But to make your knee jerk reaction when you see a proeminent black woman director is to do your silly match color and genitalia game for capeshit, fuck, if I was Diop I would be kinda pissed "so that is what I am good for huh? to validate a silly character from a silly comic created by a couple of white man so white people on twitter can feel good about themselves praising the movie?"

And don't give the fucking "repesentation and new perspective" bullshit, because representation would be posing for photos with a bunch of white producers who are not just making the bulk of money, but also the bulk of decisions, because when a disney capeshit production rolls in, all the director has to do is to fill the blanks between the action set pieces and set 3 act structure and maybe add woke shit in some lines, and there you go, out of the door.

Mati Diop was born and raised in France. If these people's thinking is that someone needs to have experienced something similar to the person they're making a movie about, why the fuck would Diop be a good fit for making a movie about a woman raised among primitive tribals in Africa?
