Even at the beginning it was bad, though. Inconsistent production value already at a bad baseline, new ideas inserted on the fly, and this eerie feeling that the creators were relying on fans to make justifications and do the intellecual rigour for them so they could steal them all without being credited and claim they were just "confirming" fan speculation.

And I'd say that eventually got proven right if that infamous "50/50" Reddit comment is to be taken as proof.
What 50/50 comment on Reddit?

We're always trying to take to heart what is confusing or not for the audience -- when it seems 50/50 or if there's enough arguments to counterbalance, that's generally something we can live with when we've got limited screen time and prioritize character/drama over exposition

One of the writers saying he's fine with giving unclear information if the fans can invent their own justifications for them.

Alright, boys. Real talk. How much would they sell RWBY for? Second question, how much money LOLcow LLC raise to purchase the IP? Surely, it's about time Null opens up an animation department for his rising conglomerate.

What if Madhouse bought the rights to RWBY and decided to reboot?

Time to make Homophobic Ruby canon!

I unironically sent their company an email offering 2 grand for the IP. They did not reply. I really don’t think it’s worth much more considering how it has been constantly subject of controversy since 2018-ish

Apparently too much because no one's bought it ever since WB tried to sell it before RT died.
They tried to sell RT as a whole, which is an overall loss with all the baggage that comes with severance packages and paying extra for all the worthless IP's under RT.

Selling RWBY on its own MIGHT have some value that MIGHT be worth it for some other media entity, but who the fuck knows.

And the sexual harassers, discriminators, etc, who have been protected by the top brass. That sort of reputation stays.

Absolute legend. I'm sure if you persist they'll likely to breakdown. I imagine they're hoping for a really golden offer to at least break even, but at best they're offering a few salvageable character designs and a workable fantasy world. If you really go through with it, I'd be interested in hearing your plans.

My ending line was pretty much (paraphrasing (original sounded a lot more formal)) “it’s not much, but after a lengthy and expensive search for acquisitions, any offer to recoup at least some losses will start to sound good”. I don’t intend to persist, but if they followup on the offer, I’ll take it. I assume their acquisition team isn’t working for free. At some point, to me, it seems better to cut losses. Figured might as well try.

Imagine having your KF account doxxed because you bought a failing anime just to spite the creators.

If they actually sell me the IP, I will post evidence which probably will result in my dox. It’d be too funny not to. Actually, holy shit, imagine the reaction from Reddit that an evil Nazi Moderator is in charge of RWBY?

We joke that RWBY is worthless but that's only by corporate standards. I am guessing they will be asking for a few million at least.. Still It would be a little shocking and hilarious if a you got it @Useful_Mistake

At the very least I think you would do a better job than Miles and the others ever did.

That's what I'm saying. The financial side is merely secondary. The reaction would be priceless. At absolute worst, you get a fun project to start up in Arts and Literature. If a Kiwi x RWBY collab isn't your definition of a good time, I couldn't reckon what is.

If you do somehow ended up getting the IP, I'm gonna learn to draw and hopefully match the style of the original volume posters and make a Ruby vs Sonichu poster or even better Team RWBY vs The Ralphamale

Not a whole lot.

There isn't a value in it and if Warner Brothers couldn't make it profitable - there's very few people who could and none of those people would even bother. The main driving force of RWBY (Monty) fucking died - the animation is comically antiquated and none of the Voice Artists are professionals that you could even possibly consider retaining for any future projects. What RT/WB did do was tank the value of the show by shoveling out tons of shitty merch too (manga, tie ins, low quality shirts/hats, terrible games, etc) so you've poisoned the soil that a new IP owner would try and grow.

They'll want more for it than anyone reasonable is willing to pay - but maybe they'll get lucky like SomethingAwful did and one of their deranged fans will have ~$400,000 sitting around burning a hole in his pocket.

You make some good points that RT burned everyone's good will and patience. But I wouldn't say it's completely worthless.

Warner Bros was always too stupid to make their DC line profitable while the MCU was literally laughing at the bank with billions of dollars.

Let the franchise lay low for a few years, reboot it with competent people, and half decent writers. Maybe make it a real anime, and I think it could be a huge hit. I doubt WB will part away with RWBY without asking for at least a few millions.

But yes, if anyone is dumb enough to try to continue it as RT left it then yes RWBY is worthless.
