Twilight Zone episode where the paranoid locals turn in each other. Seeing ghosts and aliens behind every shadow. While the actual aliens are sitting on a hillside watching and wondering wtf is wrong with those people? Bob’s life is being destroyed by the mere idea of Gamergate. Someone on his side whispered the name which cannot be said, and thus out come the wailing witchfinders with pitchforks and torches.

It’s fucking glorious. Say what you will about Gamergate, but you gotta love the way they so managed to live rent free in all of these special snowflakes heads such that even today the merest whisper of them send the autistic herd into a screeching blood frenzy turning on their own. Causing actual ruinous harm to their own friends coworkers and allies. Just the simple phrase “ethics in games journalism” triggers an explosive frenzy of mass self destruction. It really is fascinating.

Bob just does not understand the landscape of modern video games, and this video is the crowning example of that.

He rambles for the first half of the video about Gamestop going out of business being a bad thing because it reduces human interaction gamers have/consumer choice and that human (physical?) interaction being a huge part of pre-2000s/2010s gaming culture. This doesn't make sense. Gamestop was only a good place for used games after shit started going digital (which he does mention), but now eBay and Amazon exist for physical copies of used games/older games. Gamestop is going the way of Sears and Blockbuster because they adapted the wrong way to a changing climate. They bought fucking Thinkgeek and implemented all their products into their physical locations, taking up valuable shelf space with shit no one was in any rush to buy. Gamers (I hate the word) interact with each other all the time online, and that connection is just as good as any connection made at a convention or anywhere else. Bob acts like the only place middle-American gamers could interact was in a Gamestop at the end of this video, which is just plain wrong. He treats middle-America like no one there has internet connection or half a brain, which is pretty typical for someone with views as liberal as his, but still. I know plenty of people from middle-America via Discord or other social apps. They're not missing shit if every Gamestop within 100 miles of them goes out of business, they can go to Walmart if they really need something physically (Walmart isn't going anywhere, and neither is their gaming/gaming merch section, in case you were wondering).

The second half is about digital sales being license agreements/volatile as digital storefronts cease to operate, which I could see. But even so, Steam and other services allow backups of games on to PHYSICAL storage, like HDDs and SSDs. If all gaming was done via PS Now/Cloud based services... I could see reason for panic. Physical storage isn't going anywhere, even if CDs and Blu-rays and physical copies of games are obscure at this point.

Sorry if video was posted already, I don't know if Escapist uploads videos a week early to their website anymore still like they did at some point lmfao

You're sick of "Paying for the actions of others"?

... I am absolutely dumbstruck by the irony of that. This is the same asshole that wants to euthanize all Republicans and anyone to the right of Lenin. This is the same asshole that believes in reparations for slavery.

Whoever asked if he was becoming aware... The only thing he's ever aware of is the contents of the fridge and the fact that Yahtzee gets paid far more than he does (Which he gets salty as shit about, from what I've seen).

Moviebob is so lacking in self-awareness that he could be a one man case for how crucial critical thinking is, or atleast a cautionary tale about narcissism.

Funny thing is that the anti-GG crowd declared victory, yet the question remains: how is it victory when the specter of Gamergate continues to haunt them? They have effectively lost the psychological war if they succumbed to their paranoia.

Well when you are a bunch a bitter folks with an agenda, of course you will see enemies everywhere when a bunch of spergs called you out for what you were. They won the battle but not the war, not because of any part of GG, but their own delusions of importance and not letting this event pass them.

I can see this with Bob because that was the event where he got fired.

My hypothesis on that is because GG was the first real big 'resistance' (As gay as it was) to their ideas and as a result, they tacked onto it every negative label under the sun onto it, so it's kinda like 'alt right'. It's a catch-all way to call someone a racist, sexist; whatever, without outright saying it.

I guess I can say these people have literally been programmed like a Pavlovian dog, to froth at the mouth on command. And the magic word is 'Gamergate'. For all the declarations of victory, they allow a hashtag to live rent free in their heads.

I also think because, and this is according to Ryan Holiday, Gamergate was successful enough to make Gawker media lose hundreds of millions of dollars. Imagine the financial impact of GG on all these two-bit blogs, and you can see another reason why they froth at the mouth at the mere mention of GG.

The ironic thing is that Bob has never once ever had to pay for the actions of others. Gamergate didn't get him fired from his job at The Escapist. He got fired because he couldn't shut the fuck up about Gamergate after being specifically told by his bosses to do so.

Bob has systematically made his life so stressful by being an overly-emotional and angry internet sperg.

Bob acts like the only place middle-American gamers could interact was in a Gamestop at the end of this video, which is just plain wrong.

Bob mentioned that online communication isn't real socialization, saying that arcades and playing games at a friends meant learning to act as someones guest. ie. "This isn't the same as when I grew up so it doesn't count."

Bob hates the term "gamers" too and tried to change it to players. It didn't stick.

So because I haven’t been paying a ton of attention to this thread lately so I’m a bit out of the loop, could someone explain to me what’s going on right now between Bob and The Escapist?

The Escapist 2.0 is dying a slow death and Russ (Bob's boss and owner of The Escapist) thought it would be a great idea to start talking about GamerGate without adequate shilling for the literally whos. He also admitted that GG might have had a point. Now progressive Twitter hates him, and gamers hate him for digging up the whole "gamers are dead" bullshit.

Bob is now torn between yelling at his boss and keeping quiet for the sake of the job. Not only that, but with The Escapist dying Bob might end up losing his job again anyway, and judging from the recent Tweets Bob's fanbase is going full "no bad tactics" on Russ and Bob is getting flak for it.
