Butterfly
So it seems this shot led people to think that ROman was being shipped with Ruby, but Butterfly just likes drawing naturally rosy cheeks. And she missed this feature on Roman, but Celtic only says that would have made things worse.
Character Designs with Butterfly and Mupa
-What's going on with these splash pages is that everything that the Sketchy Huntsman pitch for a character goes into one of these sheets that are looked at by Celtic, Mupa, and Butterfly and they take bits and pieces and elements of the designs they like and are interesting before going into the process of making the final design. So each of these studies are filled with character designs.
-Celtic suggested the Kingdom Hearts jacket.
-At the time to finalize the design, Mupa didn't know what to do with Blake, so Butterfly took the lead.
-Butterfly came up with four main pitches.
-Concept art can be found on the Sketchy Huntsmen Twitter.
-The main design inspirations came from the KH coat and old concept art for Blake in the main show.
-During brainstorming of what to o with Kali (Celtic hates wasting characters by having them sit around and do nothing), The conversation came to Blake's personal journey (working to make a better world and moving forward and working to not make mistakes and come to terms with her old ones) and character development and Kali's backstory and her becoming the chief of police, so with all these points, the choice was made to have Blake's new outfit be Kali's old uniform, slightly modified to fit her.
-Mupa had to ask butterfly how to draw a high-collared hood.
-Mupa wanted to add Blake's emblem on the back of the jacket. However, Butterfly didn't understand at first that the emblem was a hole cut into the jacket showing her shirt underneath. Mupa was also worried it wouldn't be approved, but it was and the other SH liked it.
-The cuouts on the back of the knees came from Mupa and Butterfly drawing and misunderstanding each other's sketches, but Celtic came in and liked the cutouts, so they were kept.
-Celtic calls the cutout a nod to the Koa Koana guards in the main show, adding that the cut site is where a lot of knee movement is, relieves anything getting in the way of movement, and allows for sweat. Mupa calls it the "knee armpit".
-This is one of the last time where Mupa woud add notes by hand before typing.
-Mupa has her own part of the study sheet.
-Several different positions came that had Vernal's design from the original design as a base.
-It was around the design phase that Celtic set out saying that Vernal would be Raven's daughter, but the debate later turned into whether she'd by a daughter by blood or by adoption.
-Mupa's sketch in the top right corner where Vernal's hair is made of flowers is where she latched onto the character.
-Mupa's art and comics is what sold Celtic on Shiloh being Vernal's father.
-Shiloh's VA in the main show is the Va of Bakugo.
-Vernal's bear motif and refrences is from the Ainu, who have a custom where if they come across a stray bear cub, they'll raise it for a year before sacrificing it in a special ceremony to send it back to the land of the gods.
-Mupa originally wanted the tribe to have Mongolian horses for mounts, and Bree suggested riding bears and Coffee mentioned the Ainu and their bear custom.
-A difficulty was Vernal's weapon. Celtic suggested a set of sheathes that work like plate armor on a samurai down her leg, where she'd place her hilt in and a blade would come out, but it was rejected for looking busy, but the idea was rolled into her final weapon design.
-Everyone in the Branwen trbe has a mask.
-The design of the mask was Celtic wanting to have pointed ears to look intimidating since rounded ears would look like "an edgy Winnie the Pooh".
-The mask's design is based off a shaved bear whose ears look pointed with the hair shaved off. (There's a spiel about shaved bears that can be easily edited out or put behind a Patreon wall.)
-There was brief consideration for Vernal to use Ren's bow, but nothing really came from it.
-This sheet had the most notes of any design,
-The outfit design came mostly from Coffee's art and Mupa's concepts, including some where she looks like a desperado.
-Mupa enjoyed giving Vernal a unique facial design of thick eyebrows and small eyes. Mupa wanted Vernal to look pretty in an unconvential way. An offbeat sort of pretty.
-Mupa mentions comments online suggesting that some inspiration for Vernal's design came from the Romani. Mupa says that this isn't the case, adding that if there was Romani insiration, the Branwens would have wagons and trailers instead of tents. Mupa thinks the idea of Romani came from the bandana, but that's because Raven has one.
-Butterfly made the design of the bandana.
-The exposed hip came from Mupa thinking that seeing undergaments would be more sexualizing, so she thought it'd be better if she left it bare and let people use their imaginations.
-Every character in FRWBY has anti-upskirt technology.
-In early sketches, Mupa drew Vernal smoking and Celtic wasn't sure if Vernal would smoke. So Mupa added Vernal with a pipe where she smokes weed instead of tobacco. Celtic's not sure which one is worse. (There's also a long tangent about Weiss and Vernal getting into it over Vernal getting stoned that could be put behind a Patreon wall and it goes on for way too fucking long. It's just them screwing around.)
-The eyes on the sheet were all potential designs argued about.
-Malachite is said to be pretty simple.
-The idea was to have Malachite have something akin to her original design, but different enough to stand out, but Celtic had the idea to have it be more crude.
-Celtic's description is that she's running out of the house getting dressed, but since she's switching between two different personalites. she's getting different clothes.
-Malachite's hair is because when Melanie is control, she doesn't know how to control the arm blades, which led to the hair being partially cut on one side, something Mupa suggested.
-Celtic calls Malachite a "great ball of insanity"
-Butterfly hated the bottom of Malachite's dress.
-Mupa says Malachite won't have any lace in her next design.
-Mupa took a bunch of different shield designs and had Celtic and Butterfly pick the one they liked most until they had one left.
-Butterfly says it "looks majestic".
-While designing, the idea came for the lion to have dust crystals in its eyes, meaning Lionheart will be a more effective mage. Celtic mentions how Weiss is a support character like Weiss, but he's not used to fighting solo.
-There was talk about Lionheart's Semblance, but nothing came of it since nothing was going to be done with it.
(There's a lot of browsing around the study sheet to show individual aspects).
-There were too many artists suggestions from Mupa for her to be contained.
-One of the Mupa comics has Salem has Scary Godmother.
-Mupa thinks Salem is fun to draw in classic witch outfits.
-There's a comic with a dog that Celtic is tempted to have as a scene in the future.
-Salem has to character seats to account for all the notes from Mupa.
-According to Mupa, there was a struggle to figure out a theme thanks to all the things she is (witch, queen, monster, once pretended to be a goddess).
-While going around the designs and talking about how there's different types of witches, a superchat comes in asking about the "idiots" (The Anime Guy's words) that think Shiloh and Vernal became Mupa's OCs, Celtic says they're not. To the people who talk about Vernal being changed, Celtic says, "Can you please define for me, using the rules as set forth by Red Letter Media, in his character dissection on Star Wars, define Vernal as a character, and tell me how we violated that in any way without emphasizing things." Mupa adds "without mentioning her appearance or any kind of 'tomboyishness', although she didn't really act like a tomboy very much. Tell me what her personality was. Explain that to me". (They got REALLY angry defensive at this superchat). Butterfly says that calling Vernal Mupa's OC is extremely reductive. As they were all discussing Vernal, everyone got attached to her design and followed the routes afterwards. In the character design chat, there was headcanon after headcanon of what to do with Vernal and scenarios between Vernal and Raven. Even without canonized things, they had a definite feel for Vernal as things went on. As for Shiloh, Mupa says that not much was taken from what was already there. Shiloh still creeps and harasses on Yang, but FRWBY just added another side to him when he doesn't flirt with strange women he meets in gas stations. When Mupa put her foot down on making Shiloh's father and convincing Celtic, lots of jokes was focused on Vernal. Celtic says Mupa's Shiloh comics influenced the writing for the Shiloh and he "roughly canonized" most of them. Of all the scenes, Mupa had the biggest involvement was the "Where's Vernal?" scene, which led into Shiloh standing up to Raven and going off with the tribe and leaving Raven behind, which was all Celtic. Celtic concludes Shiloh is nowhere near Shiloh's OC, and Vernal is the collective consciousness of all the Sketchy Huntsmen, with Celtic even calling her their "daughter". After the decision to leave Raven, Rock (a background character carrying a rock in a lot of Branwen tribe scenes, was voted on to be the new leader, and Shiloh isn't in charge after leaving Raven. (An hour into the stream and I feel like I've been here for much longer than that. I can see this being something you can put on Patreon easily....though the superchat aspect may affect that aspect. That or save superchats to the end like most streamers on YouTube. Or make that a seperate thing. Celtic, if you read this, EDIT YOUR FUCKING STREAMS!)
-The design direction was settled as "witch queen" and "very sorceress like"
-Celtic says he can't wait to use this design in V7, adding that she won't show up too much in V6, and that there are a lot of V6 ideas floating around.
-Mupa likes how unassuming Salem looks in this pose. and you wouldn't see her as evil straight away from this appearance, and she's less threatening than how she looks in the main show.
-Mupa's perspective is that Salem is shaped in aa way that she doesn't care about protecting her internal organs and now she goes out of her to expose her vunerable areas, like she's daring people to kill her.
-At one point, Bree suggested the idea of Salem being completely naked and acting like Gollum, but the idea was shot down pretty damn quickly.
(I'm reminded of Eda from The Owl House)
-Butterfly refined the concept of the spine on Salem's back to make it more elegant.
-Mupa was inspired by a Coco Chanel dress that she saw on the inspiration sheet.
-Butterfly made the crown and the shoulder anchors for her capes. (Go ahead and put the Edna clip in if you want).
-A lot of this came from wanting to make Salem look like her past design from V6, which explains the hair.
-Celtic and Mupa were considering a lot of ideas for what being alive for thousands of years would do to somebody, and things came down to making Salem look skeletal and ghostly, and Butterfly made it where her face is see through partially where you can see her skull through her facial skin.
-According to Celtic, Salem doesn't need to eat anymore.
-Mupa likes drawing Salem's glamour form.
-Mupa likes how the cape shreds in the monstrous form.
-Salem is a lich, she's not anorexic.
-Adding gold to the color pallette was something else Mupa liked, which did a lot for Salem, and gave her a pallette of red, white, black, and yellow. Celtic pushed for the gold since he thought it was cool, and Mupa pointed out how Salem has the colors of Team RWBY.
-Celtic's fa
-Celtic's favorite part is the Chibi Salem with a knife, and Mupa likes drawing Salem as a chibi since she looks slightly like an idiot, and has elevator music in her head.
-Celtic mentions that he needs to have Salem rip someone's heart out, and the chat suggests Salem ripping out her own heart, and doing things like sinking her teeth into it or using blood for lipstick. Celtic mentions her heart disintegrating into Grimm goo and reforming in her body. (I think this could be another Patreon exclusive thing. That's three now.)
Lyubi/@LyubiZ
\
-According to Mupa, Roman can hold his own, but he isn't defined like a pro Huntsman. He doesn't work out, but he's still strong from what he does in his daily life. Lyubi didn't give abs since Lyubi thought it'd make sense for Roman.
-Mupa gave Roman belly hair in the onsen because she likes that.
-Lyubi carried a lot of episode 1.
-Lyubi thought this would be a cool way to show Ozpin talking to Roman, and Celtic likes the effect.
-The green was airbrushing the lineart while locking it.
-Lyubi wanted to give the idea of depression without showing Malachite and showing Junior talking to her without revealing Malachite.
-Mupa mentions making a comic where Junior tried to get Malachite out of bed by mentioning his henchmen making her facorite dish: clam lasagna, as well as a henchman with a Boston accent really proud of the lasagna and upset that she wouldn't eat it.
-The posters was the idea that famous people would come to the club, and the twins would get autographs.
-In the reference sheets, The Malachite Twins are 21.
-The posters are based on the OCs of some of his friends, and his own OC as well.
-The posters have refrences. The purple furry claw is a reference to Logan, The Crows Are All Dead poster is a Transformers cover for a base (or The Transformer, it isn't clear how he says it), The S.D. 2000 was from a random poster Lyubi thought looked cool (and it looks like he has the Bersek brand on his forehead), and the small one on top is more of an album cover that refrences Kamen Rider Shin.
-This was the last shot Lyubi did for the episode. The idea was to show Junior misses one of the twins. Lyubi was worried Celtic would Photoshop and time would ruin the moment.
-The hardest part was the bottles. The second was the dresses, there was a lot of simplification, and he hates lace.
-Lyubi wanted to give the point that Junior wants nothing to do with Roman.
-Lyubi wanted to make the club more damaged, but he wasn't sure how Miltiia died, but Celtic says that the cause of death was left open, and the Fall of Beacon had lingering consequences.
-Celtic thinks it'd be funny if the club would keep getting wrecked and would never be in repair, but he feels the joke would confuse people ("Is this place still busted up from the Yellow trailer?") and that having someone dead would have people ask what the tone is. Celtic says conversation tone can shift radically, but scene setting tone is where you have to be more careful.
-Lyubi isn't proud of this one, mainly the background.
-The background is a refrence to when Yang came to the club with Neptune in V2.
-The most fun with this scene according to Lyubi was the positioning.
-Celtic had to figure out where the half line and how to get the two to transition properly into one.
-The reason why one picture doesn't have posters was because Malachite tore them down. Lyubi thinks it's because she doesn't want to be reminded of her sister.
-The hair also matches the personality switch, as well as the glass and the makeup.
-Lyubi doesn't like the background and he think it looks ugly.
-Celtic feels that Lyubi has improved, and this is a great benchmark for where he started.
-The title is a reference to Charlotte's Web. Lyubi finds this funny. Celtic thinks iCharlotte's is a great name for a strip club.
-Lyubi was surprised he got this scene.
-Celtic likes the design of putting the pull at the center of the spider's eye.
-Yuri Hunter did the wall pattern.
-Lyubi had issues with the astechtic, but he was watching Final Fantasy Abridged, specificallythe Don Corneo's mansion scene, and he felt that was perfect.
-To Celtic, Charlotte's isn't a strip club, it's a gentleman's club.
-Celtic loves Ruby's expression, and how it matches how he wants to convey Ruby as innocent but not naive, so Runy knows where she is and she's npt supposed to be there and it's inappropriate. She's self aware. Celtic mentions others paint Ruby as a sacrreligious smart ass or a little plum fairy that knows and could do no wrong and must be protected from the world. Celtic thinks Ruby's a middle ground where she has bits and pieces of innocence, and that's a positive thing and she wants to keep it that way. Celtic says that's how you grow up.
-The only description of the bouncer was "a huge, muscular man". His name is Wilbur and he's based on Wilbur from Charlotte's Web. (The lines on the belt buckle read "Some Pig") The idea was from Sun.
-The design was based on what matched the color scheme of a Kamen Rider character.
-Lyubi was surprised when most people's reaction was Ruby looking at the stripper's poster (the OC of one of his friends) instead of what really went down: reacting to Roman.
(The bird is Celtic's avatar in his videos, which he commissioned one of the Sketchy Huntsmen for)
-The silouette was made to look like the original design of Little Miss, and Lyubi gave a lot of different reactions.
-Lyubi had fun with the background.
-The gray on the sides is mist. That or a fog machine.
-In the script, the doll on the right was originally meant to be a ballerina, and Coffee added an editor's note asking for the doll to be based on a geisha. The one on the left is a simple porcelain doll.
-Celtic didn't want to go too far into the East Asian influence, he was resistant to it. He wanted Mistral to be its own flavor. Coffee suggested it'd make more sense to be a geisha. There's supposed to be a lot of figurines akin to a collection.
-There's also a scene where the head of the left droops and tilts, and Ruby moves to fix it by putting the head in place, and her Semblance kicks in to go back into place, but I couldn't get the screenshots to work. That and adding more screenshots is something I'm not in the mood for right now. And these shots could be decent timestaps IMO.
-Originally, only the face was being shown.
-There's a simple shading effect here.
-Lyubi mentions he got a similar shot in FRWBY V4.
-One person in the chat mentions he was reminded in V3 where Yang got her arm cut off.
-Lyubi does the effect of the character when reacting to getting stabbed or killed to show shit's about to get real.
-Celtic mentions how gets pissed of that the main RWBY gave Adam and Cinder, two lead antagonists, the main color scheme of black and red as primary colors. (This turns into the days of theories over Adam having a color pallette like Ruby or being related to Raven. That's a fourth Patreon exclusive thing).
-Lyubi has improved in backgrounds, in his own words.
-Lucero's outfit and design was inspired by Kamen Rider Fourze. (Then there's a bunch of talk about the design of Fourze).
-The eyes were originally meant to be orange, but Lyubi switched to green since he felt there was too much orange.
-The scar came from this Grimm fight.
-This sequence was animated by Cetic.
-Coffee did the background. It was the second thing she made in Blender.
-Celtic says everyone hates the Haven hall since there's no refrences for it.
-Coffee was one of the many SH to help with the poses. The kick was originally a Rider Kick from Kamen Rider, but it didn't feel right.
-Lyubi sees this as happening in slow motion despite the line effect to show a fast kick.
-The painting in the backgound is concept art from Floof.
-Coffee did the stairs so it looked well from this angle.
-Celtic calls Yang's expression "perfect"
-Lyubi based the expression on Natsu Dragneel from Fairy Tail.
-Lyubi requested this scene.
-The style of the flame was done to show that there's shadow from the flame.
-The guard witth the pistol is left handed.
-The White Fang grunts are OCs of his friends.
-Lyubi forgot a snapping effect from Adam.
-The poses on the grunts are duplicated and mirrored.
-Adam's shadow is pointed out by Lyubi to be a crewmate from Among Us.
Aden/@BlitzAden
-Aden liked putting Runy and Roman together, pointing out parallels in their pose, color scheme, faces, and posture.
-To Celtic, the constrast is Roman is understated and Ruby is more flamboyant.
-After rendering, Aden realized the cane is too big for its handle, but Celtic says it's not that noticeable.
-There's another shot with this with stress lines on the two and sweat drops on Ruby.
-The red streaks is meant to be a trail.
-To Celtic, canon RWBY goes into dark places, but they trip over themselves, and Mupa describes it as they're scared to be there in the first place. He brings up Hazel beating up Salem in V8, to wear he was bashing her face in, and Celtic was wondering if they'd show skull bits. Additionally, Celtic brings up Yang losing her arm, and the chat brings up Nora's skull showing up when Hazel is holding her down, and Celtic called it cartoony.
-Celtic says that when they have to do something gory like a dismmberment, he mentions they have to be tasteful, but he thinks that this crossed the line, but he thinks the darkness saved it. The chat thinks it's hidden enough, as well as pointing out there's no flies or rot, and the cut is clean where there's no bone or flesh exposed.
-Celtic debated whether or not to take out the shot of Salem that wasn't in the script to save the reveal of Salem, but the presentation was just so good he was convinced to keep it.
-Mupa felt like her thunder was being stolen, but she wasn't bothered since it was so close to the refrence sheet.
-Aden says he still needs to learn how scaling works when it comes to editing.
-Mercury's gray background is representing his status as the middleman.
-The approach to Watts (such as the orange background) was to show how he's the cunning and persuasive type, and to get into his head with mind games.
(These are stills from an animation)
-Celtic likes the backgrounds for Cinder and Watts.
-This was the first time Aden had to draw water, as well as things underwater.
(What's up with Weiss's face? Does she look like Legolas to you?)
(Why does Ruby look like a brunette in this shot?)
-Celtic calls dissheveled Ruby "really nice for some reason".
"Dissheveled" was what Aden was going for for Ruby after Beacon and V4. She has to be the strong one but she's tired, Yang is compressing and Weiss being the heart which isn't expected.
-The green background was a way to contrastand to show how things would get dark at night and to be consistent with what Mupa had done.
-There's detail where Ruby has broad shoulders while Weiss is more petite thanks to their respective weapons. Celtic describes it as Ruby relying on strength while Weiss focuses more on dexterity and finesse. Mupa suggests Ruby having more upper body strength and Weiss having lower body strength. And Blake has a good core because Bellabooty.
In the 3D group, JayJay and Coffee did models, JayJay was the frame guy mainly using VRoid and refining in Blender, as did Coffee in terms of refining. Aden animated (or was one of them), and Lyubi did a lot of modeling for objects.
The three departments help each other out.
JayJayBase on YouTube
-JayJay hated the airship fight in V5. He feels the fight was in what amounts to a UPS van and calls the airship one of the blandest and uninspired designs for an airship in media.
-JayJay served in the Australian Air Force and he worked with military cargo planes, which this airship is meant to be, which thed the airship in the main show to be something he'd come to despise.
-A series he does on YouTube shows where the set design in RWBY and how RT doesn't want characters to interact with the sets, and it's why the sets are so big.
-JayJay feels that this design fits more thematically.
(Anyone else reminded of the ending of Zero Dark Thirty?)
-This was one of the first things made.
-JayJay thinks you can tell a story with a set: Weiss is alone, so she's far away from the camera, in bland lighting, and the lighting is bland since Weiss is pretty sad right now.
-This is one of Celtic's favorites from this set.
-JayJay says the set only works in this direction, and the idea that Weiss has to navigate and interact with the set to reach the pilot.
-JayJay feels the original ship was made by people who don't know what any form of vehicle looks like due to using the kitchen sink approach to making a cockpit and there's so many buttons that some buttons can only be used by standing up and leaning over. Some mentiond include slider dials, sound mixing equipment, seats are side by side with no backrest, meaning acceleration would result in a broken neck.
-The keyboard is a refrence to the mixing equipment. And expanded lore was that the pilot's boyfriend is killed and he has to get a real job, but one day he's going to make it big.
-Coffe mentions that she likes how JayJay does emotional storytelling with his sets.
(There's talk of Ruby's room in Patch. Another should be Patreon exclusive thing. Fuck, man.)
-JayJay fought for this scene, with the big thing that changed the script was the Lancers. Celtic had planned for multiple regular sized Lancers and then a Nevermore, but JayJay convinced Celtic to make the Lancers a swarm, and Celtic likes this a lot more.
(More talk of Ruby's room after recieving a superchat. Please kill me. In Call of Duty: World at War)
-This was what convinced Celtic to give this scene to JayJay.
-This is a once in a lifetime situation for Weiss to make this happen, and was written into the script.
-It's dangerous for Weiss's scene to do this, and it should be broken afterwards.
-The turkey scene was in response to a question of why didn't Weiss run away with her sword.
-Celtic says this shows how powerful Weiss can be with the ammo.
-This scene is a refrence to the concept art for this scene in the main show.
-The Nevermore design is based on an eagle.
-The head is from an eagle and shrunk.
-Coffee helped with Weiss's hair.
-Jayay uses Unity. He calls himself a "jank modeler" .
-The chair on the left under Weiss's hair is an MMD.
-The chair maker also gave models for Yang's bike and Neo's umbrella.
-Coffee helped with the posing, mainly to keep things from looking silly.
-In regards to the physics not working, JayJay said "shut up. Rule of Cool".
-The water is a picture of the closest ocean near JayHay.
-According to JayJay, Weiss is about to pass out here.
-There was discussion on the Schnee Dust crate, and JayJay says "all that, and you still get smacked in the face by your family lineage".
-This was made to establish the bandit camp.
-You don't get far enough to reach that third picture.
-The boxes on the right don't touch the ground.
-Celtic loves "the jank stuff"
(Rock is a bandit carrying a rock in the background and she shows up in a lot of these shots. I think it's an A113 thing. Another tangent.)
-The characters are posed in Doll Play.
-The clipping was thanks to Photoshop.
-Gradients tied everything.
-JayJay likes Weiss's expression here.
-Transparency is broken.
-This is a free Unity set.
-The silouttes are from Shutterstock.
-The background is a mix of Floof and official RWBY concept art.
-JayJay like's Ruby's expression reacting to what Roman is saying.
-This set is from the intro and was reused a lot.
-This is the only angle where this shot works.
-JayJay says this is when things started to hit his stride and ability to pose.
-This shot led to the sponsor joke. JayJay and the SH said it looked like a background, and Coffee mentioned it look like a sponsor ad.
-Coffee brought up the method of cup repair (the Japanese name for it is used).
-Here is where JayJay's posing got better.
-Weiss's sword is in the wrong hand. But the composition was already done.
-It was really hard to make it look like Vernal wasn't farting.
-Mupa did the background and Coffee did editing.
-Celtic says that this seems like something you'd see in a game engine
-Neo is called "such a beautiful meme".
-This was a "Frankenfix" due to breaking the 180 rule.
-JayJay says "you gotta be janky to fix things".
-Mupa loves Neo's legs. And Coffee calls it "very anime" and tries to find the word of it.
-JayJay calls this a bit "too dramatic", but he enjoys this given he was pressed for time.
-The scene procceeds to have Vernal put on her mask while walking away, and the script says this was done to hide her tears. 00
-JayJay hates this scene, but Celtic loves it. Celtic says the rabbit reminds him of early Red vs Blue.
-Floof helped a lot, and JayJay is really proud of this scene.
-Floof fixed this shot to have better lighting.
-Floof did glow and explosion effects.
-JayJay had to move the scene to get the shot he wanted.
-This is JayJay's favorite shot of his from the whole season.
-Spider-Man served as an inspiration, and JayJay had just watched Into the Spider-Verse.
-There exists an edit with music from Batman: Mask of The Phantasm.
-Floof helped with the lights and the ribbons.
-This was one of the few times we can see Vernal's weapon ability: 3D print blades and flicks them.
-This shot is gravity dust, so the blade will hit like a freight train and impact would break a hole in a concrete wall.
-Mupa compares the blades to box cutters.
-This was a sceneJayJay insisted on doing.
-The game pieces were meant to be lights in the onsen scene shrunk down. Models mae by Floof.
-Ren is called "a disaster" and the model is terrible.
-This landing was animated, but it didn't look good so the still came from that.
-Yuri added the bullet holes.
-To JayJay, the longer you look at the grunts, the worst they get. He was in Alaska while making this.
-Coffee did color balancing.
-There was originally going to be lines of "Didn't you die?" "Die? Reports of my death were greatly exxagerrated."
-The background is the Spencer mansion turned green.
-Celtic says Sun looks like a PS3 character. Coffee brings up "upgrade from PS1 to PS2". JayJay calls it "blocky"
-The Sun model was made in 30 minutes.
-Coffee hand-painted the tails.
-JayJay wanted to do more, but he was in self-imposed crunch and needed to get things out.
-The models were the first things JayJay did in 3D.
-Roman's pose is from "A Clockwork Orange".
The Intro
-One issue was Ruby's silouette being lost among the pillars, but the pillars needed to be there partly because Weiss would be lost and just blend into the sky without them.
-JayJay loves the music by Mollie Rhymemaster, the old composer.
-There was a plan to have a day to sit with Mupa and fix the colors. but instead colors were slightly tweaked to get desired lighting.
-The renders are intentionally low resolutions to get the camera and poses right.
-There was worry about Team RWBY not having enough prevelance, which explained the lineup, so the scene was done to have it be from reverse starting with the shot of Ruby's eye, while an earlier cut had the camera pass Ruby.
-More elements were added as time went on.
-The crow was a random crow added since they forgot to add Qrow and there was no model.
-Celtic did the spinning petal. It was done by rotating the 2D object in Premiere.
-Coffee's storyboards came after JayJay's first animatic.
-This pitch would have the petals following various characters in Mistral, but thet would require making a new set.
-Ruby is supposed to look distressed.
-This wasn't the Raven model that was used.
-This was done in a 3D painting program.
-The tree is from the 3D painting program, and lasted a long time before being replaced.
-Celtic made this font for FRWBY.
-Celtic finds his font is better than another RWBY font he found since his features the distinction between uppercase and lowercase (the uppercase is done by adding spikes to the ends of the letters.
Aden
Aden does a paintout to get colors and shapes, then refines to a texture.
-This is a model from Lyubi.
-Aden had to learn how to do the model rig.
-These turnarounds wanted to be done, but Celtic had finished the script and doing assignments before more could be done.
-This is a sneak peek of Ren 2.0, but he was low on the priority list.
-An attempt to match Mupa's character sheet.
-The black gradient was anti-upskirt.
