I mean if we are going personality wise, then yes, Miles is infinitely worse, and I know next to nothing about Eddy Rivas or Kiersi Burkhart to make any sound judgements on them. But in terms of writing this season, Kerry's the weakest of the lot. Especially since this episode wastes half its runtime on a backstory that's way too late in the game and has Cinder get off lightly for disobeying her boss- an evil genocidal overlord. All while also begging the question of why weren't Emerald or Neo get punished considering Salem probably told all of her goons to stay aboard the whale and not just Cinder. And even if it was just Cinder she aimed it too, they did assist her after all being her remaining subordinantes now that Merc's been promoted. The only good thing about it was the ending, and that's only because shit's going down and I want to see what comes of it before the hiatus. It’s funny. I always thought Kerry was the one I didn’t have to worry about. He doesn’t go off on critics, he was the only one to give a rather logical answer to TheFloofArtist at that RTX, and I always got the impression that he was at least trying to make something worth a damn.
I'm happy that I'm not the only one who hated that song. Seriously, it's worse than Disney songs, in terms of not just subtlety, but it also sounds ass.I know RWBY songs have never been subtle, but christ Cinder's backstory is accompanied by edgy lyrics that just flat out state "No one loves you. No one cares. You're alone. FEEL BAD!"
Why did Cinder's Huntsman teacher immediately go to attack her? She wasn't going to attack him, he could have easily subdued her if he used a hint of subtlety.
Cinder's backstory here, not mentioning it being too little too late, just drags. It doesn't tell us anything interesting about her that we don't already assume.
Mercury got a promotion. About damn time.
Even Ozpin is calling Hazel's motivations dumb.
Oscar, while bleeding, bruised and near death: No, no, Ozpin. Hazel's totally holding back.
They act like Oscar wouldn't be suffering if Ozpin took over. It's still Oscar's body getting beaten, he's gonna feel it no matter what.
Ozpin just yells out that Salem's bad instead of just making the obvious point that Salem's plan literally has no benefits for anyone but her.
Jaune gets mad at the Harriet for asking about Penny when there's a bigger situation to worry about, but is quiet when Yang already starts sniping at them the moment they touch down. If you don't want their help, don't ask for their help.
Yikes, now shit is totes getting serious, y'all. There's no ways Salem could have attacked before this.
Also, the Grimm Whale is basically just the Dragon from Volume 3. Flies and spawns Grimm. Only difference is that people can live in this one.
Welp, Atlas is fucked. Good thing Ruby and co made it stay put, I'm sure all the innocent people that are about to be ripped apart will understand.
I don't really know what the writers were thinking for Salem to rely on Cinder again after she blatantly disobeyed orders.
Well, all of the songs that we’ve heard in this show sound like they came from Casey’s MySpace page, regardless if they were be formed by Jeff, Casey, or whoever the fuck. I ain’t expecting John Williams or Hans Zimmer, but every part of RWBY soundtrack has felt the same from day oneI'm happy that I'm not the only one who hated that song. I agree, it's the same buttmetal every fucking time. I also don't expect a god tier OST, but get some instrumental once in a while so we can feel the fight more. I swear, there'll be some rescore of some scenes if I checked on YT & they'll probably be better.Well, all of the songs that we’ve heard in this show sound like they came from Casey’s MySpace page, regardless if they were be formed by Jeff, Casey, or whoever the fuck. For being rock, their music always sounds... safe.Well, all of the songs that we’ve heard in this show sound like they came from Casey’s MySpace page, regardless if they were be formed by Jeff, Casey, or whoever the fuck. You act as if this show knows any other kind of evil. She's cartoonishly evil.
Have you ever considered fanfiction.net or AO3?I am really tempted to make another post rewriting it in the way I'd see fit but fuck wasting effort on RWBY fanfiction for a New Zealand agriculture forum.
Why do you think I brought up MySpace? No matter what genre the track is, she always sounds like a nasally teenager and something tells me all the constant high range belting she has to do for RWBY is gonna catch up with her in a bad way.
I was thinking more that Salem was probably going to throw Cinder away after the whole "I've been holding you back all this time...Maybe they're going for a mirror of Ironwood and his honestly loyal subordinates, or for Ironwood and RWBY? They've been desperatly attempting to have themes of loyalty and trust this volume so it doesn't really come out of nowhere. Just (like...basically everything else about the themes) handled it kind of poorly and are unlikely to get a pay off.

If they were trying to mirror Ironwood and his loyal subordinates, were they going for a "fear vs. trust" theme? Because Salem's subordinates aren't exactly afraid of her (apart from maybe failing missions) - she didn't threaten them to join her side, I don't think she holds any sort of information over them either. None of them have a really good motivation to be on her side either. Cinder is all "I want power and I'm so evil!!". Emerald and Mercury just kind of followed her there. Hazel's motivations are primarily focused around getting revenge for his sister, Watts is there because Atlas rejected him, and we know nothing about Tyrian's reasons for being there.

My thinking was that Salem was making it so Cinder would be put into a position where there'd be no excuses if she failed. Everything is perfectly set up, and she probably forgave Cinder for going rogue since it ended with her gaining the relic. It took learning of Haven's failure for her to get more directly involved.Maybe? I don't really think so though. There is some contrast in Ironwood giving them orders that they obey unquestioningly and Salem giving orders that are promptly ignored, but it feels like they're trying to make the unquestioning loyalty out to be a bad thing rather than the results of the Ass-Ops rewarding Ironwood for building their trust.
It’s not like I’ve never heard of them, I just never feel the need to make fan content for some reason, not even fanart of characters I adored (was a drawfag). Like, if I’m going that far I’d rather use my own material without being constrained by canon.Have you ever considered fanfiction.net or AO3?
"The fundemental problem with the vast majority of praise in the #RWBY fandom is it's based solely on being as toxic as possible. 90% of the show's self-proclaimed ""fans""" don't care what the story gives them, because that's not important. They'll love it regardless " - Fuck I did it wrong. Mine is actually true.
Are you sure about that? That assumes they are smart enough to get reasonably skilled and priced VAs, let alone direct them properly.Nigri is voice acting.... (sorry I don't follow Rwby I just follow AH and RT)
Jesus Christ RT really is the company built upon nepotism. It was one thing when they were starting out to give jobs for voice acting to the useless shits that work for them, but they are a company with actual backing now, they can actually afford real voice actors. But no they instead give jobs to their friends despite their friends having zero qualifications for the job.
Now that I'm actually looking at it, and the way this limpwristed soy guzzler is "advertising" it, I'd rather spend my money on groceries.
It's such a generic compliment that can apply to any story beat "This story is important to abuse survivors because the heroes winning tells us that other people can win in their situation too."
