Bob shows his support for his favorite politician.
I thought that was Dobson.... ah well, they all got SJW same-face.
Please Bob, as a person who has lived in Boston your entire life and I doubt has been in red state any longer than I would guess three, four days, I would like to know more about your expertise with Republicans and also why is the flying fuck you are connecting a completely unrelated topic to video games.
"I'm playing Mario. You run to the right to get to the end of the stage, avoiding enemies and obstacles along the way."
"YOU ARE A REPUBLICAN SAME-THINK ECHOBOX. GO TO THE LEFT AND RUN INTO EVERYTHING YOU SEE AND SHOUT YOU BE BEING PERSECUTED!"
In a way the Mass Effect 3 ending was amongst the first clashes between game journalists and gamers and maybe amongts the first stepping stones on the road of gamergate. As you said the game ending was abysmal for a franchise that many people invested in and gamers had the right to complain about having paid for a game with such a lousy ending in it.
This did not sit well with some journalists and some of them began calling gamers entitled. Please remember this was before journos began throwing entitled at gamers at whimsy.
Bob was amongst the critics who called gamers entitled and when gamers finally got what they wanted (i.e. a better ending) he insulted gamers and called them babies. From that day onwards any opportunity for Bob to insult gamers as dudebros was taken with glee.
Pretty much this. While I didn't care for the ending (or pretty much for the entire game, but that's a rant for another time), the main problem was that you had all of this hope for this game. All the game journo sites were talking about it like it was going to be a second coming. You could not escape the media blitz behind the game. Here it was, this game that was advertised right from the original Mass Effect to grow around your decisions, that made you feel like you in control with the fate of the galaxy. Game scores of 9s and 10s across the map.
Instead you got a game that somehow provided less exploration than the other two games, threw in character no one cared about, relegated most of the characters you grew attached to in Mass Effect 2 into paltry side missions, and all of your achievements essentially became literally numbers on a spreadsheet. Oh, but there's multiplayer. Buy the season pass, motherfucker.
I will admit the fan outcry was beyond spergy, what with people is such denial that they were making
half-hour youtube videos to try and concoct conspiracy theories that maybe the game they got so hyped for wasn't in fact a complete piece of shit. It was an ugly time to be a gamer. But the fact is I still hold EA and Bioware in the wrong because they promised one thing and never delivered on it (some say it got better with the Citadel DLC, but I wouldn't know because I refuse to spend more money on Mass Effect 3).
