I mean, wearing a solid color blazer with a pop culture T-shirt underneath it is douchey, but I can see a normal, tryhard, overeducated male trying to establish his geek cred by wearing this ensemble. Even the Mario blazer I can understand since he's trying to show off his fandom and create an air of whimsy around his brother's children. But the shit Bob's been wearing lately? I think he's attempting to peacock in the same manner that Chris-chan was attempting to attract the ladies by "getting in touch with his feminine side". Both men think flamboyant displays will turn the heads of the opposite sex. Unfortunately, the potato mugs that are attached to those flashy outfits are more of a repellant than the outfits are an attractant. The outfit Bob is wearing in that video has the same color scheme as the first free-hosted Tripod.com website that I built way back in the early days of the internet. Back when I didn't realize how badly certain colors would clash or that trying to read banana yellow text on a dark red and black background would give you eye cancer. Bob is the Tripod.com of fashionistas.

I would say that Miramax somewhat counts considering they existed to pick up more independent style films and ones that were more of a gamble, similar to Fox Searchlight today which I am glad that Disney isn't shuttering.

I've heard the marketing theory before from people, but I work in marketing and I'm just saying it's not that subtle and emotionally engaging most of the time. No agency or studio would say "let's make people afraid of incels, we will get so much press!" Only people unfamiliar with marketing and business think there's no such thing as bad publicity. Most publicity is bad publicity, and it's mostly hurdles.

Also this movie was going to be huge when it was announced, people love this dumb fucking character, the moment you added some of the biggest stars on the planet to one of the most popular characters in one of the most profitable genres on the planet, yeah it was gonna be popular so much.
If this is indeed guerilla marketing, it is working against the popularity. People don't want to hear that there's gonna be trouble if they go to see a fucking comic book character movie, the threat of violence and political dissent and over-complication of attendance in no way makes the movie more appealing.
It will succeed in spite of this, if anything.
