Culture Rush Limbaugh Has Advanced Lung Cancer - PLOT TWIST: The Leftists did it

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Conservative radio host and Republican kingmaker Rush Limbaugh said he’s been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer.

Addressing listeners on his program Monday, Limbaugh said he will take some days off for further medical tests and to determine treatment.

“I have to tell you something today that I wish I didn’t have to tell you,” announced Limbaugh, 69. The cancer diagnosis was confirmed by two medical institutions in late January after he experienced his only symptom so far, shortness of breath, on his Jan. 12 birthday weekend, he said.

He was reluctant to discuss personal matters and distract from his work, he said, and wasn’t seeking to cover up his illness. He realized it was better to be honest and avoid the speculation that would follow when he has to miss being on air for treatment or as the result of treatment, Limbaugh added.

“But it is what it is. And you know me, I’m the mayor of Realville,” he said. “My intention is to come here every day I can. And to do this program as normally” and competently as usual.

He said he considers his listeners to be to be part of a “family type relationship” with him, adding that his job has given him the “greatest satisfaction and happiness” he’s experienced.

Limbaugh’s announcement comes at a tumultuous political time, as the conclusion of President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial nears.

“It’s shocking to the industry, and it should be shocking to the political establishment,” Michael Harrison, publisher of Talkers magazine, the trade industry publication for talk radio, said of Limbaugh’s disclosure.

He started his first national radio show in 1988 from New York, later relocating to Palm Beach, Florida.

The hyper-partisan broadcaster has dominated talk radio with a raucous, liberal-bashing style that made him one of the most influential voices of American right-wing politics and inspired other conservative broadcasters including Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly.

“Rush you are in our prayers,” Beck tweeted. “We live in a time of modern miracles. Millions are praying you find one.”

Limbaugh said he intends to work as much as possible. He also said he had focused more “intensely” in the past two weeks on what he called his “deeply personal relationship” with God.

The media figure’s endorsement and friendship is a conservative political treasure. His idol, Ronald Reagan, wrote a letter that Limbaugh read on the air in December 1992 and which sealed his reputation among conservatives: “You’ve become the number one voice for conservatism in our country,” Reagan wrote.

Two years later, Limbaugh would be so widely credited as key to Republicans’ takeover of Congress for the first time in 40 years, he was deemed an honorary member of the new class.

Limbaugh has frequently been accused of hate-filled speech, including bigotry and blatant racism through his comments and sketches such as “Barack the Magic Negro,” a song featured on his show that said Obama “makes guilty whites feel good” and that the politician is “black, but not authentically.”

His popularity has survived brickbats and thrived despite personal woes.

In 2003, Limbaugh admitted an addiction to painkillers and entered rehabilitation. Authorities opened an investigation into alleged “doctor shopping,” saying he received up to 2,000 pills from four doctors over a period of six months, but he ultimately reached a deal with prosecutors that dismissed the single charge.

Rush Limbaugh, legend of AM radio, father of the modern day podcast, the voice of God if God were a DJ.

May his recovery be swift as the cries of racist against him. May his soul be as strong as the hate he endures from the "tolerant" Left. May his name stretch out ad infinitum like the fat rolls of modern liberal women.

Carry the torch of liberty to the end, Rush. Vive in aeternum.

I hate the guy, but that really sucks. "Thoughts n prayers" shit is dumb, but, I mean, nothing to really do except thoughts and prayers with his friends and family.

E: I also really appreciate the fact that he was able to not take himself super-seriously at all times (he DID voice himself in an episode of Family Guy, who's creator is about as liberal as it gets) and I wish that more people on both sides were able to do the same

He also complained in a following episode of his own show about how many complaints he got about it and did the mock voice he usually reserves for lefties saying "HOW COULD YOU DO THAT DON'T YOU KNOW THE SHOW IS SO LIBERAL" etc.

I can see the cows on "The View" celebrating as I speak, especially Whoopi. Nasty old battleaxe.

People have been cheering for his death for years. Never been a fan, but I once was given a crime / spy thriller as a gift. It was basically A is for A-Log. You had an expy of Bill Clinton as president, with Hillary as CIA director, and some guy was going around offing his political enemies to help him. There were very obvious expies of Hannity, Rush, Farwell, and others. You could tell the author really supported the criminal mastermind. It was creepy.

Reactions: Your Weird Fetish
Like every American, I was socially conditioned to liberal politics and the "rightness" of it and never thought to examine it. I began listening during Clinton's impeachment and he forced me to question my worldview and to think critically and deeply about politics and why I held the views I did. Those views have changed radically over the years because of him.

He isn't right 99.9% of the time like he says, he's wrong about quite a few things, and because he forced me to start thinking critically so many years ago, I know that, and I hold so much affection for him for it.

I was listening live when he made the announcement and I needed to pull over and take a minute.

Goddamnit.

I hope he goes gently. He's such a grand, magnificent old bastard.

I personally think that he's a moron, but goddamn. Not to powerlevel too much, but as someone who lost a loved one to cancer some time ago, I've seen what it can do to a person before their death, and it's not something I would wish to my worst enemies.

Cancer sucks, no matter who gets it. I wish him and his family luck.

Lefties will celebrate, but it's not like righties wouldnt spike the ball if they found out Warren or someone had cancer. People are just assholes all around p much.
Not all of us, bad karma.
I believe that there is good in most people, even Warren and Bernie. The only ones I wish death on are child molesters and evil men like Gary Ridgeway and the like.

Spent many a time in my dad's car as a kid listening to him, so I do have a sentimental attachment to him. No doubt leftists will celebrate and that just continues to show how classless these people are.

Saaaaame. My mom would listen to him while picking me up from school way back when. I haven't really cared to listen to him into my adulthood ... But his radio show was a small part of my childhood, so I do feel a bit of nostalgia when I hear or see his name. I even remember when he had a late night TV show.

And I'll never be able to listen to this song without thinking about his radio show:

Regardless of anyone's feelings about him, nobody should wish cancer on anybody (especially ones like lung). His prognosis isn't good, but I still wish him the best.

Rush Limbaugh is a genuine hero and a legitimate genius. He carved out a program for right wing politics in the anemic landscape of AM radio and he made a successful business out of it. All other successes in the field copied his hard work. The amount of a-logging and just freaking the fuck out that liberals do over him to this day is remarkable. The fact that Rush can divine what they're thinking, doing, and then sum up why has enraged and baffled them for over three decades. Rush Limbaugh is the person that presidents call so they can win public favor. John Boehner actually called Rush's show to explain himself over one incident or another because Rush Limbaugh was reaming him so fucking bad on air. Do you understand what a huge deal that is?

Rush has an incredible amount of political power and he's used it wisely. That's why the left is terrified of him. They're celebrating because they think the one person who can spit in their eye and get away with it will be gone soon.

And hell maybe he will be. Dude is a hardcore smoker, has abused drugs, he's honestly a bit of a fuck up and he's paying for it now.

But Rush Limbaugh is a genius and a genuinely good person. He promotes the greatness of the United States at every turn.

I'm old enough to be one of the Rush babies that grew up listening to him in my dad's car when he picked me up from school. I've tried calling into his show before to thank him for playing such a huge role in my life. I'll try again this week.

In early 09 Rush was the de facto leader of the GOP, US right (if you weren't paying attention do a 01/09 to 03/09 for "michael steele", that was the competition). He steered the ship with 4 words, I. Hope. He. Fails. 8 years later the GOP went from an extra cheese with nuttin.
To a unified govt.

I couldn't disagree with him more but I really admire him. Kind of like Haley Barbour.

Also I thought these songs were funny (were played ad nauseum on Rush in Fall 09).

He's sounded like shit for a decade, so I'm not surprised.

Never really listened to him as an adult much, but my dad likes him quite a bit. Used to listen to him in the car when my dad would pick me up from school as a kid.

Regardless of whether or not you agree with his views, the guy is a legend, and really helped pioneer talk radio, something that is unfortunately becoming a dying art. Stage IV lung cancer is essentially a death sentence, and I've seen what it does firsthand with family members. I wouldn't wish that shit on anyone. I hope he's able to spend the time he has left in relative comfort and peace.
