well it's almost completely impossible for non-billionaires to set one up, and if you did, you would probably run into some brightly-glowing bullshit that would shut you down before too long anyway
at the very least this bill (with modifications) would slightly help with josh's situation

I get that, but now would be the time. we DO have billionaires namely steam who are under threat by these other companies, they would need to work with something like a bank to build their own payment processor and we basically have the entire game industry who'd support it. if a new competitor was going to enter the field, this would be the time.

Update: Literally while I was on the john I received a phone call from the office of one of the Senators I'd been writing. They informed me he was signing on as a sponsor of the Fair Access Act and they were going to bring the amendments I'd written about from @Null/ Josh's USIPS article up when it goes to the amendment phase.

The Aide I spoke to said it was not out of committee yet so wasn't yet up for amendment proposals. I'd say likely until it receives enough proponents to push it out of committee it will remain.

She's the best and worst part of this god-forsaken site, best because she regularly causes shitstorms over literally nothing that generates enough content to keep me busy for hours, and worst because it derails multiple fucking threads across the site and it takes me ages to find out what the fuck happened if I'm late to the party (haven't been online in months) because the search result I'm looking for is buried in meme posts.
If she isn't just crying wolf over muh misogyny with the whole "dramatically leaving forever" thing (doubt) we'll be losing an important part of kf culture but at the same time it will be a lot less obnoxious around here.
