Roblox Community General Thread

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
A FUCKING ANOTHER SPONSORSHIP (the same gucci thing from last time).

It's not a brand, but it's some niche pop star that no one cares about.

Roblox hitting seriously hitting new lows man. I mean, they are marketing to kids. The most NICHE marketable audience for these products.
Roblox's stock has barely moved since they launched public in early march. I suspect they're having major profitability problems, even now.

I have like seen people leave ROBLOX due to the games player numbers dropping like flies. This could be more and more people are quitting ROBLOX for greener pastures. I am guessing that ROBLOX may head into these different ages.

ROBLOX gets bought age - ROBLOX stocks go down but it is still a good product, some high end corporation buys ROBLOX and uses it as a bargaining chip.

ROBLOX Twilight age - ROBLOX's community slowly dies off to do people quit developing or thinking ROBLOX isn't that good anymore. Everything kicks the bucket.

ROBLOX gets bashed by Main Stream Media age - News programs find more about ROBLOX pedophiles and other degenerate shit on their page. ROBLOX gets curve stomped by their beloved COPPA for violation of their policies. ROBLOX loses money in the process, support and funding are off.

ROBLOX appeals to a Mature/Niche Audience age - They're doing this because of China, but China is censoring all most of all ROBLOX, but this ending is when ROBLOX suffers depopulation and then using a niche target audience as a last resort.

ROBLOX gets sued to into a oblivion age - ROBLOX gets sued by all around for good and bad reasons. They will lose some money in the process, but it will depends who is suing them.

I think 1 and 2 are likely, but the rest have either happened in some form or have no likelihood of. They've tangled with becoming "mature" but I see absolutely no way for them in their current form to develop some separate section of the site for mature games. They have a hard enough time moderating what is already there. Being bashed by the media has been a common trend, albeit mostly by smaller stations and by small outlets, most of the time of which nothing happens, because it's reporting by the tech illiterate who know absolutely nothing about how online games in general work, not to mention specifically Roblox. And finally Roblox has gotten sued or threatened before but they always back down and change whatever is required. When lego c&d'd they got rid of their circular studs with the roblox logo on them. When chain restaurants got uppity they started pushing back on groups named or based completely off of them like clones of starbucks, and in general they mostly cleared out anything named off of major brands. Even the band DEVO seemingly contacted them at some point to modify a hat and they did it. And when stolen or barely modified copyrighted material became too obvious, they implemented automatic systems to remove or regulate it and dedicated a lot of their moderation power to clearing any that exists on the site. Not that they've gotten rid of it all, but they're basically at the point Youtube is now, with an automatic audio regulation, photo moderation system, and a bit more. I think Roblox is a stable company, albeit one that isn't turning a huge profit. They have experienced huge growth in the past few years and have pretty well expanded their company to handle it. Them adding more features for random users to add content to the game, extending into the most recent UGC idea were good PR moves that helped hold users. Their expansion into China is expected at this point from major vidya companies and although it's shitty extra censorship is pretty much the norm. Won't drive most people away. Them being bought out is probably one of the largest possibilities. Someone may think they know how to actually make the game make major bucks and will buy a huge percentage of it to gain control.

Yeah I agree with your points, It's just I don't mean smaller outlets. I sort of mean bigger outlets like NBC or FOX getting onto this. I was thinking about how ROBLOX may become some form of Facebook-like trouble about with COPPA and all of the other kid-friendly stuff that supports ROBLOX. the 3rd next age of ROBLOX of what I have mention is that that Big new outlets would realize the juicy material and all of weird stuff in ROBLOX, Bash them for maybe a couple of weeks. COPPA would get involve and pull their funding out. Government stuff happens at the end, ROBLOX admins do the willy inly terminations like they do but on a bigger scale, and then ROBLOX self implodes.

I personally cannot see it happen. It's not like Roblox is some alternet website that tows a line the greater media does not like. They allow lgbt groups on their childrens website and promote other social media through direct links to twitter and twitch and sometimes discord. They themselves are barely a social media competitor anymore having nuked comment sections in most areas, the forums as well are gone, leaving only the dev-specific forums which are mostly for professional use and have a screening process before one can enter. We're mostly past the heyday of media as a whole reeing about kids being 'in danger' on online platforms. Vying for censorship in the name of social justice is what they go for now which Roblox already takes care of. The Youtube mess happened because they're more of a social media site and they specifically push for having all demographics, yet they moderate the site for kids despite it not being the target audience, which opens them up to wider criticism. Them being owned by Google and having as large a notoriety as they do only helps. It's also not like Roblox is the only game of it's kind. You can draw similarities to Minecraft, even though their structures are not that similar as a whole, and there are direct competitors to the platform that are generally run worse or have pretty terrible ownership. Though it is not impossible that there could be a media frenzy about the platform, I doubt it would kill it. Parents already barely moderate what their kids do online and Roblox is multinational already, having a huge spanish speaking audience in the least, because it's a free game and can be run on shitty hardware, and the company has pushed to expand to anywhere they can. Even if they got hurt rep wise stateside they would be able to ride off their continual userbase growth outside of the US. They're also not a direct competitor to the media establishment like Youtube was at one point. I'm not entirely sure what would be there to gain from trashing them other than a slight boost in ratings from soccer moms for two seconds.

I guess it can depend if who finds out, it can depend on if the person who realized ROBLOX was a hellhole from a ROBLOX user who has known about these issues and wanted to curse ROBLOX then yeah, if it was some soccer mom I guess people won't really care.

A 25-year-old 'influencer' by the name of Cookiecornpop is being exposed for being a groomer alongside just being an overall asshole. He hasn't even acknowledged the allegations aside from a vague as fuck "Every story has three sides! My side, the other side, and the truth! <3" tweet when he was being called out for being a dick.

Wait, there is? I've got stuff on my old account that could probably buy me a car in that case.
maybe if you have a lot of the super expensive/limited <2010 items and some other oddities all on the same account, lol (retard in me is interested in what you have on a single account that could be worth a lot)
the highest sales i know of personally are around $500 or so for individual items

old roblox items are the best items

Clockwork's Headphones for one. Shit is like 700000 robux which comes out to like $4500? Of robux. I've been looking for a way to offload it for years.

Can you actually get DevEx if you don't have a game that you're making a profit from?

I don't get how, out of all the games, nobody's made a proper roclone that you can run offline and have optional multiplayer with a decent archive of old Roblox games. The closest there is is only on the platform itself with super nostalgia zone, which you can't make content for because it's just an archive, and it's still locked to the site, or one of those super janky connect by LAN roblox studio clones. Someone even copied Roblox's physics in a remake of SFOTH in fucking GMOD. The community is dedicated enough to make it happen. But it seems they misplace their effort and try to make competitors like Finobe that still have to be online. It makes no sense.

well the market isn't necessarily on the devex exchange rate, but you'd definitely get a nice little sum of cash from it, the valk has sold for around $500 recently on one site and clockwork is worth way more.
you made me curious actually, i'm going to go look. though the economy is fickle and different sites will give different prices, and sometimes people just don't give a shit about items even though their RAP is high
update: prolific trading/exploiting site v3rmillion averages 80-150 on offers for clockwork's over the past few years, rip to that car. time to make a kiwi giveaway instead

yep, it's minimum 100k? robux earned or so, and they're also moderated requests
