Culture Rush Limbaugh Has Advanced Lung Cancer - PLOT TWIST: The Leftists did it

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Conservative radio host and Republican kingmaker Rush Limbaugh said he’s been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer.

Addressing listeners on his program Monday, Limbaugh said he will take some days off for further medical tests and to determine treatment.

“I have to tell you something today that I wish I didn’t have to tell you,” announced Limbaugh, 69. The cancer diagnosis was confirmed by two medical institutions in late January after he experienced his only symptom so far, shortness of breath, on his Jan. 12 birthday weekend, he said.

He was reluctant to discuss personal matters and distract from his work, he said, and wasn’t seeking to cover up his illness. He realized it was better to be honest and avoid the speculation that would follow when he has to miss being on air for treatment or as the result of treatment, Limbaugh added.

“But it is what it is. And you know me, I’m the mayor of Realville,” he said. “My intention is to come here every day I can. And to do this program as normally” and competently as usual.

He said he considers his listeners to be to be part of a “family type relationship” with him, adding that his job has given him the “greatest satisfaction and happiness” he’s experienced.

Limbaugh’s announcement comes at a tumultuous political time, as the conclusion of President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial nears.

“It’s shocking to the industry, and it should be shocking to the political establishment,” Michael Harrison, publisher of Talkers magazine, the trade industry publication for talk radio, said of Limbaugh’s disclosure.

He started his first national radio show in 1988 from New York, later relocating to Palm Beach, Florida.

The hyper-partisan broadcaster has dominated talk radio with a raucous, liberal-bashing style that made him one of the most influential voices of American right-wing politics and inspired other conservative broadcasters including Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly.

“Rush you are in our prayers,” Beck tweeted. “We live in a time of modern miracles. Millions are praying you find one.”

Limbaugh said he intends to work as much as possible. He also said he had focused more “intensely” in the past two weeks on what he called his “deeply personal relationship” with God.

The media figure’s endorsement and friendship is a conservative political treasure. His idol, Ronald Reagan, wrote a letter that Limbaugh read on the air in December 1992 and which sealed his reputation among conservatives: “You’ve become the number one voice for conservatism in our country,” Reagan wrote.

Two years later, Limbaugh would be so widely credited as key to Republicans’ takeover of Congress for the first time in 40 years, he was deemed an honorary member of the new class.

Limbaugh has frequently been accused of hate-filled speech, including bigotry and blatant racism through his comments and sketches such as “Barack the Magic Negro,” a song featured on his show that said Obama “makes guilty whites feel good” and that the politician is “black, but not authentically.”

His popularity has survived brickbats and thrived despite personal woes.

In 2003, Limbaugh admitted an addiction to painkillers and entered rehabilitation. Authorities opened an investigation into alleged “doctor shopping,” saying he received up to 2,000 pills from four doctors over a period of six months, but he ultimately reached a deal with prosecutors that dismissed the single charge.

Personally I don't care much for the man, but fuck, that's a heavy load.

I grew up listening to his show. My dad always had him playing on the radio in his car. He was the on to give me some of my first red pills, Still listen to him if he's on when I go places. Always seemed like a great dude I hope he get's through this alright. And trump was defiantly right to give him the medal of freedom.

Oh look, media maters.

I noticed that the media matters piece referred to a portion of the Rush Limbaugh show (TV) where "Rush compared Chelsea Clinton to a dog."

I remember that show. And the show afterwards (next episode). Turns out, a staffer did that (put up the pic of the dog in reference to chelsea clinton), without Rush's authorization, and was FIRED for it. Rush himself did NOT do that, and he apologized over the incident. I recall that vividly.

Now I can give the article's author a pass if he didn't know, but still, jeebuz, it's not that hard to do the research. But yeah, Media Matters, 'nuff said. They're barely National Enquirer levels of accuracy.

I'm sure A & H would react in the same manner if Jon Stewart or Trevor Noah were in the advanced stages of lung cancer.....
Can't say I would. I don't share Stewart's politics so much anymore, but the guy gave me a ton of laughs over the years, and from all I know he's genuinely a decent guy. I'd be sorry to see him go like that.

Noah is just unfunny, I would just go "oh, that sucks, hope he pulls thru".

Btw, nice b8 m8. 4/10

The difference betwen Jon Stewart and Trevor Noah is that Stewart was, at some point, actually funny. Trevor Noah is just an infuriatingly predictable literally who, and I couldn't give a rat's solid asshole if he ended up getting cancer tomorrow. Less "I hope he gets cancer", more "eh, who gives a shit?".

Trevor Noah is anti-comedy. He is so unfunny that I can't even use his show as cringe material to laugh at. He is a void of blandness. And if people are going to scream "BIGOT!" about Rush Limbaugh, then Trevor Noah needs to suffer those same consequences. He's undeniably an anti-Semite, for starters. He's since toned that rhetoric down, but boy oh boy, he has a history of it and he pretends it never happened.

As for Jon Stewart, he actually does have charisma and comedic timing. His problem is that his ego got big, and I hate how he turned an entire generation of young people into "pseudo intellectuals" because of a Comedy Central program. I deadass hear from people my own age who proudly express that they get their news from late night talk show clips they find on YouTube. Insert gif of someone hitting themselves over the head repeatedly here.

Despite all that, though, I don't think that Stewart is a bad person. What he has done for the 9/11 responders is absolutely wonderful, and I think it's obvious that he's very sincere about this cause. I actually shed a few tears when Stewart was gifted his friend's service jacket after he had passed away. Also, Stewart has done his fair share of defending Trump supporters, by saying that he has friends who voted for Trump and that he wouldn't dare call them bigots. Not to mention he and Bill O'Reilly were friends (at least up until O'Reilly got fired from FoxNews). For all of the bad takes and bias Stewart has shown throughout his career ... I don't think he's a bad dude at all.

I wish cancer on neither person.

Here's the show from Friday, the first day back after his diagnosis. The first 30-45 minutes are probably the most important. Rush explains in detail how his appearence at the SoTU/medal of freedom presentation ended up coming together within the span of a couple of hours on Tuesday morning, mainly because President Trump doesn't take no for an answer.

Sadly, I cannot listen-- video has been privated.

However, when a man is currently dying, you don’t have to use it as a soapbox to preach how he was awful. All that needs to be said is, “He’s said/done some terrible things, but I hope he has his peace.” That’s it.
They're not so much using it to preach how awful Rush is. They're using it to preach how much better they are than Rush.

Rush is wrongthink. I am rightthink!
