What I love about these is the "I say that with no judgment to whether it's "good" or not - they won.". yeah, right Robert, you ain't a cheerleading sheep for the big mouse, then why you jump like a bitch whenever someones mentions "Marvel fatigue"?

And I think both are wrong in this case. Razor makes a case about the history of previous movies genres that had their rise and fall, which is fine, but forgets to mention that while Noir and Western were in decline, the other movies genres that took their place were already been stablished and growing popularity for at least 5 or so years, more so with the kids and teens demo, because youth dictates pop culture.

Now that everything is fragmented thanks to digital distribution, it is hard to tell what is going to be the next big thing, so it hard to say where the next big money budgets movies will go either, and just by inertia we might be stuck with capeshit movies for a lot longer because "hey, what else is there?"

At the same time, Robert tends to overhype Marvel capeshit cultural impact to a ridiculous degree. Ant-man wasn't a monster hit, it made 3X less money than age of Ultron and to this day it is one of the lowest earning Marvel Movies, behind even the first Thor movie.

People kept with Marvel because of its ongoing storyline, and credit where is due, only Marvel managed to pull off this "movie Universe" gimmick, where everybody else has failed.

But Marvel as this all great cultural force "OMG, little girls will dress as Kamala kahn during halloween!!!" type of shit? Nah. We don't have the numbers on the netflix series, but Netflix cut the cord in a pretty dramatic way, meaning shit wasn't doing great for them (and that was way before Disney + talks), Inhumans was a megaton bomb and if you keep real quiet and pay attention, you can hear the AGENTS OF SHIELD screaming into the memory hole void.

I don't give a shit either way, because capeshit ain't my problem anymore, but I'll only believe Marvel's and capeshit movies downfall when I see it. What I hope that comes out of it is the utter saturation of capeshit in pop culture period, so much that it will force american comics to be anything but IP farms for fucking Hollywood, and that production and distribution will focus on the medium of comics itself, and realize that once, in a distant past, American comics were so, so much more than super powered retards in costumes.

And to end, I think Robert doesn't care much about capeshit by itself. but he cares that people thinks he is an expert of capeshit, more marvel capeshit.

And in a way, he ain't wrong, he managed to land that gig for the Game Theory fag because he can sperg about Marvel crap, but I've seen my share of posers, and Robert reeks of one. He flaunts his wikipedia knowledge, and acts as if the entire world just loves shit like "SCIENCE MOMMY RACHEL WEISS", as if he can decode the Zeitgeist of out stupid times and the modern Hegel, but I think this constant defence he runs for Marvel shit comes from self-preservation, because without capeshit, what else is there for Robert?

The Escapist booted him twice, no other site has picked him on, he doesn't play or know about videogames, his youtube channel is dead and whatever other topic that he chooses to talk about that ain't capeshit is pretty much ignored.

To be fair, it seems he is picking up a bit more views lately, but no where near what he used to make back in the day, and he still can't quite break the 50K, which means he ain't making shit in ads, and Robert doesn't have the charisma to make a brand on hos own, like Jeremy Jahns has where he can talk about any mainstream movie and still get views.

Not to mention that Robert's patreon is still dripping away, slowly, but the leak is constant. So Robert's dedication for marvel and Disney ain't just about fanboyism, it is his life line, because as soon as the fad is gone, Matpat won't have any use for him.

Marvel got lucky with the MCU simply because they were really the first people to venture out on this cinematic universe concept. They didn't rush things, they got people invested in something before planning ahead, they carefully planned out where things could go and what they would like to do. DC on the other hand rushed things and didn't prepare properly. Legendary took a little too long and had an inconsistent tone. Plus you can only get so much mileage out of only two properties.

The Dark Universe that Universal was putting out was probably the worst one. They were very blatantly copying Marvel, to the point that they were building off of old horror movies but instead creating an action-adventure series. As RedLetterMedia pointed out did nothing to hide just how much they were pandering to the Chinese market in their story formatting. They planned out an entire brand before they even had a product to demonstrate. They even tried rewriting history and pretended that Dracula Untold wasn't the first film in the universe because of how badly it went.

No one is born to take the perspective of other people; all children are born selfish, entitled assholes.

Non-autists don't have the magical superpower to automatically tune to other people's feelings and act accordingly. We have to learn that as well. Granted, as every form of learning, some people pick that up faster than others, but don't mistake quick-learners as "being born with it" . Some people, including most lolcows, fail to learn at all, because their parents and schools don't let them learn.

well given I didn't find out i was an autist until my 30's... that was a long-ass time to take. These were things I did not know and had to be told, but before then, nobody knew that they had to tell me.

The thing is, autists will say a thing to a person that would upset the person, but as the autist wouldn't get upset if someone said the same thing to them, they are mystified why someone would be upset if they're told someone's upset with them but nobody told them why, because to the other person it's obvious. This is the sorta thing we're dealing with.

Bob doesn't know what he doesn't know, which is typical of autists. This is why he doesn't understand why breadtube hates him and Lindsay Ellis won't have shit to do with him.
