Anyone follow this clown? In short:

1) Asshat thinks because he's played a lot of video games, he's therefore the greatest video game designer who ever walked the planet.

2) Made an apparently huge and needlessly complex game that he says is the best thing ever, won't let anyone see it.

3) Asks Nintendo to produce game, Nintendo declines. Butthurt guy is butthurt and goes on hunger strike, sends threatening letters to Nintendo.

4) People tell him to release his game as freeware, shareware, or on iOS or Andriod. He declines to do this for reasons unspecific.

5) Asshat decides he's going to make his own portable console that sells for $10. It'll be totally open and make everyone lots of money. After two years of saying it's ready for production, he "isn't sure he wants to do it" and forgets the project ever existed.

6) His website now consists of a live video feed of him at his computer WORKIN' ON IT!

A kickstarter with a trailer that has an evil Miyamoto and monstrous Reggie Fils-Aime. I'm sure I detected smugness within that trailer. He really should just release this game but then again, he probably doesn't want it on anything save for what he chooses such as his non-existant gaming device.

Never heard of this guy before in my life. He has the passion, but sounds very autistic. After reading his life story in that kickstarter, I have to at least give him props for trying. If he's to be believed he turned down a job and moved out of state for this game. Pitched it to Nintendo and Sony and then the internet. It's more than Chris did for Sonichu.

That being said his game sounds like a huge, huge mess. Things that stuck out to me:

"The infamous cult Action RPG by one person- The last great 16-bit game! A mix of "Zelda," "Pokemon," "Harvest Moon," and "Earthbound."

That's a lot of elements to claim when you don't even have a clear description of what the gameplay is like. Also, claiming that it's a cult game is a bit of a stretch. "Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines" is a cult game. This? Not so much.

"This is the original Nintendo GBA / DS homebrew code, which has been ported to PC using SDL and OpenGL. Because it was originally written for GBA, ported to DS, and then ported to PC (with a complex wrapper system over all the DS graphics code), by now the code is very hacked up and hard to work with."

I don't know anything at all about coding video games, but that sounds very....um...clusterfucky?

It was a Megadrive/Genesis rpg called Soleil in Europe, Crusader of Centy in the US and Shin Sōseiki Ragnacënty in Japan. It was no Link to the Past, but it was actually pretty damn good.

On topic, how on earth has this twat managed to raise $2599 on that kickstarter? That's an average of £23 per backer.

I don't understand why he wants to release it for the DS rather the GBA. I get that he wants to stay current (or somewhat current since the 3DS replaced the DS), but lots of people make custom games for old consoles. Some even create their own packaging for the game to make them feel more "real". His game is really not up to the quality that a DS game should be.

Pretty sure the bedroom coders of the 80's and early 90's on their Spectrums, Amigas, and Atari ST's would disagree with you there Bob.

There's also a game called Banished that was released on PC earlier this year that was made by one person, a guy called Luke Hodorowicz. It's a town building sim type game and worth checking out.

Nothing he has ever done been really "functional" in terms of a game that's fun/complete/competent. Bob is a performance artist who thrives on attention and drama. Just look at him railing against Reggie the first time he tried this. It he was legit mad he's an idiot sperg, and if he wasn't legit mad than he was trying to drum up viral attention that petered out due to his horrible personality and lack of talent.

Bob claims he wrote his own Game Maker, and did the art and music and story for a game that started on GBA, was ported to DS and then put in a wrapper to execute on PC in Java with no education of work experience in either development or game design. But he still wants money for all his hard work in creating indie gaming and he still secretly wants it on a Nintendo handheld because it gives him fuzzy feelings.

You can spend ten years of your life painting a single painting. And it can be the best painting you have EVER painted, and it's your masterpiece. But the MOMA might not want to hang your fingerprinting of my little ponies with dicks fucking a pond full of decapitated baby heads on their walls for 1000 reasons, only 1 of which is that you're an "indie artist".
