S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (Stalker) Thread

To be honest, the games actual development cycle is up for question. Heck, according to some leaked stuff, it started as far when CoP came out. They certainly later used plot threads from that old script for this version of the game.
Yeah it's been in development for over a decade or so. But they still managed to release that slop shit show.
I don't have it installed but I'm pretty sure Anomaly has built-in settings for pop density and spawns you can adjust, and I think you can even choose specific factions and mutant types, like getting rid of controllers and upping bandit counts.
I might check out Escape from Pripyat. I think STALKER would make a cool Escape from Tarkov singleplayer. Anomaly already has all the guns and shit. STALKER had the gun play. Just ditch the mutants and anomalies and it's Escape from Tarkov for people who don't want multiplayer BS dealing with sweats.
Are there any decent S.T.A.L.K.E.R. "inspired" games on Steam?

I was browsing the store early today and noticed ASKET and MISERY, both look meh but they led me other games, stuff like The Zone: Stalker Stories, ZED ZONE, CHERNOBYL: The Untold Story or the absolute kino S.E.X. Z.O.N.E. ☢️.

Has anyone played these or similar games? Are they any good? I know I won't get the same experience as with the original games, but if they're good on their own, that's still great.
Chernobylite comes to mind. As well as Tunguska. That's all I know of. I looked into ASKET and apparently, it's going for the hyper realistic photo-realism look and it uses UE I just don't know which version. So, it will most likely be slop like STALKER 2.

Are you sure you're not confusing Stalker 2 with Stalker 2012?

Chernobylite isn't anything like Stalker, the closest I can call it is a stripped down and re-focused Fallout 4 set in Chernobyl with a plot that a 14 year old came up with. It's basically settlement building and companion babysitting and scavanging generally avoiding combat and rushing story.

I have never heard of Stalker 2012.

That isn't what everyone else says about Chernobylite.

I thought you were joking about your last exempel, but nope. It is a real "game".
Looks terrible and not Stalker enough.

I think the enhanced versions were probably worked on the same time as the console ports.
If they're any good I plan on buying and playing them cause I prefer slop remasters to "uhhh play the 2009 original with 500 mods!", but still.
>NFT cucks
>Bad elden-ring tier hyped-up game
>Nobody bats an eye cause my beloved stalker
The selective favoritism in gaming is nuts.

Misery looks cool only because of the multiplayer tbh. But if you want a free game, Stalcraft is ok I guess.

Stalker 2012 is the Stalker 2 that was cut in 2012, basically, while COP was in the making and released GSC were pre-producing their Stalker 2, however, this was cancelled in 2011-2012 when GSC shut down effective. The Stalker 2 we have nowadays is completely different from Stalker 2012, from tone to art-style, despite Stalker 2 having lifted a lot of concepts. Basically, Stalker 2 aimed to make the zone a lot more sci-fi in nature and a lot more inspired by Roadside Picnic, having the dillema of the game be literally about privatising the wealth of the zone or not, the factions all followed this theme as well allowing you to solve their internal problems in a way to keep their identity or have them join a government institution to keep the theme of the gov controlling the zone.
Stalcraft is ok I guess
I used to play stalcraft for a summer, the first half of the game is fun, if you have friends then it will be even better, however, as soon as you make it to the north it drops the ball hard as it expects you to do copious ammounts of grind that can be expedited with cash, meanwhile pushing you to do PVP shit with clans and teams, which if you don't speak russian or play Stalcraft as your main game, good luck keeping on.

I don't know if they are slop or not. No one will know till Tuesday. I hope they aren't shit. I own all three games so I will get the enhanced versions for free. I can always just go back to playing the originals. The original games didn't really need 500 mods. SoC being the worst in terms of bugs and issues. Many mods fix all the issues like Zone Reclamation Porject which fixes bugs and issues while keeping the game vanilla. Complete fixes issues and makes a few changes which I think makes the games better. I don't mind what Complete does. CoP has less issues and can be played without mods. There is a complete mod for CoP as well. All I ever used was the complete mod. It fixes issues in the games and enhances the graphics a bit and that's about all.

There are some people that are willing to speak the truth about STALKER 2. But it is disappointing in seeing how the STALKER fan base went all soy and started defending the slop fest that is STALKER 2.

So basically, what I said STALKER 2 was in development for over a decade.

There was no development for years because the company didn't exist anymore. The studio closed, got re-opened in 2014, then announced Stalker 2 in 2018.

I wonder if the remaster will be available for Russians who previously bought all 3 games before they became unavailable for purchase.
"S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition will be available in the same regions as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl."
I got the remasters for free, even though Heart of Chernobyl isn't available in my region.

The EE release is a shitshow, the remaster themselves are fucked in all kinds of ways, they are a mess, I'm pretty sure they were made by Mataboo, same people that made the console ports.

Edit: All but confirmed that it is Mataboo, not only are the edits sloppy as fuck, but the file credits, all the new console commands have the mtb prefix and the credits also say so. Diving thru the files of the EE editions is a complete fucking shitshow, Mataboo doesn't know how to work.

Found this meme on the Stalker reddit: The AI upscaling slop is so bad it turned scan lines into a watercolor

I posted it before but I'll do it again, I recommend just playing Radiophobia for the enhanced SoC experience instead of this piece of shit "enhancement"
