Relegating important or even interesting plot points and character development to ancillary material such as comics, video games, tie-in novels, and cartoons is one of the biggest reasons the Star Wars prequels were trash, and a disgustingly obvious bit of corporate whoring. Instead he's mostly been sperging out about Sonic's design in the upcoming movie adaption. They're flailing around unable to explain how Trump and his administration can be taking a hardline stance against Nicolas Maduro when Maduro has the support of Putin without it going against their pet conspiracy theory, so the response from the blue checkmark brigade has mostly been to avoid the subject entirely.

It's also worth noting that this is already a thing that happens. Granted the MCU tie-ins since the Entertainment/Studios split have been mostly retelling the movies with one or two added scenes to set up the next one but you'd think Bob the comic reader would know about them.
