Hell, has he ever stopped to watch and analyze films by some of the names that cinema buffs praise, like Sergei Eisenstein, Andrei Tarkovsky, Yasujiro Ozu or Werner Herzog, just to name a few? Hell, doesn't need to go far. He could see the innovations brought by people like Orson Welles, Francis Ford Coppola and Sam Peckinpah. Anything other than the usual blockbuster fare made for laymen like me to just watch and enjoy, and not think too highly about its themes and methods.

Bob had a reading list of must read books and must watch old films in his "building a better gamer" episode. Bob also said you should eat healthy and not be rude online, so my guess is the answer to your question is "no".

Its Halloween season there are thousands of scary movies to talk about instead he rages at the President for somehow stealing his Halloween away from him and hopes the Senate Majority leader is fatally ill. Not only was what he was posting on his "professional business account" off-topic and inappropriate but he wasn't even doing his job in the first place. Dudes made like five new videos this year during a time when he and half the country were forced to stay indoors. He could have talked about hidden gems he found on streaming services, niche low-budget entertainment, or rewatch some old movies and see how they hold up. Instead he just reuploaded videos from his YouTube channel and called it a day so he could Tweet nonstop for 22 hours a time. I don't know about you but if I was a manager and an employee wasn't doing his job I'd let him go just like the Escapist.

Ostensibly this is a guy who talks movies with a strong bias toward comic book genres and a background in videogames. Going to his "professional" feed should reflect that -- links to essays, thoughts on various flicks, inviting debate on the Snyder cut and where is Superman going, all that kind of crap. But going to his feed got you very little of that and a ton of politisperging ... and not intelligent or interesting politisperging, but vicious invective, sneering, condescension, lots of blocking, and obnoxious slapfights.

I can just imagine a different Bob putting the question to him as he scrolls through this endless vomit of hate and bitterness:

He did talk about politics, and we (or I) noticed it, but it was 1: correct and 2: could be handwaved as hyperbole.

Well to be fair to Bob, he wasn't exactly fired, The Escapist simply didn't renew their contract with him. I think there is a bit of a difference there (fucking up and having your contract with your employer voided vs. your employer saying "Thank you. We no longer require your services. The way that the Escapist handled it makes it seem not very professional or amicable. The professional thing would of been to work it out with Bob so it could be announced by him and the Escapist at the same time or let Bob announce it first, that way Bob could save face. They announced it on their own and with the delay between that announcement and Bob going into cope mode it seems like it was a bit of a surprise to him too, So either the Escapist is either super unprofessional or Bob pissed off a lot of people at the top.

Unfortunately, if past is prologue, then it's going to take a very long time for his earnings to drop to panic-mode levels. It took a steady drop of over two years for him to reverse his last bump. On the other hand, by all other metrics, he's still not doing so hot. His Youtube channel has been slowly losing subscribers since hitting a peak back in August of last year, and so far that hasn't reversed course. None of his videos are getting anything close to a respectable number of views, rarely even breaking 10k. His last video that did respectably well was his Really That Good on Star Wars (Bob with the hot takes as usual), and that was ten months ago. His Twitter also peaked last year and keeps middling about, not really shrinking but certainly not growing. Bob's on his own now, and from what I can see, he's not doing much to increase his brand. He's putting out the same old shit he has for the last decade, and aside from a weirdly-dedicated fanbase, nobody really cares. It's certainly not getting him any closer to his goals of working in the industry instead of being just another internet film critic.

Conservatives get anime, a genre in which there are countless strong women characters with real depth to them. One anime currently airing right now is Golden Kamuy, a Western-inspired treasure hunt across Hokkaido in the early twentieth century. One of its two leads is a young Ainu girl called Asirpa who is a skilled bow hunter, great cook, and has an internal conflict about her peoples plight and how she and her father fit into everything going on. Shes a badass warrior but shes not dominant over her other traveling companions who have their own skills and own stories, shes a part of the story not the focus. She is just as important and well developed as Sugimoto the main character. She is a character that Western leftists and SJWs like Bob should be creaming themselves over but because shes from a Patriarchal country and supposedly sexist genre she is ignored in favor of white western heroines who have no real character, but are a part of big corporate franchises. Characters like Rey or Captain Marvel exist to pander to journalists who are a rung or two higher than being a common blogger and have no real depth to them outside of whatever visual effects artists can simulate them doing. Bob loves these bland characters because they function as a vehicle for over the top CGI special effects that stimulate his smoothbrain regardless of what their character is vs. an actual Asian character who the author consults a Professor to ensure the Ainu clothing, customs, and language are accurate.
