I don’t remember if Yang vs Tifa was really all that cringe outside of the verdict, but I do know that Tifa’s analysis kept pulling a bait and switch. There are several points in it where Boomstick sounds like he’s about to make a boob joke, but then talks about something else related to Tifa. The payoff to all this is him mentioning near the end of her analysis that she has a nice rack.

But even with how forgettable I found it, the writing was still leagues above Batgirl vs Spider-Gwen.
at least there's a set up

Yang vs Tifa only gets flak for 1. The verdict, and 2. Some durability feats that some feel were oversold or shouldn’t have been included. Hell, a buddy of mine said Yang vs Tifa was probably THE WORST way RWBY could have been brought into Death Battle.

That guy wouldn't happen to be Joshua Kviring, wouldn't it?

Yang vs Tifa was something of an in-joke in most Vs communities when it happened to the point pillars and pillar level Yang became minor memes for people blowing things out of proportions while being wrong about them in the first place, since the pillar calculation used in DB was wrong to begin with.

Yeah, the big problem with Yang vs Tifa was that RWBY didn't even have Aura breaking as a special effect until Volume 3 (alongside Monty being a class-act idiot when it came to power levels for Team RWBY), and then after V3 every character got a massive durability nerf. Using feats from V1 for Blake isn't fair because it erases seven years of feats saying she's far more fragile than that.

Using Maya improved the visuals, but not the gamepl-everything else. Poser improved in the animation department, but no as much as maya.
I'll be honest chief, the Maya transition made it more soulless and mass produced than a Necron Tombworld. Them not bothering with shading and textures plus not updating or experimenting with the models doesn't help either, main 4 next to each other make them all look copy-pastey.

Picture that summed my gripes with this transition:

Cody, Rex, and some random no-names from a 2008 cartoon aimed for kids:

Clones look more natural and contain more personality even though most in this shot are generic no names.

No.

I think the idea is that that’s her biggest feat in terms of durability. It ain’t really Death Battle’s fault RWBY plays fast and loose with things like rules and limits. If anything, an attempt to make sense of them could be seen as climbing a mountain.

I’m still genuinely unsure why people consider Salem such a great villain. She overcomplicates the narrative, makes the world feel a lot smaller, is partly responsible for the character bloat everyone hates, and takes away a lot of the potential nuances the story could have told.

You know what kills me the most about this? Fucking Final Fantasy X did this exact villain already, but better. Shuyin did it first, and did it better. He fell in love with someone, and when that romance wasn't panning out quite like he wanted it to, he went to go steal a gigantic "fuck the world" weapon to just straight up kill everybody. In his attempt, he's stopped by his love interest, and the both are shot to death, but because of bullshit rules in FFX, he's not exorcised and his ghost haunts the planet for the rest of time. An absurd amount of time later, he finally has everything line up so he can try again.

He possesses several kill political leaders to puppeteer them into reawakening the "fuck the world" weapon, bring it to the afterlife where it will cause absolute annihilation of everything so he can finally rest in peace and see his love again.

It's a villain that's pissy about a romance gone sour that placed them in an unkillable position where his only hope of peace is to just kill everyone. He's pretty poorly written, BUT AT LEAST HE'S BETTER WRITTEN THAN SALEM.

Clique mentality. They have to agree on the same opinion or they'll be ostracized. The fact that they "belong" is addictive to them.

The ironic part is, the "fandom" is steadily dwindling for varying reasons. Mostly because of other fans taking the piss out of enjoying roasting he show.

How do they manage to make RWBY characters look more like soulless samefaces than actual clones that have the same face.

The ending where promoting for Volume 3 basically came off as RWBY sucking it’s own dick, with the representative of it winning and essentially making it a shit sundae topped off with ego.

How else can we have an ultimate force of evil for our heroes to fight?

Does that mean the fight was canon?

Nope, but the promotion they did HANDN’T done anything to help their controversial choices for that fight from what I remember.
I think that promotion was the only mandate RT wanted because they were kind of doing the viral marketing thing. Ben even said that he knew it looked suspect. But other than that, DB had, and still have when it comes to featuring RWBY, complete creative freedom.

They should've stick with Cinder being a dust mage to tie in dust, the one and only interesting thing that can bind lore, narrative, and motivation together but nooo. They just have to add another clown in an already crowded car.

It’s funny how they wanted to have Cinder be both a lackey and right hand, and now it’s seeming they’re finally committing to the Palpatine/Darth Vader, Ozai/Azula relationship now that the villain roster has been trimmed by a lot. And even then, there’s some who thinks Cinder might pull one on Salem to pursue more power.

I think Cinder’s role as a rival character/secondary antagonist was always pretty well defined. The problem was Salem’s management style results in a lot of left hand vs right hand. Rather than explain to her underlings her plan and their role in it, she just barks orders and expects zero original thought. Very generic villain stuff, right up there with shooting messengers.

Really Team RWBY should be dead by now, but Salem sucks as a leader.

I thought V6 painted things as “Salem had only gotten directly involved because her minions screwed the pooch”.

Honestly, the thing about Salem was that CRWBY wrote themselves into a corner by making her so powerful since if Salem went all out, the show would be over and the bad guy wins. And this show doesn’t want to run like that.
