It is only my opinion, but I find moral grandstanding as both grossly selfish and entitled. Selfish in that is comes from one's desire to exert their self-styled moral authority over others to publicly their own egos and not over any genuine for public safety. It is always getting that dopamine fix by any means necessary, even if they must stand on a heap of corpses to proclaim their own piety. It is entitled behavior insofar as they believe that they believe that they are entitled to likes on Twitter/Facebook and praise for their own abhorrent behavior. Fuck, I have fonder memories of going to the locally-owned video chains because they felt like part of the community and thus worthy of emotional investment. Blockbuster was a monolithic corporation that died off because it refused to adapt to changing market conditions.

As many have stated before, Bob only received his infamy because he was in the right place at the right time. The Internet does not owe him one damn red cent for simply for existing and shoveling out the cure for insomnia. He is not that interesting a person and the fact that he posts pictures of his own squalor while sipping craft brews makes him just another pathetic, garden-variety narcissist. Bob does have a unique talent in saying the most outrageous things in the most irritating way possible, and somehow attracting an army of sycophants to defend him. You have to give Bob his due in that regard. Although this is not so much a sign of Bob's talent or skill as much as it is the sign that there is something seriously wrong with (at least one small corner of) the world.

They fundamentally miss the point of science not just the conclusions that have been dumbed down (losing all nuance, methodology, analysis etc in the process) that are fed to them. I haven't yet seen Bob or any of the iflscience brigade discussing methodologies, confidence intervals etc in relation to any of the (incorrect) conclusions they are fed, they just believe what they are told as if it was gospel.
