RIP RWBY. Could had been something only if you had actual writers who weren't fish out of water hacks, and if Monty assed himself to study writing and delayed the worst case scenario.

Their weird metroidvania nobody wanted flopped with like 2K sales at most, the merchandise had been nothing but badly cropped still images of the show overlaid onto shirts for months, and the promotions dried up around the time of V7 or 8 when they started begging Epic to put them into Fortnite and it never materialized.

She literally gave enough info to suggest that RWBY was so expensive that if you put it on the list of "most expensive animes ever made" that RWBY would be #1 and would have cost more than #2-6 combined.
 
Lets say someone buys it: would you rather concluding the series or full Reboot? I would say that the initial characters have potential but that was destroyed years ago

You reboot it. Or you use Ice Queendom as the starting point and ignore everything that happened after VOL 3.

Few points,

Technically they have good merch, it's just overshadowed by mountains of bad ones. Regarding promotions, that's not true either. Chrunchyroll for their part shelled RWBY a lot via their vtuber mascot, and even did some RWBY collabs.

Why wouldn't you Reboot it? You can make use of the good while not being tied down with the bad

I'm honestly kind of disappointed by this news. Now we'll almost certainly never know the true intended ending to the show. I was really looking forward to seeing how much more retarded the plot and the characters could get.

You have to reboot it - the later volumes were a huge mess and you may as well lock down a new voice cast (because no point in trying to overpay for the old crew and various talentless youtubers).

RWBY has been going on for 9 seasons and I couldn't explain to you what the point of it was going to be - and I'm one of ~15 people who cares enough in 2024 about it to post about it on message boards.

Basically V1 up to the teams being formed and the conflict over Ruby being called a team leader over Weiss, that’s the start. Then it’s an original thing where a Grimm takes control of people’s minds and Team RWBY and Team JNPR basically find themselves in a dream world in Weiss’s psyche where she’s basically a tyrant and what she’d be at the start of the series if she didn’t have any character development.

They tried to make Rwby into a big giant deal without having the writing or producing talents to do so.

Why would you build on this wreckage? Just scrap everything about this setting and put half the characters in a different one entirely while tossing the other half out.
