AirBNB specifically has been cancer to the renting scene because a shitton of wannabe landlords who aren't actually liquid enough to buy a property but make enough for endless rent contracts gobble up the best housing in downtown cores to rent out as a vacation hotel, dodging existing regulations for both hotels and being a landlord. I'm sure Bob's intellectual understanding of that is precisely zero, living in his brother's basement as he does, but he lurks enough in lefty twitter circles for the reflexive distaste for Airbnb to sink in.
Bob, like so many others, confuses communism with welfare. Communism and Socialism are economic systems where the government controls the economy and decides what will be made and how much will be made, and has a goal for a basic standard of living. Welfare, stimulus packages, and public works projects are not communism, the state isn't telling businesses how many shoes to produce this year or ensuring that everyone makes a certain amount of money a year, its using tax dollars to help needy people or provide a service that a private business might not be able to. There's a difference between a one time check from the government in trying times and the state deciding how much your job is going to pay you.
The only way Bob can understand anything is if it's filtered through big budget, mass market, geek culture media and assumes the same for the rest of society.
I'm really tired of all these mindless political assholes simultaneously whining about Corona Chan while saying that all the BLM protests have been good. You can't have it both ways, fuckers. The protests over George Floyd spread the love on the largest scale the country has seen. Either you don't think that's a big deal, or you should admit that those protests were a lot more harmful than the incident that incited them and the widespread cultural promotion of them by woke corporations and Democrats was grossly irresponsible. Either way shut the fuck up about Drumpf and re-opening protests in relation to Corona Chan. You've lost all right to complain about them.
