S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (Stalker) Thread

After finishing the main trilogy I installed gamma, only to uninstall it after a couple of hours because I had no interest in it's weapon crafting/tooling economy.

I think there's a mod that adds purchasable equip to traders so you can ignore the crafting and looting loop needed to progress, if I'm not mistaken.

There's probably more to reduce the grind, but I don't remember exactly what at the moment

Why you would spend more time fine running and balancing a piece of shit rather than spending an hour downloading a better freeplay mod, or better yet, a great SoC or Story mod, is beyond me.
I guess people just really like playing shit games. :smug:

That's what I've been doing lol. Have played through Radiophobia and doing an another one, in addition to playing Lost Alpha DC and I've got my eyes on True Stalker afterwards. I prefer to have objectives and a storyline to go through instead of an open sandbox.

Just tick/untick a few mods in MO, it takes five minutes. You have to like Anomaly GAMMA to begin with, and since Blackstar said he wasn't fond of the crafting, not that he disliked the sandbox, my suggestion was fair

You can just go to options in regular GAMMA and turn up the condition of weapons. That's what I did for more veteran stalkers and it was so much better, it's immersion breaking that a man who survived in the zone for so long runs around with a weapon that is about to fall apart.

Next-gen updates to the original games got rated in Taiwan for consoles but PC patches should be expected too

GOD, please, dont update the original game's depot, let it be a separate AppId or download.
Or have the older versions available in the betas tab like other games do, I expect massive backlash if they don't make it possible to go back to the older versions on PC.

You can disable those things in settings and make it so that you can by equipment from traders.
What issues did you face? Downloading everything does take long with the retries etc. but that aside the installation is pretty straightforward
Tbh the thing that took the longest for me was actually downloading gamma/anomaly, but thats probs because my wifi is ass. If you follow the instructions on the discord there are no problems at all.

Iirc they even have a little shit-test at the end where you check how many mods are currently enabled in the launcher, just to make sure you followed instructions properly and didn't fuck with anything before starting to complain

The console fags will be happy but it's going to turn into a shitshow on community level. I also wonder if this means the mods are going to be severily limited?
Considering the biggest issues with Bethesda mods on console are the script extenders and other .dll's that console makers are very understandably unwilling to let run in the background for security reasons I don't think we'll have quite the same restraints. Besides, even if mod.io itself is heavily restricted PC players can always use UESS separate from it.

Something about Stalker 2 still feels off to me. Maybe it’s the art style? Maybe it's the Unreal Engine making the game look boring to me? Or a lot of the iconic guns didn’t return. Stalker 2 feels like a reboot. Not a direct sequel.
