The pacing felt a little rushed at times, but honestly I could get used to two events happening per episode instead of just one with massive amounts of useless talking.
Looks like they were going for one of those puzzle piece, flashback episodes but this late in the Volume with all the tension that should be there is the wrong time for something like that. And this episode felt unusually short. This almost feels like it isn't meant to be 'the' Ironwood boss fight a lot of us would love to see and I'm not sure if that's because they're saving it for later or if they really bungled the pace by arranging that action scene the way they did.

I'm always slightly amused but annoyed at how they keep hiring big name voice actors while the rest of their show is shit, is that Richard Epcar voicing the big blue buff dude? They should be paying better writers instead. To be brutally honest, I don't get excited about the relic smurfs because they're a big blue reminder of how bland RWBY's setting is in practice. They are the creations of gods yet they act and speak like regular modern humans, they should be otherworldly and truly frightening but, like the Brothers Grimm, they're just people in body paint with magic powers. Almost everyone in this world, no matter how far in the past you go (even Salem's era), talks like the average American, that might have been okay for modern Vale but it makes me painfully aware that they're just placing the castles and magic around like dressing instead of using the lore to its fullest potential. But WoR was an utter shitshow from the start that they've been retconning ever since so this was botched from its inception.

I have no idea, but all I heard was somebody trying to do an impression of Robin Williams as The Genie from Aladdin.

You could say that. Honestly, the show feels like it's reeling from the fact that the show is reeling super hard from the lack of actual meaningful worldbuilding because nobody bothered to buckle down and use the Beacon Arc to set up the world outside the walls instead of slice of lime anime high school hijinks mixed with monster fights and YA novel stumbling on and investigating weird things going on in the background. That and the whole "slammed into darkness because the ship lost its captain just as they were about to hit the stormiest waters they'd ever face".

It's not. The new blue dude's VA is some rando from Britain who largely does guest voices for RT going off his threadbare IMDB page.

I still think that making Penny human was one of the most boneheaded decisions the writers have ever made, but this wasn't even close to why I hated it so much.

I could swear that he's trying his damndest to do a Robin Williams impression.
That's what I thought too, especially as The Genie.

Here you go.

Trust me, RT can barely afford the other LA voice actors who show up in the show. What chance would they even have to get Epcar to show up? I'm still confused as to how and why they managed to get the cast they did for Gen:Lock.

Either way, Genie dude sounded godawful, even when compared to the already bleh acting standards of the series.

Definitely. Her arc (if you can call it that) has ended, her character now has nowhere to grow, not that it grew anywhere to begin with. She was always just a prop and fanbait. She'll end up like Yang and Blake who are effectively neutered from doing anything interesting but they also can't kill her off again after they blatantly put death flags around her then aborted it during this Volume.

Same way they somehow got Jinn's? He sounds okay to me although I didn't realise his attitude was supposed to be a Robin Williams impression, wtf. Too bad Gen:Lock only fizzled out instead of exploding into something threadworthy.

I mean...who actually has any potential for an arc at this point? Everyone who still had potential for an arc, if you could call it that, needed that arc to conclude in mantle. It should have frankly been the last place they visited because of how the location is crucial to so many characters.

Literally nobody has an arc that relates to Vacuo, no one has any real relationship to that location.

Cinder? Maybe? I'm morbidly curious at how much further they can drag this out because I don't think they have a good incentive to stop if the IP actually does make or break them. I think I watch RWBY to see the constant character assassination of their whole cast (it's almost a talent!) and also this kiwi thread, to be honest.

I’m not sure if his voice was supposed to ape Robin Williams by design, or at least all we have is speculation until the First embargo is lifted.

As for Gen Lock, the best it got was being a part of the Rooster Teeth thread.

Honestly, the only real location left is going back to Beacon. There’s unfinished business there.

I think the most RT can do with RWBY at this point is just supplemental material and potential spin-offs. There’s a market with it in the RT crowd, but I doubt that they’ll ever really grow beyond that. And for all the talk of Monty, I’m not entirely sure he would be the driving force to bigger things. They tried to break out of their little Internet box with Gen Lock. It failed. Miserably.

On it bro.

Monkey boy shows up in Vacuo, cucks Yang and uncucks the show perfect ark

I never got why so many people draw her black when her skin color, outfits, and weapon all clearly have Asian elements in them. Like, why make her of all characters black? Is it because she's this world's equivalent to a minority?
Because the only minority that exists are black people. Anyone else is just pretending to be black for clout.
