And what really chaps my ass is that the MCU isnt even "geek culture" its just normie culture wearing at best geek clothes and at worst geek "blackface"
Bob is what a Reconstruction-era Southerner would call a "carpetbagger." He never held Marvel or the comics medium in high regard until the MCU started churning out billion-dollar blockbusters, and now wants to present himself as some guru that has his fingers on the pulse of pop-culture. (He might want to keep his fingers on his own pulse because I can see him having a heart attack within the next decade.) It would not surprise me if the other kids called him "stupid" or "retarded" throughout his formative years so he has to overcompensate as a 40-year-old sped.

How will Bob cope when all the MCU stuff begins to bomb?
Made me wonder how Bob reviewed "The Rise of Skywalker", objectively the worst Star Wars movie period. I felt so dirty to even consider watching a Bob video on Youtube and given him a view, thankfully The Escapist still hosts his content so I don't think he can get anything positive from it.

Anyway the level of copium on display is off the charts. Bob starts off saying hey Star Wars isn't a perfect franchise (true) but then tries to just talk his way out of how much of a damn mess The Rise of Skywalker truly is. He also wants to claim that JJ Abrams wasn't upset over The Last Jedi (no it was a lack of communication) despite how Rise of Skywalker undoes all the controversial moves that TLJ made. He ends up giving it an 8 out of 10 because "FLASHY CGI" and "NOSTALGIA," hardly the type of deep film criticism Bob has aspired to be.

If Marvel has more duds in store Bob will just do what he did here. Oh it's a Marvel movie I still had fun!

This is why Mary Sues and Gary Stus give fiction (canon and fanon) a bad reputation.

Yes, Mary Sues and Gary Stus are basically cash cow characters, made to make creators rich, not because they want to tell an interesting story. Because wish fulfillment power fantasies are marketable,
Exactly.

The thing about capeshit is that they’re blatant power fantasies for average people and losers like Bob.

In fact, a couple years ago, Marvel created a character who is a good example of what would happen if you gave an irresponsible kid OP super-powers.

1628404903692.jpeg

This is a marvel character by the name of Alpha, he was an ordinary kid until one day he got powers courtesy of Peter Parker. After he got his powers, he became a superhero but only for his own benefits.

Such as his popularity in school,

1628405387502.jpeg

And his own line of smartphones,

1628405436232.png

And in his arrogance, he almost got thousands people killed in the Avengers fight with Terminus.

This kid use his power to fulfill his wildest dreams. He didn’t become a hero to help people or inspire others. He became a hero for fame and fortune, to feel special.

It took Parker taking away his powers temporarily and going back to his regular life to learn responsibility.

Yeah! You let that uppity negro know what's up, Bob.
It's all about them following the message. If Don Lemon showed up to Bob's house, he'd throw him a watermelon and chicken party. It wouldn't matter that he's probably done some skeevy shit.
Am I taking crazy pills but werent Superman, Batman, Spiderman Xmen and Blade all huge hits?
They were, but they were not the center of the entertainment world like he wants. He really wants people to worship superheroes, even though their cinematic nadir is coming.
Wow, who could predict an R-rated sequel to a fucking awful movie that already had an R-rated sequel that failed wouldn't fly.
How will Bob cope when all the MCU stuff begins to bomb?
Speaking of...we're going to get the same reaction he gave to Scott Pilgrim failing. With how much he's invested into capeshit, however, the difference between then and now will be the same as the power differential from Little Boy to Castle Bravo. His rage vid will be one for the ages. Absolutely thermonuclear spergery.

I have some time to waste, here is the full diatribe:

Again, what I love the most is that Robert always, in the end, need to put a caveat like : "ONCE AGAIN: I'm not saying this is a GOOD THING! I'm just saying... this IS" just so he can keep his poisure, and not to be taken as just another sheep. No, you see, the OTHERS are the ones who are taking these Marvel movies as a quasi religious experience, not me.

This is obviously utter horseshit, and as it was said before, Robert exacerbates the importance of these Marvel capeshit to a ridiculous degree, the foreigner audiences are very much aware that these movies are North American, with North American values and principles, and the reason on why they play well anywhere is because of production values and they are easy to consume, as these Capeshit movies are just a modern take to the set-piece centered action movies from the late 80's and 90's, as in, you don't need to pay atention to the story, just go watch things go boom.

Also, since the early days of the big hollywood system, American Movies were always a globalized market because movies take a lot of money and equipment to make them, and while it is true that Europe, South America, Japan, etc, did have their own movie productions, the masses were consuming Hollywood products, and guys like Clark Gable and Bogart were stars in the entire world, so much that in the 50's and 60's fading American stars went to Europe to have second careers.

And about the whole Iron Man Jesus shit is just Robert going "Have you ever heard of Hyperbole champ? :smug:", the thing is, this retard really thinks people have a religious devotion to this capeshit bullshit because he once saw a crowd of idiots going apeshit in a Comic Con when fucking Natalie Portman held a platic hammer prop in a stage, and looks like Robert can't grasp how disposable these movies are.

And I get the feeling that Robert doesn't want to face it, because it would show that he is also very, VERY disposable, because aside from his political sperg, Robert doesn't have much of a personality to speak of.
The only thing I can think of in favor of bob's argument that 'westerns morphed into cop dramas' is the fact that "McCloud" exists, which is a cop show about a cowboy-cop from New Mexico doing the fish-out-of-water routine in New York. It was basically an adaptation of the Clint Eastwood movie, "Coogan's Bluff".

The whole thing about Westerns and comic book heroes and cops is that it's a generation thing. At first, Westerns were kids' entertainment. So, you had cowboys singing tunes and it was all kids stuff. Then those kids grew up and you have what was then called "Adult Westerns," things like Gunsmoke and Clint Eastwood movies. I'm not too familiar with cop movies and dramas to talk about them (I imagine those are guided more by politics and public attitutdes toward policing), but comic books have been catering to an adult audience for a few decades, now. It's just they're only now able to make it big in the movies.

Same way he always copes, denies to the bitter end, then when it cannot be avoided, blames everyone else, but blames Red America in particular.... it won't be genre fatigue causing audience apathy to capeshit in his eye that did in the perfect cinematic universe, but, naturally, Mayoghouls who couldn't stand perfection that they didn't build that somehow made it fail with their green envy rays or something...

At first, I thought he meant to say cop movies succeeded westerns but didn’t quite know the right word. Then I realized he might actually believe one genre can somehow literally evolve into another like a pokemon. He wants to see capeshit as the latest incarnation of the Most Popular Genre, which is an eternal ever-evolving organism, rather than a series of unrelated fads that various studios cashed in on throughout the years.

He's very much a "fair-weather fan". Hell, for all his supposed love of Mario, he abandoned the series during Nintendo's downturn and only came back when the DS and Wii were selling so well. If the MCU loses its momentum and Disney decides to scale it back, it'll just become less of his personality and he'll find something else to latch onto.

You can see a similar thing with the YA craze. Five Twilight movies over five years, meaning young girls who were 11 or 12 when the first one came out grew up with them, and were later looking for something more mature. Along comes Hunger Games, which has another love triangle between teenagers but set in a dystopia that their heroine is fighting against. And later on, they want something even more mature. Here comes 50 Shades of Grey to introduce them to the world of sex right as they're heading to college. It was based on Twilight, but the main characters are adults, just like they are now.

I think the next craze will probably fantasy movies, something to appeal to the kids who watched both Avatar shows. That's the last phenomenon I can think of.

To be fair, most Western heroes were involved in law enforcement.

Going all the way back to his childhood, from what we've seen in Brick By Brick, having the stuff he likes be popular with the general populace is very important to him.

I think he uses that as a substitute for social acceptance.

He couldn't stop gloating when the Wii was out, and it was the most popular thing in gaming for a few years. Then the Wii U era hit, and Bob was hand wringing about how unpopular it was, and declared that this may be the final generation of consoles, because he can see no way forward without Nintendo being top dog.

Continuing the convo about people creating "new gods" out of capeshit, Bobby clarifies he DOES NOT confuse fictional characters with real-life people:
edfe.png

God is dead, and the post-gods killed Him. You don't even have to go cold turkey on your lethal old religion: just pick up the Diet version -- consoomer fandom -- and you're saved!

Your old God is literally a dick. And he dicked the primordial Goddess and her priestesses into oblivion:

MVP suggests that, the capeshit "gods" are more akin to the residents of Mount Olympus: Gods together careless of mankind, yet reflect the foibles and follies of humanity.

Then comes this speculation about the politics of "New Hollywood". Bobby reiterates he "care(s) about others" and "approach(es) the world through consumption intellectual engagement"

Not sure if related to the above; he made this tweet at around the same time frame.

Then comes the Lazyfuck's Manifesto. Bobby still entertains the idea that he might someday impregnate a woman and that she is willing to keep his baby.

If Bobby is allowed to change his mind about the vaccine, he should allow the same prerogative to people currently against the vaccine -- yet somehow Bobby thinks these people are irredeemable and must be disposed of.

This screenshot is going to be as iconic as Bobby's photo with Lindsay "The Abortion" Ellis.

If it is natural, even responsible, to change your mind, why is Bobby so pissed that he has to block people?

The Democrats continue to make covid political:

The idea that we've replaced religion with worshipping Disney branded superheroes is so fucking cringe.

I don't have much use for organized religion myself, but I'd rather have that keep chugging along than this Disney worshipping garbage idea coming true.

Even if praying to Iron Man brought about world peace, the fucking faggotry of it is too costly to bear.

That's not a world I want to live in or be a part of. This shit is on par with Chris-Chan's dimensional merge delusion.

1: fuck me with how much he tweets which is always exhibit A that he has no life.

2: I'm a comic fan and I like the MCU films but they're just fun Superhero movies and Bobert trying to elevate them to the level of religion or greek mythology is amazing level of cringe and stupidity.

I don't believe the genre is dying yet Black Widow in a post pandemic world did well it made 171,527,784 million domestically the most of any film thos year just edging out Fast 9 which shows there is interet and 348,027,784 million worldwide with an extra 60 million on DisneyPlus which the DisneyPlus money was pure profit. It made about the same as First Avenger and Thor (2011) which post Pandemic is respectable the biggest black eye is the mess with ScarJo and Disney. But Disney has had a lot of low performers lately with films like Cruella and Mulan to name two.

Gunn's Suicide Squad is kind of fucked due to the fact it's free on HBOMAX but it's getting good press so that's good for DC I guess.

As for Chris bringing up BOP that film made about 200 million less than Black Widow and that was released 5 weeks before lockdown and only in theaters so yeah that was a flat out flop.
