You assume that Bob actually feels most of the rejections as "rejections". Bob is completely deluded, he doesn't see a polite rejection as a rejection, but takes it as the literal "Oh, I'm sorry, you're sweet, but I'm kinda looking to date myself now" excuses they are. To get through his thick skull you need the verbal equivalent of a superheavy mortar. So that's around ~50,000 extra deaths this year. I honestly think it's worse. People are so obsessed with the COVID-19 stats they don't consider how the lockdown and massive unemployment might be causing a massive wave of deaths of despair. They don't report all the elderly people who have died of neglect because "social distancing" made nurses afraid to get near their patients. A LOT of people have died due to that. A lot of people have died due to COVID-19 restrictions.

I have legit OCD and get bothered by things that I feel are "contaminated". I am legit upset thinking about all the children who are getting a weird germophobe complex due to this pandemic. The results of this is something we will be seeing for decades to come and nobody seems to realize this.
