Bob is now torn between yelling at his boss and keeping quiet for the sake of the job. Not only that, but with The Escapist dying Bob might end up losing his job again anyway, and judging from the recent Tweets Bob's fanbase is going full "no bad tactics" on Russ and Bob is getting flak for it.
I think you might be confused, friendo. Bob has won. He's reclaimed what is his and his future is all onward and upward. He's won so much, beetus is throwing up the white flag.

Losing is part of the Inferior Past.

Funny thing is that the anti-GG crowd declared victory, yet the question remains: how is it victory when the specter of Gamergate continues to haunt them? They have effectively lost the psychological war if they succumbed to their paranoia.

Two of the defining characteristics of the American Left and Right. The Left is incapable of recognizing or admitting when they lose. They are the stewards of future history after all. They will not be denied. So in all circumstances they declare victory and preen. Even as the ship sinks around them. Whereas the Right has is so accustomed to losing that they just assume that is a permanent state, take the lefts word for it, and trudge along in their bitter misery, never recognizing when they are actually winning, thus failing to capitalize it, and thus letting victory slip away unnoticed or unacted upon. (Paul Ryan is the Rights poster child for this.)

The truth with Gamergate is the Gamergaters won. They won after the first conomic quarter, when they imparted economic and financial effects in the industry. But the gamers were incapable of recognizing this so they kept on ree’ing. And the anti GG crowd was incapable of accepting this, so they kept in ree’ing.and thus continued the holy war.

They are the stewards of future history after all.

They aren't just stewards, they are heroes and active participants. When your great grand kids read about the great civil rights leaders who stood up to oppression. It won't be limited to Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King, but include names like Anita Sarkeesian, Zoe Quinn, and Brianna Wu. Photos of "whites only" water fountains juxtaposed with horrific images of GamerGate Tweets and Black Panther not winning a best picture Oscar. Depression Quest and Gone Home will be to games what Citizen Kane and To Kill A Mocking Bird are to film. Siskel and Ebert? Nobodies compared to the towering intellect of Moviebob Chipman and Jim Sterling.

Bob just does not understand the landscape of modern video games, and this video is the crowning example of that.

He rambles for the first half of the video about Gamestop going out of business being a bad thing because it reduces human interaction gamers have/consumer choice and that human (physical?) interaction being a huge part of pre-2000s/2010s gaming culture. This doesn't make sense. Gamestop was only a good place for used games after shit started going digital (which he does mention), but now eBay and Amazon exist for physical copies of used games/older games. Gamestop is going the way of Sears and Blockbuster because they adapted the wrong way to a changing climate. They bought fucking Thinkgeek and implemented all their products into their physical locations, taking up valuable shelf space with shit no one was in any rush to buy. Gamers (I hate the word) interact with each other all the time online, and that connection is just as good as any connection made at a convention or anywhere else. Bob acts like the only place middle-American gamers could interact was in a Gamestop at the end of this video, which is just plain wrong. He treats middle-America like no one there has internet connection or half a brain, which is pretty typical for someone with views as liberal as his, but still. I know plenty of people from middle-America via Discord or other social apps. They're not missing shit if every Gamestop within 100 miles of them goes out of business, they can go to Walmart if they really need something physically (Walmart isn't going anywhere, and neither is their gaming/gaming merch section, in case you were wondering).

The second half is about digital sales being license agreements/volatile as digital storefronts cease to operate, which I could see. But even so, Steam and other services allow backups of games on to PHYSICAL storage, like HDDs and SSDs. If all gaming was done via PS Now/Cloud based services... I could see reason for panic. Physical storage isn't going anywhere, even if CDs and Blu-rays and physical copies of games are obscure at this point.

Sorry if video was posted already, I don't know if Escapist uploads videos a week early to their website anymore still like they did at some point lmfao

To be fair, if not for them now stocking toys and stuff, I'd never step into Gamestop. I buy my video games at the local mom and pop video game store or Wal-Mart, never Gamestop. The only ONLY reason I go into Gamestop, is for toys since Gamestop (or at least my local Gamestop) gets action figures in as soon as they come out (most notably Marvel Legends stuff). They get in said figures way quicker than Walmart or the local comic shop (both of which either don't get in entire waves of action figures or only get them three-four months later than everyone else and often only get in a single wave at that).

Funny thing is that the anti-GG crowd declared victory, yet the question remains: how is it victory when the specter of Gamergate continues to haunt them? They have effectively lost the psychological war if they succumbed to their paranoia.

Because it's an effective tool to terrorize the proles and Outer Party members and keep them "in line", and keep their stranglehold over the narratives/base of power relating to mainstream media.

Even though they "won" (or at least proclaimed that they won via their anti-life heralds in the mainstream media), it basically woke the masses up to their bullshit and you can't un-ring that bell.

And more to the point, Gamergate was the Archduke Ferdinand to Zoe Quinn's Gavrilo Princip. It started a chain reaction that basically ANNIHILATED long term plans for a Clinton Restoration (which were 16 years in the making) and the consecration of a thousand year SJW Reich, set into motion Gen X-Y seeing the liberal media, as being just like Fox News/conservative media as far as being lying liars who can never be trusted. And most notably, set into motion a cultural shift that culminate in freaking Donald Trump being elected President.

Gamergate keeps getting brought up, because no matter how loud the SJW horde scream that "they won", at best it was a Pyrrhic victory. Think Dangerous Liaisons: Glenn Close won and turned all of her rivals into whores and got Valmont killed, but at the end of the day all of her sins and crimes were made public and the masses will NEVER let them have a moment's peace or let anyone forget what they did or let them do it again.

I literally barked out in laughter when skimming I came across this: "The so-called “Gamergate” fiasco". I don't know if it can be called "so-called" if it was, in fact, called that.

Rest assured that Bob will be working along side Russ Pitts day and night to regain your trust.

Can we get a TL;DR? This verbal diarrhea is painful.

EDIT: The more I try to slog through this mess the more I feel I'm reading the ravings of a genuinely crazy person.

It is painfull. Russ Pitts, editor in chief of The Escapist, made an article earlier this week doing something with GooberGob. I didn't read it and it's gone now. I noticed that something was up because Zooey was in a pissing match with him about GooberGob and how she's got the trauma or something. Russ cucks and apologizes. Bob is now apologizing for coming back The Escapist after he """"left""""" because apparently The Escapist is still the hive of villainy and misogyny that it was 4 years ago.

I've only read bits and pieces because, well...it's Bob's writing, but I kid you not it really seems like he's apologizing for just being associated with The Escapist. There might be more to it but all the tweets about this have been deleted.

EDIT: I'm truly trying to get through this tome of a blog post but it is so horrendously written...my head...

I was aware of the Russ Pitts article and the screeching reaction to it, and I've seen some of Bob's elusive tweets about it. (Preserved a few on this very thread.) And having read what I can of this tortured, self-pitying prose, I glean two things:

1) He's throwing Russ under the bus, which might mean his tenure at The Escapist is coming to an end again, regardless of whether the website survives.

2) He spends so much time talking about his own mental issues (Bob, get a refund on the therapy; it doesn't seem to be doing much) that I strongly suspect the subtext here is "Don't come after me, Twitter Mob! I'm depressed and doing what I can to address it! No mas! No mas!"

EDIT: I did a word count on this mess. It's over 3800, just about 6 single spaced pages. Keeee-rist.

I'm sure there's a BetterHelp code he could use.

Honest to God, whoever said it's like reading the ramblings of a crazy person was dead on. I've been reading for 10 minutes now and I just had to stop. 20,000 words trying to hint at something everyfuckingbody already knows - Pitt BAD. Only Pitt is a family friend and dinner companion or something and this whole horrible/horrid/horticulture thing isn't really his fault, despite Pitt being the worst piece of shit ever seen on the internet. This is all the goblins' fault, despite them having nothing to do with the article, Chelsea's response, Pitt's horrible/horrific/Huguenot response to the response, Bob's getting pissy at Chelsea and Co., Russ's capitulation or any thing else he can throw inside a pair of parenthesis.

See that? Fucking like 70 words. Step up your game, fat man.

One running theme with Chippy is that he always acts like he's holding all the cards, even when those cards happen to be a promotional magnet from a Chinese place up the street, a "how to play" card, one of his own business cards from The Escapist (embossed in crayon), and a fucking Mountain.

If Bob really does lose his job at The Escapist again, I'm looking forward to all the different ways he'll rewrite his history when talking about his second stint with them.

"I was never really that excited about rejoining The Escapist."

"I never really liked Russ Pitts."

"I didn't have chat logs released that helped fuel a lawsuit against The Escapist."
