Guess I was right to archive.

I mean, isn't V9, considered by some to be ANOTHER make or break volume, being delayed because of a crossover that could put more crunch and strain on the animators in an endeavor that's a way to avoid the Sword of Damocles from coming down not a thing that one should be worried about?
Reception around the last volume was largely negative from what I gathered, though reasons for anger seem to vary quite a lot. It definitely feels like excitement for the show has waned considerably in the time between volumes, the game doesn't seem to be catching much attention, and I can't think of a single person who was genuinely excited about the fucking Justice League crossover.

I dunno if V9 will sink them, since I feel like the show will be wrapping up around 10 and they might be able to ride it out for the sake of finishing the show, but stranger things have happened.

I think it's more that the goodwill has dried up considerably more than usual. Part of it is a case of deja vu after learning about what happened with volume 5 with the reccent allegations of crunch, the fact that RT has managed to screw practically everything they've done up recently (including airing the 4th episode of IQ with no english subtitles on their site) and whatever hype they had has since evaporated by taking way too damn long. And all the crossover did is bring the concerns up to the surface, especially with IQ's popularity.

And you mention the game, arrowfell and I genuinely forgot it was a thing until then. RWBY is such a shitshow that a game by a respected developer managed to be completely overshadowed. Then again, it looks awful (I'm getting real champions of vestroia, Wayforward's last licensed game, vibes from it), they couldn't even communicate information on it correctly leading to confusion on whether or not it's multiplayer and that it's coming just after yet another port of grimm eclipse. If it were anyone else, I'd swear they were trying to kill it before it even releases.

I saw a little gameplay in a video someone recorded at RTX and the person playing beat the first boss by literally standing in place and spamming neutral attack lmao.
Somehow not shocked. I played the original concept gameplay for RWBY and it was good (but needed some polish), but when the actual game came out it looked fucking boring. Whoever they hired to help the concept guy clearly have no sense of game design.

Grimm Eclipse, from what I understand, had a pretty good beta with some actual combat depth then RT scooped it up and completely fucked up the design and sold it for fat stacks. I bought it with the wife on a lark expecting a cheap and janky game but it feels completely unfinished. There's like two buttons to do everything and it plays like one of those unfinished Steam prototypes you'd find back when Greenlight was a thing.

I don't know who the fuck wanted a RWBY metroidvania of all things anyway. A sidescrolling beat 'em up is pretty much what everyone wants, and I would assume, easier to make on a dimestore budget, which Wayforward has experience with anyway so it feels like they'd be able to just use the bones of something like River City Girls to slap a decent little action game together.

What I played was solid and showed passion despite how shallow and limited it was. Ruby would slash, jump and shoot the werewolf grimm. Just like the early seasons, it felt like if the team kept the passion up, and kept working on it they could eventually get a great product out of it.

But I guess this was a too many cooks in the kitchen situation.

I played Grimm Eclipse pre RT getting their hands on it and I thought it was okay, it was a cute fan project and if the gameplay got a bit more complex I thought it'd be great. Then RT buys it and as a complete retard I get a copy. The game ran slightly worse, looked worse somehow and was just as shallow as the first time around.

If anyone wants to do so, there's OpenBOR. It'll be better than whatever RT shits out because they have the reverse Midas Touch.

[Archive] because I have a feeling this will get walked back some time soon.
I asked Kara all the way back at Anime North mid-July, and she said that the animation team is working at home using screenshare technology, because the scenes and animation work are running on the computer farms like magic, because there's no one there in the animation offices.

Sorry for the very late response, but I played Grimm Eclipse with my ex-boyfriend three years ago and it actually wasn't all that bad of a game.

From what I can remember...
PROS - Fun moves, unique monsters, nice music, spammable voice lines and shit, cool costumes
CONS - Repetitive af (gets boring after playing once), lame ass story, co-op and multiplayer suck balls

I'm going to re-download the game and give it a shot. Maybe it's changed... or maybe it's way worse than I remember. Wish me luck fellas.
