Namely, if you remove the author's intent of a work, can you ever determine if a work is satire or not? Or can you make anything satire then? (The Godfather as satire of Italian American culture...)
Can you look at the recent censorship of the blackface episodes of It's Always Sunny, and the D&D episode of Community, and come to any conclusion other than "it doesn't matter"? Or more to the point, what other than Mel Brooks' jewishness spares his body of work from the long knives? Not for lack of trying from all corners, bear in mind.

That's the entire point of weaponizing death of the author, and not limited at all to satire or parody. Use of genre, form, or style, is second-order to whether or not taking a given position on a work is politically expedient. The entire point is to recontextualize work in the matter most politically-expedient for use as propaganda, not critical analysis. And indeed, to this end it serves a dual purpose: to excuse problematic elements of politically expedient work and by politically expedient persons, and to problematize politically inconvenient work and by politically inconvenient persons.

Case in point, J.K. Rowling. The idpol left had been taking aim at her for at least two or three years, over the various "retcon X character as gay for good PR" instances as well as perceived lack of racial diversity and ethnic stereotyping. Up until recently there was concerted pushback even among the idpol left because her politics made her convenient to defend, and consistently fell in the "it's okay to like problematic things" camp. But since the Mara Forstater shit, she became politically inconvenient to defend; thus, the same reasoning inverts to problematize her work and validate criticisms, levied by people who until that point defended her.

"Death of the author" is just another vehicle for the Orwellian politics of the idpol left. Questions such as what relevance it bears to satire, are simply irrelevant.

LE’s previous comments about Bob date back to 2014. If she wasn’t revolted by Bob’s firehose of diarrhea takes on politics and culture BEFORE the 2016 election, she sure is now. Trump becoming president broke Bob’s already smooth brain, and it’s not just “haters” who noticed it.

I... is VICE actually stupider than Bob?

Bob calling people “stupid” multiple times, in the same tweet where he thinks he’s taking a brave stand on “ableism,” is classic Bob. That is to say: smug, sanctimonious, and utterly lacking self-awareness.
ugh you fucking Failsons just can't grasp his superior intellect.

If he only got a free ride to Harvard he would have invented space travel. But he has to make due with his super popular youtube series.

Yesterday, Bobby thinks "class analysis is not obsolete"; today, he think he is "utterly disinterested in what passes for class analysis in present discourse". What kind of true-and-honest class analysis Bobby is really interested is best left to the interpretation of his disciples.

Instead of saying southerners they should just say "lower populated states and rural areas" because while I don't think Robert has said southern states specifically he has definitely ranted about how low populated rural areas and red states deserve to feel the boot.

Movie Boba the Hutt ruining prequel memes for everybody.

When even fucking Noam Chomsky says this tactic is too extreme, and your response is to feel let down by him, maybe you're less of a political crusader than a spiteful asshole with an excuse.

Chomsky may be a disgusting traitor who hates America and stanned for the worst Communist government ever, the Khmer Rouge, but he's also smart enough to know his brand of bullshit is deeply unpopular and if freedom of speech disappears, sooner or later his kind will be fucked by it.

You know, a buddy and I were literally having a debate about this the other day, but what impact does "Death of the Author" have... on satire?

Namely, if you remove the author's intent of a work, can you ever determine if a work is satire or not? Or can you make anything satire then? (The Godfather as satire of Italian American culture...)

Historical, political or economical context, generally. Satire especially is usually aimed at something contemporary to when it was written.

Any literary criticism worth it's salt, even while operating under Death of the Author, would also be considering the style and tone of the writing, which should inform the reader's understanding.

The problem is that most of the people employing Death of the Author display a level of literary comprehension on par with a toddler.

No, he's invoking stereotypes of the South to try to make the case "class reductionism" is inherently racist. Just, never mind it's a common slur to shut down and silence any and all forthcoming discussion of class and is yet another layer of social justice DARVO tactics. Not to mention, the very last place he ever wants to talk about outside the most tightly-controlled set of definitions, are the parts of the United States most negatively impacted by four decades' of neoliberal accelerationism: the Rust Belt and upper Midwest. The whole-ass reason those are purple states now, and why Democrats have lost labor unions for the most part (actual labor unions, as opposed to prominent white-collar and public service unions still around), is because they threw labor to the wolves in the '90s chasing the PMC vote.

Not to mention, the additional layer of irony to this, is the South is still generally impoverished and indeed worse off in many places than the Rust Belt, sparing occasional pockets of wealth invariably tied to energy, defense, tourism, aerospace, and to a lesser extent logistics, sectors.

I'm her defense, when she did this interview there wasn't a repository like this one filled with faithful members of The Church of Bob spreading the superior word of the Lapsed Pope. He also wasn't spewing his weirdo hatred nearly as often as he is now, or at least not to as many people.

2016 did it. Trump's election broke his brain in some fundamental way. To be fair, he's far from the only example -- I'm sure M'lady Ellis's stuff has gotten more unhinged since the Trumpocalypse -- but Bob turned his hatred on regular people (which had probably always been festering just under the surface) in a way even the most deranged Trump hater can usually avoid. Even the worst of those seem to know when they've crossed a line. Bob not only doesn't think he's crossed a line; he thinks you're a cowardly, stupid asshole if you even believe there is a line.

Trump became his convenient excuse to excise the flyover wasteland mayonnaise ghouls like the abscess or cancer that they are.

You're not wrong, but as long as he only implied it and didn't say it directly he'll just deny it. Then again, if he's called out on something he did say directly, he'll say he was just joking or it was hyperbole.

Looters and their retarded accomplices tore down statues! And yet they scream bloody murder when a flag went missing?!
How much college do you need to take in order to be this stupid?

Bobby shouts at Trump Jr.

Barely comprehensible discourse between Bobby and Nerdskull, about the Harper's letter that calls for the need to maintain open debate.

Bobby thinks supporters for non-partisan open debate would mind seeing their names next to their ideological opponents. Shows you what a small-minded, pre-stone age troglodyte he is.

Still, Bobby recognizes that there is something better than getting mad, and that is creeping on young girls:

Does anyone know what the fuck he is referring to here? It must be blazing saddles, right?

The photo;
I don't know, but considering the way it's phrased and that emoji I have the uncomfortable feeling this is more of Robert's horny on main posting, especially since he made a couple of Tweets shortly after that are definitely that. I imagine he slipped into a fantasy of these women shoveling that fruit in his gaping maw while stroking his fat folds as he lies back in a recliner dressed in a toga.
