RuneLite's a godsend for OSRS.

There's a new blogpost about the upcoming skilling boss. (AR)
Not too much info on the details, but more about what they want a skilling boss to be as opposed to a normal boss or minigame.

Today's post. (AR)
Mining and Smithing update launches on 12 August
Content roadmap for the rest of the year revealed on 15 August

I skimmed through the patch notes. These caught my eye:
The following actions now have improved targeting behaviour:
  • Dive - Only allows you to target the ground
  • Intercept - Only allows you to target other players
  • Herblore bombs - Only allows you to target NPCs and the ground (and other players if in PvP)
DevNote: This is a short term improvement to mitigate against targeting unintended entities while we investigate a more global solution.
Good QoLs

Bladed Dive's still supreme if they haven't touched the code for it.

Huge. I kind of wish dive was still the default for hatchets and other tools because when I'm doing my elder tree runs for woodcutting I tend to click other surrounding trees and obstacles and this makes it think I'm trying to bladed dive a rock. I guess I could unequip the hatchet and it should still default to my augmented one while in my inventory.

Good news regarding that possibly:

A couple of niche uses for Bladed Dive may have been removed but it's whatever.

I like to right-click before diving to make sure of the dive spot for casual content like woodcutting. Takes a bit to get used to and make it muscle memory, but was definitely worth it before the update.

M&S blog post (archive)

Mining and Smithing have had their level cap raised to 110.
A new primal stone spirit (which works for all Daemonheim ores) has been added to some drop tables. Notably:
  • Raksha, Rasiel, Solak, Nex AoD, Kerapac, BM and Yakamaru, and Edimmu
In some cases it replaces trash drops. Cool.

All armour spikes and variants are tradeable.
Abyssal spikes have a guaranteed proc chance.
Primal armour spikes:

Smithing has a new make-x option.

Primal armour:

Primal 2H:

Love that they've stayed faithful to the original design and colour scheme.

Primal pickaxe:

Masterwork 2H - tier 100 weapon. No special perks. Looks kinda shit.

Family Crest is no longer required to store Silver and Gold in ore boxes and the metal bank. Possibly a nice QoL for F2P if it works there.

Thankfully because of the massiveness and spaghetti-code of RS3, according to Mod Faggot RS3 won't be getting this, although you can already choose the masculine or feminine titles as you wish. RS3 players can be thankful that the one coffee table in their house is not vandalized while their entire house is covered in fag murals and flags:

(also he was working to add a neutral version of every title and that got scrapped too)
In other Mod Faggot news he also was the presumed cause of the OSRS update and stated the opposite:

presumably people thought this because when anyone thinks of useless faggot pronoun tranny shit getting added you come to mind, bro.

Doubleposting to say that they have done a road ahead with some neat stuff. Namely the Desert series finally getting 4-ish quests. One related to the new skilling boss, 2 continuations and then a finale that involves fighting Amascut as a new boss. Some 110 skill updates like the recent mining and smithing update, and they teased a new area coming about halfway into 2025.
The entire team more or less pitched in to discuss or narrate, with special appearance from Fowl:

true and honest woman here guys.

It's got some cringe edits/bits between discussing the actual content but overall it's informative.

In fairness, OSRS is still better since you aren't bombarded with delusional gender nonsense and faggotry beyond the character creation. This is probably the beginning of the end, but could be months before they actually force-feed players the gay agenda.
Edit: damn it all

Was watching the stream and fucking lol at the reactions when the manly-voiced troon came on to talk about Hallowe'en:

The other Jmods aren't much better, honestly:

What a tragic state of the company.

Roadmap:
roadmap.jpg
2024
  • Elidinis themed skilling boss
  • Group ironmeme
  • New conjure
  • New slayer mobs + helm tier
  • New desert quest (probably to set the stage for next year
  • Trannywe'en event
  • FireMake and WoodCut to 110
  • Xmas event
2025
  • RuneCrafting to 110, followed by Crafting
  • Another desert quest
  • Combat achievements/challenges
  • Skilling rebalance
  • RuneFest (March)
  • Easter tranny event
  • Boss - Amascut + third desert quest
  • New area expansion

I should point out the skill level caps are tied to adding more equipment to respective combat styles. Akin to what Primal is for Melee. RuneCrafting will be the 'Warding Skill' of RS3 for Magic.

I reckon they'll raise combat skill caps once they're done making 'Primal' Magic & Ranged equipment.

I didn't even think the rainbow scarf was a pride scarf. It probably wasn't until the other colors were added. this sucks

The presentation was a little cringey, but the roadmap looks pretty good overall. Between the continuation and eventual conclusion of the Desert quests and the continued skilling expansions, it seems there's a lot to keep people occupied over the near future. Looks like my pipe dream of a full PoH rework will remain as such, but honestly I've more or less given up on that, and it likely wouldn't happen anyway since it would compete with dev time for turning every skill into a 110.

The new area teaser is certainly interesting, though. Mods did say that the imagery in the teaser is not meant as a clue as to what the new area is planned to be, though I don't think that's really stopping anyone from speculating anyway. There are definitely a fair amount of options, though. Zeah? The Skull? Acheron? Could even be another world accessed through the World Gate, though it seems more implied to be a new area on the main world map. Zeah might be the easiest to implement since OSRS has already done all the design work for it and it would just need to be ported over with whatever changes needed for RS3, but they'd likely need to break it up in similar fashion to the OSRS release since it'd probably be too big to do all in one go. We'll find out more at Runefest, I guess.

Fourth conjure:

Free 5% damage reduction + a burst. Necromancy keeps winning.

They really made a statue of Elidis fugly and muscular ogre-faced... I mean, what did I expect

  • 1–10 players
  • Divination, Crafting, Mining and Agility
  • Div & RC skilling off-hands | Combat prayer (not curse) | God book

Divination Skilling off-hand: Memory Dowser

Tired of chasing wisps all around the rifts? With the Memory Dowser you won't have to! While wielding this new Divination offhand you will be able to interact with wisps up to seven tiles away.

Additionally, if you are within two steps of an energy rift, you will automatically deposit into the rift and have a chance of gathering double the memories, while also extending the duration of the spring

Runecrafting Skilling off-hand: Runic Attuner

Improve your Runecrafting experience with the Runic Attuner! This offhand will attune itself to a random* Runecrafting altar granting a XP** bonus for using this altar. Upon crafting Runes at that altar, it'll gather energy and then attune to a new one.

As the Attuner gathers energy it'll gain extra effects. At 50 energy, it'll disperse all at once and you'll gain a huge XP boost!
  • Every 5 Energy: More Runes created
  • Every 10 Energy: Can teleport to the attuned altar
  • Every 25 Energy: Gain 1-4 guaranteed Magical Thread
  • Every 50 Energy: Massively boost the XP bonus** granted by the Attuner
*You can only be attuned to altars you have access to, in terms of both level and quest completion. There are thresholds at 20 and 40 energy that increase the chance of being attuned to higher level altars.

** This bonus does not stack with the benefit gained from the Demonic Skull or the Abyss.

Combat Prayer: Eclipsed Soul

577xawwwM.png

Scripture of Elidinis

Time to brush up on your scriptures. With this new God Book you will gain the Conduit of Souls passive effect, which will occasionally spawn a wandering soul while training any non-combat skill.

Dismissing this soul will give you a chunk of XP in the skill you were training! These souls come in a few varieties and to dismiss them you will need to take different actions:
  • Vengeful Soul: This soul will spawn nearby and float towards you. If you can avoid it for a few moments you can then dismiss it.
  • Mimicking Soul: This copycat soul will spawn nearby and copy your movement. Once you have cornered it, you can dismiss it.
  • Unstable Soul: This soul will spawn nearby but quickly teleport around. To dismiss it, you'll have to quickly catch it!
  • Lost Soul: This soul will spawn nearby and wander around, give it some directions to the afterlife to dismiss it.
Different souls will result in different amounts of experience, so be sure to help them all for the most gains.

The boss pet's a copy of the fugly ogre-face statue.

I forgot to mention that the new prayer (Eclipsed Soul) is an overhead (based on the image in the newspost), so depending on how potent it is, it may compete with curses where protect/deflects aren't used frequently, and accuracy negligible. At least Turmoil tier, making it useful for noobs and irons thanks to the far lower reqs.

So I'm curious because I started a f2p bond grind, actually finished it, and then members wasn't too much fun(and I needed to progress way too far for the bond grind to be less shit since my assumed money makers were very inconsistent(dazzling whirligigs were a cointoss if it was mega profit or loss, crafting dust runes was way too active for me since I don't have access to the cooking guild bank), and the one boss I tried(Arch Glacor) was very mediocre and not much fun), what is the deal with the lore in RS3?

I don't remember much of RS's lore but I do remember the vague outline of While Guthix Sleeps which was the last quest I finished pre quitting back then. Sliske wants some artifact, you and the runescape avengers of I don't remember who besides a slayer master show up to try to stop him, Sliske stomps a mudhole dry in all of them, you get the artifact, get powered up to fight a tormented demon, then Sliske teleports away with the artifact.

What happened to Lumbridge and this "Battle of Lumbridge" I keep seeing in dialogs and examine texts? Why is there a demon rift in the swamp just hanging out there? Why is apparently Bandos' corpse just hanging out in the wilderness path from Falador? What are all these God emissaries you can find all around the place? Why were the actual gods hanging around in the place where you fight Arch Glacor and why do they look so lame for gods(they looked like the star trek aliens)? What's this fort on the wilderness border and why did everyone I ask about it have nothing good to say about its related questline?

Lore aside, how does Jagex make money from RS3? When you get members, you gain so many treasure hunter keys it baffles me that someone would willing pay for that. I feel filthy saying this but I liked treasure hunter, the daily challenges and wilderness flash events because they let me zoom through leveling. Smithing, mining and divination are super AFK but god damn are they some of the most boring shit to actively level.

I haven't played in over a year but when I did they constantly ran FOMO Treasure Hunter cosmetic events that you had a >1% chance of getting one piece of and the cosmetics come in sets of 5-12 pieces so you'd need either god luck or drop hundreds to thousands of keys to get it all. There was one of these it felt like every 2 weeks or so. And then the real shame is that the missed cosmetics would appear in either the oddments store or the guy you can trade bonus xp to after a year or two anyway so the FOMO was fake.

They also sell RuneCoins which can be used to just directly buy a decent sized pool of cosmetics and some utility stuff like more bank space for real money as well. And don't forget the just straight up real-world trading that is Bonds. So many people would rather drop like $7 to have 20 mil gold now rather than spend a few hours grinding to get it.
