It's supposed to be a "side-story" that occurs in-between God knows which part, to stop literally who, to entertain whatever mushmouth dinkleberry even remotely likes RWBY unironically.
A video game set between vol 7 and 8. It was a beat-em-up with a very shitty fighting. There were more problems, but this is enough to show the big issue.
You'd think that Grimm Eclipse would have taught them that lesson already.

I’ve heard it was better before RT picked it up and was just some demo.
It was. The tech demo that someone made that got them hired into a newly created game devs team was solid. Mechanics were a bit shallow, but as an alpha build it worked really good, especially since it was made by one autist.

There's a running theme with just about everything RWBY: it was a lot better when it was smaller and built by autists with a lot of sincere passion.

I remember Grimm Eclipse crashed every single time I reached a certain point, so I dropped playing it.
The only crash I encountered was when the game crashed, but allowed me to minimize the crash window and continue to play the game. I was very impressed that they somehow managed to fuck up crashing the game so spectacularly, though it was in my favor

Is this guy entirely correct?

I think that yes, while the subplot is poorly mishandled, the problem is that it's too one-sided in the favor of the humans, where it doesn't even portray how the Faunus suffer once or twice.

But to say that the things listed in that wall of text is blatantly untrue and wrong and only "racists", to take a look and be concerned about? Really?

There have been massive cases IRL precisely pointing to cases like that happening.

Actually, there was that one shop with "no faunus" sign, and that one caravan that didn't like them in a flashback, and one time rich people from Atlas didn't like them. That's, like, what suffering is, right?
That's the easy no-hanging fruit to criticize. Of course we can keep clowning on that sign, Neon, Blake, and Adam's scar.

I'm talking about those redditors' comments.

Honestly when reading due to the poor way he explained what he was doing, I spent half the time wondering whether he was shitting on racist talking points in the original thread or in the show. If it's the latter, then he's reaching (also he somehow missed that I think every single faunus in the show has been shown to be a criminal of some kind, or have been a criminal in the past. I think the only arguable exception is Blake's parents, because I believe WF wasn't a criminal org back then (and I'm not sure if her mom was a part of it anyway)

The Faunus subplot going awry as the seasons went on is actually a masterful level of plot derailing. Miles & Kerry are like an idiot savant Rian Johnson when working together.

When the show started out, it seemed like you could tell exactly where the Faunus plot would go; the humans did bad things a while ago but they're getting better, in resisting the humans some Faunus have gone too far and lost their way, humans pledge fealty to racial equality, Faunus pledge to police themselves to prevent terrorists and mass murderers from cropping up. It's Jet from ATLA and every pop culture plot about racism rendered down to its bare essentials with just enough nuance to not look like middle-schooler fanfiction. But with the first two seasons being action/adventure/comedy/slice-of-life/coming-of-age/drama/romance/power-scaling-battle-shonen all rolled into one, there was no time to actually portray the Faunus subplot aside from the predetermined character beats between Blake and Weiss.

And then Monty dies and they have to keep writing without his (meager) input for the worldbuilding. So they decide they have to wrap the Faunus subplot up. So they cook up a terrible arc where Blake is actually a Faunus princess and the White Fang turn on other Faunus and get destroyed so the only thing they have left to do is slip in the Adam fight somewhere. And then periodically throw scraps to the Faunus subplot (even when dealing with one of the supposedly worst oppressors of Faunus, the Schnee Dust Company) so that it doesn't look like they forgot they wrote that.

And by the end you have a racism subplot that mostly convicts the minorities of being douchebags (based), never shows the humans/white people doing much of anything wrong (based), never gives a clear justification, clear condemnation, or thought-provoking resolution to a villain that was one of the original trailer characters integral to the main plot, ruins the backstory and motivations of one of the main characters, and made nobody happy.

I personally believe this requires a type of anti-talent reminiscent of Tommy Wiseau. Any rando can follow a paint-by-numbers plot like they had laid out for the Faunus, it takes someone special to accidentally subvert every possible message of the plot without just flipping the table and telling the audience to go fuck themselves.

The funniest thing about the whole Faunus thing is thinking about it. They're not only all terrorists, but they have a fetish for being oppressed too. Remember, after the great war, they all were gifted their own large and fertile island to establish their Faunus paradise. Instead in the years to come, a large amount of Faunus decided not to just emigrate to the greater world that supposedly hates them, but emigrate to THE country known for hating them and putting them in labor camps. And they kept this up, knowingly, until Atlas got destroyed.

You can't tell me that isn't funny. It's THE conservative joke/talking point of "but, if we racist, why they come here" but done literally and without any self awareness.

You have to wonder if 4Chan spent time writing this.
