Anime is ridiculously cheap in comparison. Getting a job at an anime studio is pretty much like volunteering to work in a sweatshop because you love anime. Season 1 of One Punch Man, which is one of the better animated shows out there, was around $80,000 an episode on the low end of estimates, or $3333 a minute, basically a tenth the price. Even on the high end of estimates that I found, around $150k, you're still looking at significantly less than $10,000/min on a vastly superior product. A season of anime tends to cost less than a single episode of an American cartoon
I can't understand what it is about RWBY that makes it so exorbitant.

I wasn't kidding when I said too many cooks in the kitchen. Their animation staff has at times been very large, with an enormous chunk of them being unpaid interns. When you have that many people all working on one project, it becomes difficult to maintain a consistent vision, so you end up paying extra to redo shit. I can also guarantee that the staff also waste a considerable amount of time fucking around, as Roosterteeth embides that behavior with their lax policy and nature. At least until crunch time kicks in.

30k/min to look like dogshit? Is that standard rate for an anime?
$30,000/minute puts in the company of actually animated movies - like Disney and Pixar.

Obviously not the really good movies or really great scenes, but $30k/minute puts RWBY out of "an anime" and into a league of it's own.

The fact Warner Brothers, their parent company isn’t bankrolling them is very telling. And I mean if They truly wanted to save this show and attract investors maybe they could make some concessions? Like having another studio animate it cheaper?

They already fired all the animators so it’s not like they are saving jobs.

All this is telling me is that they are really worried is doing fuck all in Texas with high salaries they don’t deserve. When Monty was around, at least, there was some eye candy. Now it’s just a boring and Ugly woke slob.

All I am saying is that if any potential partner doesn’t force them to work like adults they might as well burn the money.

And considering Coyote vs Acme, do you really trust WB to make a smart decision?

I am well aware WB leadership is full of idiots. Always has been. They wasted their Big name DC characters, and the potential to earn billions against the MCU for one. But Rooster Teeth is so much worse that they make WB look like business geniuses by comparison.

Yeah. Look at like 1-3 vol combat scenes. The characters just snap into motion. That effect is gone like I think post 4 or something
It's why that makes the animation awkward. The first three volumes, with Monty's unique technique, made them move in a certain way that appeared to be fluid. Now, it's just awkward to look at.

“RWBY Volume 9 Beyond” storybook looking at key moments in Vol 9 “and even beyond”.
Translation:

When is turns out we have no "Elon Musk" in the (quickly diminishing) Rooster Teeth fanbase, we'll shit out a book to wring the last few pennies out of this series. This is actually probably the best outcome for the fans since any new series we put out at this point will somehow be worse since our budget will be even more barebones than it already is. When the ending is as shit or worse than genlock, Monty's gold-digging hole of a widow will cry about how it wasn't his "original vision", but will provide no examples of this supposedly genius vision. A large portion of the fanbase will believe her since they refuse to admit the fact Monty Oum was a decent fanfic writer on his best day. FFS our entire company was built writing a really shitty fanfic in a video game. It's really not a hard concept for these weeb faggots to grasp.

Somehow I don't think Batman was exactly what Monty had in mind when he was designing cute girls fighting monsters.

Anyway, Ruby and Yang's VA's are streaming now (in Vtuber models)

Over an hour in, and only half a thousand of watchers. For context they have 14 thousands Twitch followers and 145 thousand Twitter followers, where they also shilled this stream

Been sitting on a tidbit of industry gossip, for years. I’ve got no proof, so, it’s a trust me, bro, situation. This has kept me from saying anything about it, plus, I don’t really give a shit about shipping. The story goes that originally, if Monty was going to make any of the team members of team rwby into a couple, it was going to be Weiss & Ruby. Look at the first few seasons, especially the manga versions where the WhiteRose ship is teased often. Monty used to make a lot of ship art of them together, some of which ended up on his social media stuff. There were some pretty big plans, but, he didn’t really want to focus on shipping too much so it wasn’t a high priority. It was in response to the fact that when only the Red & the White trailers were out, people were already shipping Ruby & Weiss together, he liked the idea, & started hinting at it in official work. Anyone can go see for themselves.

After his death, we got the bumblebee whatever ship. Yang, from the start, was pretty boy crazy. Blake was originally going to be with that monkey guy. It’s believed that due to pressure from Blake & Yangs voice actors, that the bumblebee ship sailed. It was finally done as a publicity stunt in the last few seasons, culminating in the v9 kiss, to try & generate more interest in the clearly dying show.

No one really cares now anyway, but, figured I’d share this gossip. Can’t say much else about it other than that this came from someone close to Monty. Take it or leave it, that’s all. I bought it when I was told, everything seemed to check out. Don’t expect anyone to take this seriously, there is no proof, it’s absolutely one hundred percent hearsay, as the only one who could confirm is dead, and I don’t have any proof in writing. Maybe some proof will get released down the line, if the originators of this story have any. Who knows? Still, it’s always made me cringe regarding the Yang & Blake relationship, to have this gossip, (true or not,) in the back of my mind. It’s a known thing in the industry for many actors to try & “land a lesbian role.” It gives those actors a built in LGBTLMNOP fan base that helps their star power rise. The more I think about it, the more it fits those two voice actors.

I think bro's referring to the RWBY DC crossover. Yes, I'm serious.
In a world where people get super powers like "make everyone unlucky", "can create seemless illusions" or "becomes stronger when angry", how unlucky do you need to be to get "is autistic and can solve puzzles"?

It makes total sense given Monty's art of them together and the fact that their personalities are one of the all time classics in the "Opposites Attract" school of romantic chemistry, particularly when it comes to yuri.

I don't know if this is a rumor so much as a substantiated fact. It's well documented that Barb and the other chick (I don't remember her name and I'm too lazy to look it up) were really gung ho about Yang and Blake being in lesbians with each other and RT has (or at least they were in the past pre 2016) fairly open to entertaining fan theories for shows and including things from the community into their works, Bumblebee was a popular ship in the fandom and the VAs wanted it, so why not do it?

Could be worse, you could be the guy who gets the "always smells like rancid onions" semblance.

Anyone have this art? Also, I’ve always felt White Rose was more set up as a comedy duo, and never evolved past that.

Arryn Zech, Blake’s VA.

There is technically one flaw in this in that by Volume 2, Monty had confirmed that while he wanted some gay characters he hadn't made any yet (49:49-50:25 describing that while he and the crew were not opposed to gay characters, they haven't decided that yet, and if it happens it happens) (he fell into a coma 5 months after the interview, and died month after, so I don't think much changed since the interview). It does confirm the "he didn’t really want to focus on shipping too much" part, but it's up to interpretation whether or not this debunks your rumor.
