Have any of you fuckers ever played Hagane on the SNES? Tried it afyer SNESDRUNK hyped it and though I've barely scratched the surface, it seems to have a lot of substance, the move pool is surprisingly wide.

Not a Run 'N Gun but a good game. I found the movement too complex but I can see the appeal. One of those games where you need a really accurate emulator to play or you just get fucked.Have any of you fuckers ever played Hagane on the SNES? They can be, they just usually aren't, they're really common and seldom one of the better parts of the game.1: Disagree. Shmup levels can be fun like Metal Slug 3 when you're in the submarine.
It's on my todo list. I mean I have an actual todo list I posted somewhere on here, and it's on it. I've played it most of the way through though. The difficulty seems overwhelming at first but once you get the hang of the controls and where to use what weapon it's not so bad after all.Have any of you fuckers ever played Hagane on the SNES? Same, kinda goes for Gunman Clive too, and Ghosts 'n' Goblins and Earthworm Jim. That's just my gut talking.I consider Mega Man more of a platformer
Fair, though from what little I saw it's pretty generous with the ammoNot a Run 'N Gun but a good game. I found the movement too complex but I can see the appeal. One of those games where you need a really accurate emulator to play or you just get fucked.
So I gather it's worth giving it a more dedicated go then. Any tips you wanna share? It's on my todo list. I mean I have an actual todo list I posted somewhere on here, and it's on it. Come to think of it, Hagane does have a mediocre shmup level kindaNot a Run 'N Gun but a good game.
I think it's a good Shinobi type of game. About the only thing I really remember is that the grenades are good high dps weapons for bosses... I think... Difficulty spike in the 2nd (?) level with the minecarts or moving platforms or whatever, then it calms down a bit.So I gather it's worth giving it a more dedicated go then. Any tips you wanna share?
The first one is only available on MAME isnt it? Dont think it was ported to any home console.Rolling Thunder 3 is ok but a step down from the first two. RT1 is one of my all time favorites.
The arcade version of Rolling Thunder is in some of Namco's arcade game collections. It's on PS4/Switch in the Arcade Archives series too. There's also an NES port which isn't the worst but it's a pale shadow of the original. The first one is only available on MAME isnt it? Dont think it was ported to any home console.
If you have MAME crime city is a good game. (im sure thats what its called). You get sawn off shotguns and shit. Quite fun if your looking for a quick game of something.
I think i eeny meeny miny moed crime city from my retroarch mame playlist then found i quite enjoyed it.The arcade version of Rolling Thunder is in some of Namco's arcade game collections. Rolling Thunder 2's Genesis port actually adds a whole bunch of stuff like new weapons and enemies and stuff. I'm more familiar with the arcade version but the port might be the better one in that case.
I didn't know about Crime City. It looks a whole lot like Rolling Thunder and Shinobi and probably belongs on my todo list.
In the case of ESWAT and Shadow Dancer the Genesis games are really sequels and not ports of the arcade games. Rolling Thunder 2 on Genesis is like the arcade game + DLC or something like that. I don't know what happened there, but maybe the arcade version was rushed and the content that was originally cut for time made it into the Genesis port.Im kinda clueless about the stuff on switch and playstation, I just emulate on pc lol I will check out rolling thunder 2, I have all genesis games on a retroarch playlist with all their cover art, a lot of the games are shite but I like that early 90s airbrushed painting style to a lot of them, wish they'd bring it back.
The arcade version of eswat is different from the genesis game,(like shadow dancer) both games are kinda shit tbh
Atomic Runner is an interesting one. Fun game but you have to fuck around with the control schemes for a bit until you find something you like.In the case of ESWAT and Shadow Dancer the Genesis games are really sequels and not ports of the arcade games. On that note there is Chelnov, where the Genesis version is a remake of the arcade game. They totally redid the graphics, there are a lot of gameplay tweaks etc but I think the levels are basically the same. It's a cool and unique game, an autoscrolling run and gun where you can't move backwards. Underrated but quite difficult imo.
I agree about the art... scroll through an online store in 2023 and somehow the logos and art make everything look like a Chinese tile matching mobile game or something.

I never played a 2nd loop of OG Contra. I assumed it's just the same game again. Unlike Castlevania 3 that dramatically ramps up the difficulty of already a very fucking difficult game.Contra on the Famicom has better graphics, like animated backgrounds and stuff
I haven't done it in a while but in the 00s I could no-death loop Contra until I got bored, iirc I got through at least three times.
Yeah as far as I recall it's just the same each timeI never played a 2nd loop of OG Contra. I assumed it's just the same game again. Unlike Castlevania 3 that dramatically ramps up the difficulty of already a very fucking difficult game.
I'm pretty sure it does get very slightly harder, maybe just mildly increased bullet speed or somethingYeah as far as I recall it's just the same each time
I'm up to the final level and I'm losing the will to go on. It's not awful, it's just boring and worse than all of the good Contras. 9/10 pixel art, 5/10 stale forgettable game getting rave Steam reviews from people who played it for 2 hours and will never look at it again. Many such cases. Just makes me want new ports of Rebirth, Hardcorps Uprising etc etc.Came back into Blazing Chrome. I like it but some nitpicks: it's a little too easy and the guns lack impact. That's about it. It's a great Run 'N Gun title and it along with Super Cyborg look just like games from the 8 and 16 bit era's respectively.
That sounds possible, but it's definitely not like, super double death mode crazy shitI'm pretty sure it does get very slightly harder, maybe just mildly increased bullet speed or something
citation: dunno I think I read that somewhere or something
