Honestly Watts died because he made himself useless to the writers. His whole thing was being a l33t h4xor but he blew up the only nation that runs on computers so he couldn't really do anything if they kept him on.
Yet another reason why not going to Atlas for the "last" quest location was fucking stupid.

Not necessarily, a big part of attacking Beacon was leet haxoring, would have been cool if he hacked the Atlasian knights and added them to Salem's army or something. Would give Pietro something to do, but I guess he and Maria just died?

Nah, returning to Beacon was always going to be the final arc.

Obviously. But if your going to go anywhere before you go back to Beacon, it should be Atlas instead of fucking Vacuo.

So, about that stinger and volume. 25112CA2-3AEA-4F5C-B945-63EE668C325F.jpeg 100C1373-1C31-4E50-AD36-7031B2F70993.jpeg

I couldn't watch the episode until today, but I knew that certain characters died... regardless, I was going in with pretty much idea as to what was going to happen and figured I'd share my many thoughts that popped up in my head as I was watching it.
1) Ruby's aura is completely gone by Neo literally tossing her across the floor with her umbrella. That's it. How? I thought Aura's were usually caused by heavy blows.
2) Ruby's aura magically comes back and is then depleted once again...? What?
3) Where did Blake come from when she suddenly attacked Cinder?
4) The central island was way bigger as Weiss and Penny fell down towards it... how did it become smaller when it cut to the next few scenes?
5) The citizens trying to run for the exit... I love how the ones in the way back (the ones we can most clearly see) are just standing there and doing nothing. You'd think they would all be clashing into each other desperately running for their lives, but I know RT is lazy and/or didn't put enough of a budget into this episode's animation.
6) Okay, how did Neo come back through one of the portals... Just how. Remember how in the previous episode they remembered that they said "one-way ticket to Vacuo", so the exit was only one-way? How would any of the other smaller portals be two-way?
7) What even is Cinder's motive at this point? Praise from Salem? What drives her to kill all of these thousands of people??
8 ) Ruby cared more about her weapon falling into the abyss than her own damn sister... no comments.
9) Congrats Harriet! You were fucking stupid and now your teammate is dead. Nice 2 braincells.
10) Ruby flew underneath the platform and back up to the top of it using her Semblance... why the FUCK did you not do that to save your SISTER? Oh, yeah, I guess we needed Yang to "die".
11) Cinder says to Ruby that she "should've never been born"... okay? I don't know where the hell that insult came from but it was really stupid.
12) They all pause while Cinder's Grimm arm begins to spaz out... um, who fucking cares? That's your chance to strike at her! She's vulnerable and preoccupied. Why are they all just standing there?!
13) What was the point of Jaune killing Penny so that Cinder wouldn't get the Winter Maiden's powers? Regardless of if Cinder killed her or Jaune killed her, Penny would've still most likely transferred the power to Winter (that's who she was thinking of last as she died). She should've just died when Cinder impaled her with her... Grimm hand thing.
14) Dear god. What the fuck is that island at the end. It looks visually horrendous (design AND rendering). I honestly kind of hope it's the afterlife, but then again that leaves us with Oscar, Nora, and Ren as the "protags" of V9. Ugh.
No comments regarding Winter. She's the best part of V8 and I love her.
Bye now.

So I get the impression that everyone in this show is a goddamn moron, and if they all didn't have plot armor, then Salem would have won by now.

It's called cliffhanger bait. All fans will do during the hiatus is speculate on what the island is, and who survived to wash up there, and what'll happen on that island. I mean, you could say all the volumes ended on some cliffhanger bait, but this is pretty blatant.

So much for Wonderland though.

It's part plot armor, part incompetence. Salem doesn't even come across as remotely threatening or dangerous.
But does it really matter when you have a right hand minion that'll wreck everything for you? I mean, Cinder has shown herself to be Salem's perfect Azula.

The end portals are the only one that was one way, all the others where two way (as in the rock joke).

Why? Because.

What is anyone's motivation at this point? Ironwood was the only one who felt like they even had one and that was clearly by accident.

The eye thing. They made the eyes flash to make it obvious.

Cinder's Grim arm can steal Maiden powers. That is how she got it from the OG dead red head.

It's pretty dumb cliffhanger bait tbh. It would've been cooler if the island actually looked okay and not like a shitty ripoff of Madagascar... as well as if the visuals were actually good and not literally PS1 graphics.

Ah, I love the stupidity. Thanks, RT.

What do you mean?

Ohh, my bad. I forgot about that. If only RT actually cared about continuity and perhaps Penny or someone around her mentioned that.

To put this another way, his character arc was done. It would have been better for him to go down with the ship, already haven proven he was the best mind of Atlas and was going to spend his final moments breaking it as much as possible. Thus the bomb.

Instead Cinder goes on a tard rampage for no good raison. Betraying Neo I mildly understand, but Watts should have just killed himself.

Plot Twist: Volume 9 will begin with Gilligan and the Skipper waking up Team RWBY.

Honestly V8 is such a clusterfuck, I don't even know what sort of fucking story are they trying to tell at this point.
Ah... the good old days where nothing mattered in terms of plot. The kids were late for class... Jaune was bullied by classmates (good)... etc.

I wish RT knew that we never really cared about how simple the plot was. One of the biggest reasons why we all loved RWBY was because of the fight scenes and the character dynamics. I'm not sure how we've gone from a friendly school battle competition in V3 to a giant refugee crisis following terroristic attacks and a Trump vs. Hillary election in V7-8.

They were doomed the day they uploaded those final episodes of V3 in which the destruction of Beacon (and all of Vale), the death of Pyrrha, the amputation of Yang's arm, and the separation of all of the characters could not be reversed. After that point, the writers were forced to begin their story about traveling from kingdom to kingdom.
We really should've gotten more time in Vale if they were going to inevitably destroy it.

You know, everything I hear about this show talks about this path they're on was always the road that was going to be traveled. I always say Monty overestimated how far his show could go on action and passion alone and underestimated how much work needed to go into worldbuilding and character development. And while the ship suffered from losing its captain in the choppiest of waters, I still feel that there was no way that the show could still be doing some be some high school hijinks forever as some anime inspired webcomic or something like K-On!. Even if they wanted to be something like Persona or Danganropa or whatever thing where there's more to it than just "anime high school", at some point, RWBY HAD to actually sit down, buckle down, and raise their game and skill level...and to a people, apparently, they didn't.
