You know one thing I like about Star Wars?

None of the characters, not at any point, not in the original trilogy, the prequels, or TFA, ever give or acknowledge two shits about race, gender, or -isms. They don't point out that Lando is black. He owns a whole city. No one cares. Mon Mothma leads the Rebellion. She isn't a "strong independent woman" or breaking new ground, she's just, leading the Rebellion. Rey unlocks repressed expert starfighter and Force skills. Nobody says "b,b,b,but she's a GIRL" except real-people on the Internet.

These people aren't doing these things as a testament to how strong they can be as women or minorities. They are just people doing these things. And if everyone stopped blowing up Tumblr and Twitter about how different and oppressed and privileged and great or shitty this or that group is, ensuring the lines between us stay divided, then maybe one day the real world will also be made up of people. Just doing things.

Anyway, I don't give a damn either about how many women or Asians will be in Rogue One. None of the characters in the movie will. I also like how the main character's name is Jyn, which is one letter away from her being Dark Forces 'Jan.'

@UnclePhil,

Yes, but do you really think the autists following identity politics care? They treat fiction like it's real and think that "representation" in a story needs to happen otherwise it's shit. They don't care about the quality of the work.

No, but it's a nice pipe dream to lay hope on anyway. Despite continued setbacks I still hold onto optimism for the human race.

Star Trek did all this shit in the '60s and nobody made a big deal out of it. The show would just portray Sulu and Uhura as Starfleet Officers, nothing less. I can't believe that during the first pilot Gene Roddenberry made his wife do Nurse Chapel instead of Number One afterwards because women complained that she was TOO strong of a woman. Today these feminazis would storm the studios (or at least try to make the franchise suffer by doing a long winded internet campaign) and be annoying cunts until "they do it right".

Shows DO exist where a diverse cast doesn't equal pandering, the problem here is that everybody is demanding that certain aspects of the characters should be "this race, that gender" and because Hollywood is so afraid that that won't get their hands into wallets it's become the norm to have "politically correct" films.

The Star Wars universe would be perfect to live in, less hyper sensitive crybabies.

Exactly, diversity for the sake of diversity itself doesn't lend itself well to the integrity of the creative medium. Writers should have free reign to tell the story they want to tell without any pathetic air transparent pandering to demographics (who probably won't even see the film anyway) forced upon them because the execs want the film to market better.

Any nigga can tell you that real niggas don't give a fuck about star wars.

its a Disney franchise now, people

you are going to be sold the same ideas, every year, until it stops making money and they buy someone bigger

you will see a revolving door of ethnicities and none of it will influence the complete creative bankruptcy

welcome to hollywood

Star Trek is a way better fandom imo.

"Star Trek paraphernalia has so routinely been found at the homes of the pedophiles they’ve arrested that it has become a gruesome joke in the squad room. (On the wall, there is a Star Trek poster with the detectives’ faces replacing those of the crew members). This does not mean that watching Star Trek makes you a pedophile. It does mean that if you’re a pedophile, odds are you’ve watched a lot of Star Trek."

Well shit I forgot about this. it's still a better fandom though.

I think Star Trek was also first for sending people death threats for making creative decisions they don't like (though that's easy when you're the first fandom in general) but I still like them better than the Star Wars fandom.

Under normal circumstances it doesn't matter if a movie has a female lead. Even in Star Wars the Expanded Universe stories have had a lot of them, the most prominent one that I know of being the daughter of Han Solo, Jaina.

In this case it's pretty obvious the diversity is being pushed for ideological reasons, with white men being curiously absent from the heroine's team. It's a very apparent thing after that writer or whoever it was posting a retarded rant on Twitter about the Empire being white nationalists.

So yeah, having political agendas forced into movies about space battles detracts from the enjoyment.
