Didn’t V7 and V8 try to show a training arc?
And she didn't learn how it works in it. Penny explained how it works 5 seconds before Ruby needed to use her new ability in Vol 8. The training arc consisted of "Brhaaa! Why I can't evolve my semblance?" "bruh, have you tried evolving your semblance", and then her semblance evolves (thus retconning Volume 4 Ruby already having those abilities)

Think back to shows like the X men you never really had any absurdly complex or creative power. Add to that that I never got the feeling that semblance were ever intended to be anything more then minor abilities.
A superpower doesn't need to be complex or creative, the point is to use it in a complex or creative way. RWBY was very good at that in the earlier volumes with the team fights how each weapon and ability could be used in different combinations to boost each other.

It could have been like Jojo with stands, especially in the team dynamic.

You know despite her being gay and pro-trans, fuck, that's some good art. Full image:

Speaking of artists, do you know by any chance what happened to mojojoj? I ask because you seem to know a lot about RWBY.

As far as I know it seems he was a Japanese artist that was employed by Rooster Teeth. His art is extremely good, but, to be blunt, I feel he was wasting his talent just doing RWBY. But his RWBY stuff is actually pretty good. One of the few genuinely talented people at RT.

What I find odd is that he only seems to do RWBY drawings. That and the fact that He hasn’t uploaded art since 2022. But he did retweet something about RT closing on March 8. So I assume he was laid off too, right?

I find it odd because he is clearly talented enough to easily get a job anywhere outside RT, or to have any other interests besides RWBY. But his whole life seems to revolve around this show.

I am guessing it’s not their real main account, or someone was LARPING as a Japanese artist?

Really? News to me.
Yeah. He is followed by a some of the big names at RT, and he claims he was hired to do concept art for RWBY chibi on his bio. I assume he is legit.

I am surprised how little we know about him. If he is indeed Japanese I am guessing he didn’t want to tie his RWBY art to his real identity. Because its hard to believe someone as talented as him only did RWBY.

Not about the behind the scenes shit

No problem. Thanks anyway.

Edit: He just posted art today. After two years. What a coincidence….

He's Japanese so what most likely happened was his art was spread across 18 different accounts with completely different usernames and then one day for a reason no man nor god could discern he just nuked everything with no warning and then went underground.

Makes sense to me . He obviously didn’t just pop out from nowhere to just draw RWBY fan art so I am guessing that for whatever reason he doesn’t want his RWBY fan art identity tied with his other stuff. It’s futile to me because art styles are like signatures. If someone cared to dig enough in you could probably find his other accounts.

But I don’t see the point. He just draws good fan art. Nothing interesting otherwise about him.

The fact that he wants to keep his RWBY fan art identity not tied to his other art or real life already speaks volumes.

It's weird but it's a common thing for Jap artists for some reason. They just kinda do that.

I'll add an edit so as not to double post. @Smith Wesson, no not really. Not anything beyond what's already been posted in this thread at least, Ray hasn't really done anything of any note with it since V6 wrapped up so until V7 happens I doubt there will be much of anything to discuss with it, and my inside sources for his Discord haven't really had much to share with me either as far as behind the scenes drama. It seems that the project has reached that equilibrium where only the lazy sycophants are still around and it'll be a coin flip as to whether or not he keeps doing it.

I see.

Sadly, I've been out of the loop since the DDOS. You know what other dumb decisions have been made besides Adam's death?

“The only way to save this is to do a reboot“ levels of bad. RT fans have a lot of copium in a continuation. But even finishing this mess would take more than a volume. Two seasons at least.

I meant in FRWBY.
They gave Vernal an expanded role, for one. And they made Malachite a split personality thing. That’s two. Just search for Fixing RWBY ITT. Also, there’s a lot of original art after V4.

And a big, third one: Instead of Oscar being the host of Ozpin, it’s Roman Torchwick.

That part I already know. I was there with Rhymes, after all and provided commentary.

It's just that I haven't seen a massive dissection of FRWBY Vol 6 here. Should we start digging at FRWBY Vol 6?
