They didn't ""effectively use a religious interpretation to define life as beginning at birth", they said that SCotUS doesn't have the power to claim that due process is involved in abortion, and that states have to legislate the matter, instead of RvW constantly being challenged because it was a piss poor precedent.

I don't agree with abortion being functionally impossible to get, but I do agree with RBG that RvW was a terrible way to railroad abortion availability.

Of course the other possible reason is that it's a win win scenario, if the law gets repealed they can make their campaign around bringing it back up (and even if not they can constantly use this as a cudgel of why you must vote blue) while enshrining it means that the subject is not useful anymore.

I dunno. Considering enshrining it was completely practically unnecessary for 50 years, I can see why attention was diverted elsewhere.

It's also possible that the only reason it isn't fought harder that the strategic reasons for having abortion have evaporated. For one example that matters strategically, the demographic battle seems already lost. Or won, I suppose, depending on perspective.

ohh that's why I get these comments in some places to say that there should be child support at conception. It's just some more disingenuous arguing and others are latching on to reddit "arguments".

It's also fascinating to observe how much shambles these people's lives are, where the first idea after being impregnated is to get a lawyer. They're pretty much living in a reality where the men they fuck care so little about them, that the only way to get something from them (besides sperm) is to strongarm them with the law.
