TL;DR is basically Bob’s persecution complex rears it’s ugly head in a discussion about political strategy for the left and when people call him out on it, he adopts his usual tactic of backpedaling and siccing his followers on them via retweets.

To people like Bob (I'm basing this on old Bob memories and similar communities), gaming was all sunshine and roses until the release of the Playstation. Detailed pixel art was replaced with ugly 3D models. Imagination (ie. mascot platformers) was replaced with sex, violence, realism, story, and mature content with games like Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, and Tomb Raider. Gaming was split in 2. On one side, you had the "dude bro" zone where you are only allowed to play Halo, Madden, and Grand Theft Auto. On the other, you had Nintendo.

That Nintendo ghetto was not safe haven either. Because Nintendo was pandering to kids with games like Pokemon and Smash Bros. They aren't true and honest Nintendo because it's not Bob's childhood favorites. To Bob, Mario is the messiah, but the far more popular Pikachu is a false prophet that is only tolerated because it gets Nintendo into more households.

As for Goldeneye and Perfect Dark (and let's add Turok in there as well). I'm going to say those likely get a pass because either A: Bob wasn't really gaming much when they came out, B: They were games his circle of friends enjoyed, or C: They came out before Halo made FPS games the dude bro genre.

Random aside, but it's amazing that ever since CoD:Modern Warfare was released, you can litmus test with perfect accuracy who actually played the game by if they call it racist against Middle Eastern people or minorities. Literally every big bad in the Modern Warfare series is either a Russian stereotype, an American, or even your own fucking U.S army general, while every minority class person was just being manipulated by them to do bad things.
