Are there any interesting reviews of Varg's RPG out there? That's one where I'm sure objective reviews are hard to come by since most reviews will either be wignats sucking his dick or SJW's REEE'ing and giving the game a zero based purely on who made it.
There's pretty much no objective reviews of MYFAROG except
maybe the one
@Shaka Brah linked to. Varg is a lolcow in his own right, but he's also a great musician as well. Burzum was a major influence on both black metal and dark ambient.
It's worth noting that Varg traditionally has made a point of keeping his music and his political views separate for the most part. So I was kinda curious how an RPG made by him would turn out.
I couldn't find any decent reviews, so I bought a copy off Amazon using a gift card and a burner account. Overall, it's a decent RPG that feels like it'd play like the RPG's from the late 80's and early 90's and it has a vaguely ancient European setting with a weird mix of Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age elements. There's a lot of stuff that is questionable, but it's solely due to the fact that Varg wrote it.
If some other person wrote it, I'd chalk those elements up to being meant as a throwback to Tolkien, Robert E. Howard, or maybe the early D&D stuff from the 70's but filtered through a pagan European lens as opposed to a medieval fantasy or sword & sorcery one but given what we know of Varg's personal beliefs regarding race and religion, I can see why some would jump to conclusions of racism. I honestly don't know if it's genuinely racist or just really unfortunate coincidences, judging by the corebook alone. If it weren't for the fact that Varg makes a point of leaving his political and racial views out of his music, I'd likely have a more concrete conclusion
He also did a post-apocalyptic expansion called "The Coming" set in 21st Century Earth and also introducing guns, electronics, and vehicles but I haven't checked it out. If there's any concrete proof of MYFAROG's intentions, it's probably in that book.
